How would everyone feel if the ending is as reported, Rey ascends the steps, interacts with Luke, but then the KOR arrive and a battle breaks out (using the stunt doubles that were on Skellig Michael)... but the shot simply fades back away from the island in the middle of a lightsaber battle. And credits!

That would signify, quite strongly, that Star WARS is back, there is a major battle going on and coming, and leaving a bit of a cliffhanger for Episode VIII. I think that might actually be a pretty cool way to tie up Episode VII but leave us wanting more for Episode VIII. Any thoughts?

Better than hi baby girl, but I prefer Rey arriving, walking up steps, searching the temple or wherever and then Knights of Ren surround her. She is about to fight them off and then Luke turns up. After the epic duel Luke and Rey have a little dialogue and then movie ends.

I don't believe any of it anyway. All of this Han dies like a dog followed by a 6-second Luke cameo with no dialogue, and a sunset. This is all nonsense, there's no way this is true. I'll believe it when I see it but nothing before then is going to persuade me this is the movie all these people came up with; Han dies like a dog and a 6-second Luke cameo after we hype expectation for Luke to the nth degree? No way I'm believing that. Because that means JJ is insane, and I refuse to condemn a man before the evidence is presented. TFA is now officially a court date, wherein evidence will be presented to me and I, the jury, will only then make my judgment regarding the sanity of the man in question. Until Dec 17 JJ Abrams is innocent until proven guilty in a cinema of quasi-law; and therefore this "script" is inadmissable as evidence to the contrary. I will now retire to my chamber until the aforementioned date.

You forgot that Han doesn't even get a funeral and everyone is celebrating when the falcon returns. Nobody seems to give a damn about Han in this fan fiction everyone believes in.

And just one thing to note re: Luke & Han - they NEVER had much screen time together after the original film. I think we the fans filled in a lot of the blanks that made them feel like best buddies. So much is implied. We also don't know yet what happened after Jedi. Did the falling out with Leia affect his relationship with Luke too? There might be a very compelling reason for their separation, which could then give a much greater emotional impact to Han's alleged loss.

Bottom line, wait to see the movie before jumping to conclusions. Two weeks.

Right and the cast and crew tell me I'm going to love this? "You're going to love it"? I'm going to love Han dying a meaningless death, followed by a 6-second Luke cameo? I guess the only way I could love it any more is if Chewie dies, too. And when they get back with the Falcon Leia has hanged herself. "You're going to love it!"

This is obviously why I can't accept that 'script' as a genuine representation of what happens in the movie. It can't be genuine without also simultaneously condemning JJ Abrams as a fool. I refuse to judge any man a fool until I have all of the evidence presented. JJ has his appearance in court in two weeks.

Oh wait I just thought of how I could love it even more. After all the OT characters have died by either their own hands or the hands of others; Rey shows up, goes up to the place where Luke is; hands Luke the saber- and Luke draws back his hood- his eyes are yellow! He's a Sith now! Luke hisses and ignites his saber cutting Rey in half! *swipe to credit fanfare*

The biggest reason it might be likely that we get more of Luke is that I can't imagine Abrams passing on the opportunity to work with Mark Hamill more. Since he isn't doing the sequels this is his one chance to direct Luke Skywalker, would he really pass on that and save Luke for a cameo finale apperance?

I've read some posts and I've had a couple ideas formulate. And all will be revealed in the flashback scene thanks to Maz.

    1. Young Kylo is seen being given to Luke by Han and Leia for training.
    2. Rey is Luke's daughter
    3. The Academy is attacked and Kylo is kidnapped, what better way to defeat the Resistance than to steal the General's own son?
    4. Luke is shunned by Han and Leia and he is ashamed and wants to go into hiding (Like Yoda and Obi-Wan did when they failed to defeat DS and DV)
    5. With his wife and students dead, he uses the force to wipe his daughter's memory of the events and he sends her to an old Imperial planet, Jakku where the First Order or Darkside users wouldn't look for her, this gives her a complete different identity. (See Darth Revan in KOTOR)
    6. Luke had found his lightsaber after the duel on Cloud City and it had been a gift for Rey when she was old enough, he put the information of his location into the lightsaber, and gave it to someone. And when the time was right they would give it to her when she regained her memory and she would find him and train to help stop her cousin.
    7. Somewhere along that line the lightsaber arrived back at Jakku (doesn't make much sense) and the FO knows and is looking for it so they can kill Luke and destroy the Jedi for good.
    8. The resistance relies that they need Luke to help defeat the FO and Leia sends Poe to get the lightsaber.
    9. This flashback reawakens Rey's mind and her connection to the Force, this is why she runs out of Maz's castle upset, she sees the images of the dead students.

That's why in the final scene she will be prepared to be a Jedi and face her destiny by her father's side.
