Disney and Abrams did already it with other movies. They do it to keep the people open minded. If i see a floating lighsaber, im pissed from min one, and maybe im wrong with that, but now im biased.

One example is Star trek into Darkness. They filmed another scene for the press screening, Cumberbatch said I am John Harrison instead of Khaaan.

Yeah I mentioned that one. JJ is on record as saying it was mistake. Give me something disney or JJ has done where they released false info to a fan run website to confuse fans.

With lost I'm sure the didn't even know what the final episode was going be like when they were filming it. There were more story lines left unresolved than a soap opera has evil twins.

EDIT: Sorry for Hijacking the thread. We should get back on topic.

Yes, actually, I was speaking of posters that was in the last months identified as frauds (fraud is actually a harsh term, let's say....with a huge imagination :) ).
As for the ones that are currently posting... ;) I asked IG-88, Dengar, Boba Fett, Zuckuss and 4-LOM to help me (Boosk is a fraud).

The clip is sooo funny :) lol

I think people need to go back and re-read all the MSW posts.
The only stuff - give or take a couple of occasions - JW has presented as being his own "spoilers" began in September with the series of concept art descriptions. Everything up until then, and much of what came afterwards, was actually pretty clearly flagged up as "other sites are saying this, this is what I think of what they are saying..." type stuff.
Personally I think JW has been quite open in saying, "this is just my belief based on what I know/have seen" on his own site since then but I appreciate some people seem to have been rubbed up the wrong way by his posting style on other sites, including this one.
It was only earlier this year that he claimed to have anything beyond some concept art and occasional contact from admins at other spoiler sites sharing their own information.

Also, if Disney chose "the biggest SW site" as a platform to share their "false leaks", they failed miserably in selecting what was, less than two years ago, a fairly insignificant Tumblr blog which simply posted behind the scenes and rare PT/OT pics which have been doing the rounds on the internet for years along with plenty of other people on Tumblr.
Just my two cents, of course... :)

Keep in mind though, with Lost the fans enjoyed it as much as the creators. I was on some Lost message boards back in those days. It was a constant game of cat and mouse to figure out the viral marketing and see through the veil. Maybe some didn't like it, but many loved playing the game. I think that's why JJ has kept with it to this day. Not realizing Trek and Wars fans wouldn't be into it the same way the Losties were.

I sometimes get the impression people actually imagine spoilers come from people in trenchcoats and sunglasses with Russian accents, who arrange to meet in dark alleys and anonymously hand over envelopes containing "top secret" information.
There are two types of people in the spoiler game.
    1) People who make blast up and have no contacts.
    2) People who happen to be fortunate enough to know and trust someone who is working on a movie.
There's not really any room in between, and MSW is clearly not getting fooled by an anonymous, untrusted source.

3- People who are in the know and who feed misinformation as a part of a campaign to surprise moviegoers when the film comes out.

True, those people may exist (can't think of one I have encountered offhand though). But I doubt Ward commissioned a load of conving concept art just to strengthen his misdirection. The fact that the Greenham Common set was busted, and matched pre-existing artwork descriptions which later leaked - it doesn't make sense that it is all orchestrated.
It's as simple as this - if MSW is fake, then every photo, every concept pic, every leak on every site - including this one - has also been fake. So we know nothing besides what we have seen in the trailer and a bunch of character names revealed on the official site and what we glimpsed in the Force for Change vids.
People just seem to have spat their dummies out when he suggetsed Hamill didn't have a big role and he was "only aware of one scene". Most people were happy to play along up until that point.

I've seen it all before. The whole storyline to ROTS dropped really early on. Right up to release people were still going round in circles arguing and denying the leaks were true, even when they were being re-leaked for the Nth time.
But you must do what you feel is right, of course... :)

If the filmmakers wanted to run a false information campaign it would be really easy. Just hire one person with some social media skills and make it his/her job. With all the sites competing to get spoilers on a movie like this it would be easy to manipulate a few of those people into running them. And the best way to spread misinformation is indirectly.

If it was my job, I would take on a number of different alias (each with supposed access to different bits of info) so that I could cross confirm whatever lies I wanted to share. I'd have to give up some genuine information, but I'd limit it to things I knew would either be impossible to hide (like set locations or participating actors), or to things the director intended for the public to know prior to release anyway (marketing always gives away some things about a movie - they have to).

The best "leaks" would be things like concept art of discarded ideas, or trailer breakdowns.

I'm not saying this is what happened, but it's certainly reasonable to think it could.
