Spoiler Rumours of Snoke's Backstory From TLJ Novel

Doubt it will be a movie but if they do decide to make a live action or another animation set between the OT and ST then it could be a way to bring in a back story for Snoke. It doesn't have to centre around him but could show scenes as he how got control of the FO.

I know some people love fully fleshed out movies but i love reading up on extra material be it comics , books or the animation to fill in the gaps for me. For instance Rogue One had some plot holes but when i read the Catalyst book it made me love Rogue even more as it fleshed out certain elements and answered many questions that were left from the movie.

 

In my opinion, the problem is worse than just not knowing Snoke's backstory: it seems likely to me at this point that Snoke simply never had a backstory.

The Sith always had a very detailed background, and even though we only got a small glimpse of it in the OT, it was enough to get people interested. We got much more info through the PT (and some other sources), and everything just fit together.

I would love to be proven wrong, but I just don't see how any backstory could ever make sense for Snoke. We have always known the Sith as the ultimate evil in the galaxy, but for some reason there is suddenly now a second ultimate evil that is basically the same as the first one but supposedly somehow different, and no one mentioned it during episodes 1-6.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, and if JJ can pull this off after all, I'd love to see it - but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Snoke has little or no presence in IX at all.
