What if saying Baby Yoda was 50yrs was a lie to conceal its identity? What if Mando was set up, and IG-11 was suppose to terminate it?

I have a feeling that the whole 50yrs thing was just a deception so Mando didn’t know what the asset was; he was just to help clear the way to it. He was underestimated.

I don't know much about film making or acting, so what are some examples of issues with his directing? I'm not being a smartass, I'd genuinely like to learn.

Also, that Long-Snoot calling a new ride with a flute gave me Legend of Zelda vibes.

they say they know the last 4 of his identification making it 50 years old, implying it's the birth year

Dr. Pershing's initial response to proof of termination leads me to believe otherwise. "The Client" was pragmatic about death being an option, but the Imperial cloner clearly was against that.

    Remaining randoms:

    1. To track an asset, they had to have its dna, right?

    2. Foundlings are raised by the whole tribe?

    3. Was that Mon Cala Caviar the Mandalorian was paid with?

    4. If the lifespan of Yoda's (+/-900) species is ten times the rate of humans(+/-90), wouldn't a 50 year old baby be a 5 year old toddler?

A full grown Yoda is only 2 feet tall. Maybe that "baby" IS comparably 5.

It certainly could be. The fact is we don't know the ins and outs of the situation just yet. I have a feeling this is deeper than just a simple job to pick up "an asset."

Same here. They're definitely paying a lot of homage to Spaghetti Westerns... The scene with Mando shooting every one up with that laser turret reminded me instantly of Django shooting every one up with the machine gun in the Sergio Corbucci's original movie from 1966. The same with the following scene with all the dead bodies.

Darn I need to go back and watch this one again. It's been far too long. I'd totally forgotten about this scene.

Hard to explain - I felt like pacing was a little bit off during certain parts. At points I thought it doesn't flow particularly well. It's hard for me to put my finger on what exactly is wrong, because I'm not a director either. ;) But for the most part I'm happy with Dave's effort, he did great!

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear enough - I was speaking about Yoda's race as a mystery purely from the perspective of fans. I meant the viewing experience, not how it is within the universe.

I love the Sergio Leone / Ennio Morricone spaghetti western vibe this has. They completely nailed it! Knocked it out of the park!

I’m hopping this leads to the Obi-Wan series having an old Samurai movie vibe. Please please please please please!

Anyone know what time to expect the second episode? Friday@6am? Tonight at midnight?

My wager is on the pacing being intentionally modelled after older western styles, which means slow beats with unusual rhythms - what comes after/before a shot is motivated by a visual prose ambition rather than connecting exactly between sequential logical flow of the usual observation > motivation > expectation, which moves more intuitively.
The old westerns, and this, move like a beatnik snaps; employing concepts like rest and refrain in a film language, and at a drunken like pattern of tempo where slow moments can occur in intense scenes for seemingly no reason, while other sections skip whole narrative tangents as implied and not needed.

If you want to see this effect, this is pretty geeky, but turn your picture settings so that the picture is terribly blurred (or put a sheet of semi-opaque material in front of it) and crank the contrast.
In this way, you're forced to see only the basic forms of light and color. Hit play.

It's a neat trick that allows you to see the rhythm more easily in shows.

If you can think of any scenes that caught you off balance in pacing, let me know; I'd love to examine them.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

This is relevant to the show overall, but thought I'd post it here in case you all missed it live (like I did)...

Perfectly stated man. This is totally a western set in space. There is a video by Star Wars Alert on YouTube (you all should check it out). They took the theme from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and set clips from Star Wars to the music. It is brilliant.

On the Baby Yoda front and the 50 years old question. People say hey at 100 Yoda was a Jedi teacher. So how does a Baby Yoda grow so slow 1st 50 years and then next 50 years accelerate enough to become a Jedi and start teaching. Maybe Yoda species starts as some sort of egg/larval phase and the 50 year old one has just hatched/emerged.

    Thoughts?

Another thought. I know my initial thought is that Mandalorian will save the little booger. What if at the end of the year he ends up not being able to save him? And the old imperials get ahold of the little guy. Goes along with the Palpatine needs force sensitives to regain corporeal form. TROS comes out with 1 episode of The Mandalorian left. What if in TROS we get that explanation, then in the season finale of The Mandalorian the old imperials get the baby.

I’ve given this too much thought but it is a bit odd. Unless Yoda’s don’t age consistently which I guess can be possible, that means that THE Yoda technically died at 18-20 human years old. I hope it isn’t an oversight. Maybe they don’t age consistently, maybe it’s not actually a baby? Maybe instead it’s actually like 5 years old and Yoda’s age at a rate of 10 years for every 1 human year. That would put Yoda’s death at around 90 years old which is far more plausible. Or maybe, as mentioned above, they weren’t being entirely truthful about the age of the thing for... some reason.

Yes, sometimes am bored so i do things like this.

Constable Zuvio has been one of those characters that has certain mistery and invites you to know more about him, specially when appeared a cool action figure during TFA.

Now, I see this in my second viewing of The Mandalorian.

Maybe not Zuvio, but one of his fellers, cause the 2 red parts of the helmet...
    constable-zuvio_2814b373.jpeg
...but, while telling you all this, I see in Wookiepedia that he is listed in the Mandalorian Chapter 1!! So...

I want to see more of him!

And that's all. Cheers my dear Maclunkeys

Anything is possible, although, and this isn't necessarily my opinion but I can certainly imagine a portion of the fanbase complaining about it.
