I'm not sure if it would be wise for them to actively engage in disinformation because that could backfire on them. What if people end up falling in love with the rumors only to be later sorely disappointed when they actually see the movie and it fails to live up to the expectations they had been creating for themselves for over a year from the false stories that were being fed to them?

I do, however, believe it possible that a number of these "leakers" are actually professional PR people who are intentionally letting information out there in a very gradual way so as to sustain excitement and interest in the fan community over the period of time between now and the release of the film. In other words, many of these "leaks" could be part of an officially sanctioned hype campaign designed to keep people thoroughly engrossed in discussions about the movie for as long as possible. If people get too many "leaks" too soon, they'll think they already know everything and the movie will drop off their radars. If people don't get any "leaks" at all, they'll think there's nothing to talk about and, again, lose interest in the film. So it's plausible that many of these "leaks" were orchestrated by Disney's PR people with the aim of finding a "middle path" between too much information ahead of time and no information ahead of time, both of which would be potentially deleterious to public fascination with the film.

 

Yeah I remember seeing that someone showed up to just dump on you in particular with those personal attacks...

Hum... I have a feeling that "spoilerman" while partially bullcrap, might not be completely full of crap.

A lot of what he is saying sounds like extrapolations based on things he is seeing too me... It matches some of the newer spoilers superficially, but I am not sure if they match older spoilers as well.

If he does work on the movie he is probably a freaking caterer or something.

 

I do suspect that some of the information spoilerman "leaked" out there may be true like finding the ancient sith master and kylo ren collecting sith artifacts.

Well "Making Star Wars" just posted a spoiler thing http://makingstarwars.net/2015/02/star-wars-force-awakens-main-cast-rumors-galore/ that includes some stuff I was swear was in spoiler-mans collective information (although I may be mis-remembering)

Finn and Poe being in a brig, crashing tie fighter, Max von Sydow: A former Rebel Alliance veteran now dealing in antiquities (spoilerman made a big deal about how Max Von Sydows character collected relics), Rey’s last name: Her real name is revealed through Han Solo much to the surprise of Finn and Poe (spoiler man also said it was shocking to Poe and Finn), Gleeson being an imperial and son of important character (although spoiler-man made it sound like he as a double agent and not a defector).

And generally Making Star Wars seems to be a more reliable source.

This whole post has stuff up and down that superficially matches spoiler-man spoilers, but both spoiler groups have different conclusions about what they are seeing it seems. Spoiler man says that the relics Max Von Sydow are collecting are important, the Making Star Wars leaker says that he is an antiquities dealer... both leakers obviously saw him with something old, and likely an identifiable object (otherwise how would he know its old in hte context of a fictional universe?) and drew their own conclusions about why he had tehse old things.

 

it would be fun to think that those tie fighter aircrafts we see in the trailer were actually stolen by the rebel alliance after the fall of the empire and that finn, rey, and han solo are just having fun with the spaceships.
