Reading a book should not be mandatory.
The book should provide depth and background information sure.
But it shouldnt be vital to understanding the plot.

Granted I dont think that will be the case.

 

Guys I found something else interesting in the teaser trailer. Originally I thought Rey is levitating these pieces of rock and the she levitates herself, and then falls to the ground. But, it seems there is an air vent or grill in the rock/pebbles scene. So maybe she's not doing the levitating and that air is pushing up through the vent.

Is this an air vent to the underground temple? Looks too black to be a part of the Falcon. Interesting, huh?

 

I hope his 'physical role' doesn't mean screaming, running and getting beat up.

Oh the Jedi aren't going to end, not while there's still money to be made.

 

There is no racist treatment of finn. In fact he drives the entire film. Yes the idea of bait and switch or operation red herring is frustrating. would it make you feel better if they switched him an poe? give him 10 minutes of screen time and no real effect on the story or the main character? Finn is not rey. TFA was reys movie, this trilogy appears to be reys story so let it go. enjoy the chracters for who they are and what they do. Not hold them to some social justice hierarchy

That is kind of cool when you think about it. not sure how that will matter in a universe with force users but could make for some cool scenes with him and phasma. Interesting thing is he was supposed to undergo a transformation in the orginal script. After the tie crash he was to be rescued by locals and have a rebirth of sorts. Which unlocked his force powers.

the battle between light and dark is not just a jedi / sith thing. i think they are just the ones that have done the dance trying to control the fate of the galaxy. I don't think they will actually end them. if anything you will see a change like in the DH comics where the Jedi faded out and the Imperial Knights became the primary force users in the galaxy.

that kind of scene could be comedic gold

So what was the answer? The people she's looking for are those who she remembers dropping her off. The one who could come back is Luke. Neither are affirmative or negative.

If Luke is her Father, doesn't make the statement flawed unless one of those who left her on Jakku indeed come back.

 

Well that is precisely what I am getting at. Both "not a Skywalker" and "Surely a Skywalker" people hear that line as proof. The not a Skywalker side hears your family is gone, but you can bring some who can help the galaxy back. The surely a Skywalker side hears that and thinks the people who dropped you on Jakku won't be coming back to get you but you can go to find your dad. They fill in the subtleties of the line with the details of their theory.

Not accusing one side over the other. I did it too.

Clearly we need a Special Star Wars Edition of Maury.

 

I'm one who wants her to be a Skywalker bad, the name must carry on, and if Luke has no children, it won't. But I have no idea if she is. It seems logical, and they seem to point at it, but that isn't always the case.

I'll accept whatever it is, but if Ben Skywalker no longer exist, it will depress me some that it's over for Skywalker. Luke is to old to start a family now. Ben Solo have Skywalker blood, but neither of his parents were named Skywalker.

 

Skywalker and/or Chosen One do have advantages.
Its a short explanation for why she was Powerful with the Force.
It doesnt totally cover it but its a good start.

Rando no chosen One....and her quick mastery of Force Powers is way more of a problem.

 

The force sensetivity was never intended to be hereditary.

I find it more compelling of a hero's journey to come from insignificance rather than through blood.

It is already established that the force is used subconsciously in force sensitive people. Qui-gon noted that Anakin's reflexs were fast because he sees things before they happen.

It really does feel like they're dispensing with some old Star Wars lore with the de facto end of the Sith, the potential end of the Old Jedi Order, it stands to reason that they might also end the Skywalker line... at least through Anakin. Did we ever get confirmation that Anakin was Shmi's only child? Either way, even though I'm on the fence (in particular because of the heavy allusion to the fact that the light saber of Anakin and Luke, called out to her), I do kind of believe that Rey ultimately won't be a Skywalker. It's only us older fans that have the attachment to the Skywalker lineage... new fans don't really care.

 

In regards to the Millennium Falcon scene with the tie fighters, does anyone think this could take place in a new Cloud City type planet? Or is it just them leaving Ach-to

 

leaving Ach-to i presume. I actually think all the footage in the trailer (aside from the shot of Kylo Ren and the forceback) are from the first 3rd of the film, the first act.

Nothing in the trailer seems to come from beyond the half way point. and I think that is a good move on the film makers part. I don't assume however than Luke, Rey & Chewie are all leaving in the falcon to go to see leia. I think Rey will be leaving Ach-to in the company of the first order. but thats just speculation.

Yeah I don't necessarily care if Rey is a Skywalker except for the fact that I will be super disappointed if the Skywalker name dies out. Is there ANY chance that Luke could have a child that we just haven't seen yet? Yeah, I don't think so either.
