The Mandalorian S1E8 - Season Finale

Creators of Solo and Mandalorian be like: Well, there's not gonna be any lightsabers in this Star War......SURPRISE, female dogs!

 

The finale just blew my mind; so good. Felt like watching a movie, so many things happening, so many revelations. The story was captivating with so many emotional moments and it had some great action too. A perfect ending to a great season. Loved everything about it.

When does Season 2 come out???

 

i cried through the whole show, but probably for the wrong reasons. er....

that said, i liked it? will have to watch again.
loved the wretched biker scouts at the beginning, loved IG-11, loved the TIE fight, loved the armorer.

might be in the minority on this one, but though i love Moff Gideon, i'm not that excited about the dark saber; wasn't a fan of it in Rebels, either.

i love that Mando has been officially tasked with fathering babyoda until restoring him to his people.
i hope season two focuses more on Mando looking for them than just taking random jobs, though i suspect he'll have to take jobs to sustain himself along the way.

 

I haven't watched Rebels and only a few episodes of TCW (not a big fan of animated movies/series) so didn't even know what a dark saber is...thought it was really badass though!

That was truly epic season finale! Totally worth the longer waiting!

IG-11 made a great deal of his programming protocols. Too bad that he self destructed, he would make a great side arm to Mando. The Moff is in possession of the DARKSABER, OMG the DARKSABER is back! Does he know how to use it? That was totally unexpected, are we having an imperial jedi ( ok, dark force user )?

I am very sad about the mandalorians, they seemed to be a nice gang, and very useful too. Good that at least the armorer survived. She made a great closing of her appearance fighting those troopers only with her tools

In total I would summarize that this was really great season, I watched TRoS last week, I can't believe that they managed so good serial and so poor full movie. I hope they keep the mandalorian so strong also in the second season! I can't wait for second season

 

All episodes are cool cause are SW.
No the best but still rrally cool, specially the end.

For me this episode has little details that make the story not so plausible.

Love the 2 biker scouts at the beginning. Hilarious. Maybe a little bit exagerated the missing shots (dear Lord, IG is in front of him and still misses lol) but it's a "different" moment, like a Tarantino movie conversation but with Star Wars armors.
Ouch, and the biker punching McLunkey... bastard.

IG against an entire company with a baby in its arms was a bit exagerated too. And all stormtroopers missing shots too, specially when Cara grabbing Mando without problems.

All the escape and shot/fire scenes had some poor resolutions, for me bad planned action sequencies.

In flashback as well, all the family not entering on that hole was strange. Plenty space for all.

Some slow dialogs in mandos cave but not a problem of course. But in here there are interesting parts related to Jedi and McLunkey race. Can't wait where Mando will go in season 2, finding Jedi and force staff? Luke?

Second part was cooler. Love the fly of the TIE and all McLunkey scenes. Seing the dark saber was so great!!
First we hear the sound, and I thought it was a Moff's Jedi lightsaber. But seing the connection with Rebels and Mandos was really cool.

because i am the worst parts of both cynical and sentimental, and the show is clearly made with love.

 

Definitely cursed out loud Samuel Jackson style when Gideon brandished the Darksaber.

 

Finally got over my excitement and managed to compile a list of the best/most interesting bits from the finale (in my opinion):

We get to know the Mandalorian's name and see his face; also learn all of his backstory.
We learn that Cara Dune comes from Alderaan.
IG-11 making Mando trust - and care for - droids and sacrificing itself with an epic heroic death that saves everyone.
The Armorer taking out the entire group of Stormtroopers with just her tools.
Mando getting his signet (The Clan of Two!) and his jetpack.
A lot of information revealed about the Mandalorians and made or re-confirmed to be a part of the new canon (Mandalorians confirmed to be a creed, Mandalorian/Jedi war from the Old Republic, the Night of 1000 Tears, Moff Gideon leading the massacre of the Mandalorians as an Imperial Security Bureau officer who was later supposed to have been executed for war crimes)
Baby Yoda pushing back the flames of a flame thrower.
Baby Yoda being acknowledged as a foundling and Mando being tasked with taking care of him and bringing him to "those of his kind" ("enemy sorcerers" haha) - probably meaning that we're going to have Mando looking for the new Jedi in the Core Worlds in Season Two???
And last but not the least - Moff Gideon coming out of the crash alive and standing on the TIE fighter holding a DARKSABER!!!

Now I'm too excited again.

 

Can you (or anyone) explain that Mandalorian/Jedi war from the Old Republic bit? I don't know what that is about.

Thank you! I was thinking that it had to be something ancient the way the Armorer spoke about it, not just the Clone Wars stuff. If it's a collection of conflicts over the ages, that makes sense.

 

So we aren't even going to talk about the imp in the smelter?? That was a nice fight scene. The opening with troopers was great them shooting at the can. IG-11 removing Mando's helmet and then the whole T2 moment damn. This show has been good since the get go. Come on baby do the magic hand thing. I have found myself enjoying those small little things.

 

Good God this show just keeps getting better. F&F just get it. I don't know if I've been this thrilled with a SW product since the OT. I feel like my nine-year-old self stepping out of TESB all over again! Bravo.

I just binged-watched Rebels over the Christmas break. First time I'd gone back and rewatched the entire series. It holds up extremely well -- in fact, I appreciated it better this time around. So I was primed when Gideon brandished a Darksaber. Total geek-out moment!

 

So....is Filoni going back to the well with Ahsoka now since Dyn has his marching orders from the Armorer to find a Jedi?

I doubt we get Luke. An Ahsoka/Sabine/Ezra/Thrawn casting drama would be easier to swallow for this pathological fanbase.

 

I have no idea what they will do in the next season. I doubt they will have Luke, Leia, or any other Original Trilogy characters in it, so who could Djarin talk to who would know about the child? Who's been around for a really long time and knows about the Force? Maz Kanata! I'd love a quick Maz cameo where she drops some cool info on us. It would be awesome too if Djarin is involved with how Maz gets the graflex saber she has in The Force Awakens.
