SPECULATION The Knights Of Ren - Do they still exist ??

They do. After Rey gets tortuted by Snoke we c Rey putting on KR's robes, helmet & lightsasber !

I think they appear only in the flashback Academy.

 

We know there will be a flashback scene of the destruction of Luke's temple. We've already seen it in the trailer. So, I guess this is the only moment where we'll see the KOR in action.

 

I reckon it'll be the only scene we see Luke with his lightsabre. Slashing up the KOR! I hope it's a Vader-esque scene

 

I'm starting to think the Knights of Ren may have been promoted as Snoke's Praetorian Guards. They don't seem to use the same weapons as the Knights of Ren, but the fact that each guard seem to have one preferred weapon got me thinking that Snoke may have decided to have them close to him and further from Kylo.

 

@Jerec I had thought that as well, but the numbers don't seem to add up. Unless they added to the ranks.

 

You may be right. I don't know how many Praetorian Guards there are in total, so if indeed there are more than six, then the theory doesn't really hold up anymore.

 

Before TFA came out, the KoR were probably the most intriguing new addition to the franchise. I hope they get fleshed out at some point.

 

@Jerec this is complete hearsay, but I think I remember reading there were 8 or 9. Could be completely wrong. Someone that knows better can correct me.

 

Those were my thoughts exactly. But since the KoR were JJ's babies, perhaps they will be explored further in Ep. IX since he's back on board the franchise and he did say at some point that he would love to see a KoR movie. Or maybe Kylo has to wipe them in The Last Jedi as part of his dark side training with Snoke. Only 2 months before The Last Jedi hits the theaters!

 

At this point I highly doubt they're in the movie, at least not unless it's a flashback. Mainly because they've been completely absent from the marketing. The praetorian guards are all over the marketing and merchandising, and probably have a smaller role in the film than the knights of ren would. So why wouldn't they do the same for 6 cool looking darksiders? I don't think Disney would pass up the opportunity to market the heck out of these guys lol.

Although making Star Wars did report that there was an action scene involving the KoR a long time ago. But since then it seems like they retracted that. Has anyone ever followed up with makingstarwars on that?

 

RJ also got rid off JJ's version of the AT-AT briefly scene on SKB.

 

As quiet as the leaks and marketing and any real true spoilers by Rian Johnson;I'm gonna say that we'll find TLJ full of surprises including some KoR.

 

Well they are known to 'infiltrate' stuff. They'll probably keep them under wraps for now just like they did in TFA. They wear mask for a reason. They are almost like the final 5 (in this case - 6) from Battlestar Galactica. When they hear the pretty tune they reveal themselves

 

I hope so. Since the trailer looks set to be very misleading, combined with the exclusion of Canto Bight, all the new characters plus the rumored 150 minute runtime - I think I'll agree with you.

 

I think the Praetorian Guards are 8. There was a book that confirmed it.
