Even if that happens (which I doubt), that will still be a cliffhanger, Mandalorians left once again without the leader, discouraged, especially if Gideon is the one who kills her and has a fleet larger than theirs (which he probably has). And with destruction of Bo's home, we are clearly not talking just about one planet, but possibly the entire Mandalorian system. That will take some time retaking...

Man, they really, really do. Catastrophizing is the new black. Also, new shade of click bait.

One thing that a number of posters to this thread have noted is that Lizzo’s acting was bad and there wasn’t any chemistry between her character and Jack Black’s. I purposely didn’t identify any of them because the take I’m about to make is about ME, not them. But it’s a perspective I think is important to voice regarding TV and movies designed for an increasingly multicultural society.

Quite a few years ago, a blockbuster movie came out called The Bodyguard starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. I saw it and thought it was an ‘okay’ flick but a coworker of mine thought it was a wonderful love story and one of her favorites of all time. I flatly told her I wasn’t keen on Whitney’s acting and failed to see any chemistry between the two. Sadly, it was years later that I became self-aware enough to realize what an idiot I’d been. I was looking at it through my young, naive, Midwestern, American white male eyes and was absolutely clueless how differently my African-American female colleague might have looked at it.

Looking back on that embarrassing memory, it helped me to broaden my perspective and think before criticizing something in a way that said more about me than it did the ‘acting’ or ‘the chemistry’ of a show featuring a multicultural couple. That’s not to say there can’t be bad acting or zero chemistry in any show, including one featuring a multicultural cast. But examine and understand your own reactions first.

I actually have a feeling that this season and the next will be locked in with each other the same way season 1 and 2 was, so I don't think we get to see the full on Moff Gideon stuff until season 4, it's either that or the Mandalore plot that gets drawn out. Possibly both. This season feels more like season 1, building it up, with a small reeard at the end and a semi-cliffhanger.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Season 3 ends similar to the way Season 1 did with a melodramatic shot of Moff Gideon, only this time in full Mandalorian gear.

Great Post!!! That is exactly what subjectivity of film means to me... its all subjective. I appreciate your honesty very much, great example.

I live under a rock and I don't know who Lizzo is, but she no doubt asked to hold Grogu the whole episode and I respect her for that. :D

Not to mention that a certain corner of the internet outright hates Lizzo for pretty shallow reasons, and wouldn't have given her a chance even if her acting was amazing.

The thing about the princess role is that It was written as a minor, one-dimensional character in the episode’s story. I suspect Favreau wrote it with a non-actor like Lizzie in mind. He certainly didn’t write the character to be nuanced or complex in any way.

Soooooooooooo, when internet pundits talk about Lizzo’s ‘horrible’ acting, what the hell are they talking about???!? What didn’t Lizzie convey that they expected to see? If the answer is ‘believability,’ what is THAT saying about THEM?

As a white male, I feel obligated to say that all of Lizzo’s YouTube critics that I’ve seen thus far (Echo Base, SW Theory, etc.) have been — surprise, surprise — white males.

Frankly, I know who Lizzo is in a very distant way. Case in point, I didn't even recognized her. And I had no opinion one way or another about her acting, because neither hers nor Jack Black's roles were written to be Macbeth and his wife. I don't know what franchise these people were watching, it's not like Star Wars is a place you earn Oscar in. Lizzo was perfectly serviceable and, honestly, cute. I loved the hologram cape.

He was pretty much purring in her arms. And he waved at her when Din took him away! Super cute. ♡

I thought this was a pretty great episode. Sometimes I find myself getting caught up in what the general reaction will be, and I'm getting much better about not really caring about that. For me, it was fun, campy, exciting with lots of good storytelling, plot advancement, and really good action sequences.

The opening, with the Quarren and Mon Cala prince was awesome. That story in itself could be a great movie. They went to all that trouble simply to show Axe Woves and his fleet acting as mercenaries? Beautiful.

Now. To the whole Jack Black and Lizzo thing. I loved it. Event the parts I didn't care for, were fun. Jack Black is just gonna be Jack Black. I heard his voice and immediately knew we were about to get a heaping helping of Jack Black in Star Wars, and damn, it's about time. And Lizzo did a really good job, I think. I'm finding it somewhat funny that most criticisms are about her acting. She's not an actor, first of all, though she does have personality enough to pull off this role. We didn't need an Oscar-level actress for that. I thought the chemistry between her and Jack to be perfect for the characters' relationship. Let's not lose the humor in the fact that at some time in the past, Jack Black was an Imperial Officer. Beautiful. I don't think anyone else could have pulled off the role of Captain Bombadier any better.

Now, to be honest, the Droid Law & Order episode within this episode, truly did go just a little bit long for me, and if any of the cameos this week were out of place, it has to be Christopher Lloyd. I guess I just expected a bigger role for him, then again, he did fit as the disenfranchised Separatist just lying in wait for years, plotting his move...
When Bo stuns him just before he utters a massive namedrop, and her reaction, "Politics..." That got the biggest chuckle of the week from me.

Here's the thing... I'm not convinced that some of this story is not going to fold back into the bigger storyline of the season/series. We have an Amnesty Program graduate, as a leader of an Independent Democratic System, vowing to support and put a revived Mandalore up for recognition within the NR, we also have a hint of Separatists still trying to cause chaos, former Sep and Imp droids that while not a threat themselves, necessarily, they are able to be manipulated for dubious uses. Somehow, somewhere, at some time, sooner or later, the events on Plazier-15 will come back into play.

On to the big payoff, the face-off between Bo-Katan and her former followers, led by Axe Woves. What a d!@k. I loved this fight. He straight up went LETHAL towards her several times, yet she responded with much more civil attacks and defenses every time. A true leader. She wants to overpower him, not kill him. She tells him, "too much Mandalorian blood has been spilled by our own hands" I love how she stands up for Din, defending his loyalty to the Creed and using his words to argue for unifying all Mandalorians. I love how Din explains that Bo has legitimately reclaimed possession of the Darksaber and puts it basically to a vote and does so at just the exact time that she needs that little boost to sway the group. Looking back to his little speech to her moments before on the train, we realize that he made his decision right then and there for what he was going to do. Beautiful.

Fun fact (or at least fun guess):

The Mon Calamari nobleman from the teaser at the beginning of the episode was a bounty Greef offered Din in chapter 3, "The Sin."

    Absolutely.
The material she got was not easy to work with and managed quite well.
I will get another point of view with the screenshots in my second viewing.

    A couple of fun thoughts...
In the past few days, I watched an interview with Katie Sackoff, and in regards to how her hair looks so good after removing her helmet, she joked that, "I always figured that Bo has Nano-droids to keep her hair looking good under there"

Then I saw an article where Jack Black mentioned that he used Darth Vader as an inspiration while voicing Bowser in the Mario Bros. Movie.

The clues are all around us, folks!

Ugh. Right? Y'know it's funny to me that someone like Lizzo can be denigrated for pushing body positivity. Why is it threatening that everybody would be comfortable in their own skin? SWT should be in favor of such a thing, considering he has that second butthole on his chin.

THAT is an incredible catch!!! Well done. I'm adopting that as a fact.

Great point, although, I've heard Star Wars Theory say he is not caucasian, so I wonder what his background really is?

( Years ago, when I worked at UPS, I befriended a coworker named Carl, he looks like a very young Keanu Reeves, who dressed in all black all the time. Black leather jacket, black T, black jeans, and black boots, but what really intrigued me about him, is that he brought to work these huge hardcover fantasy novels. I asked him about them, and we eventually became close friends. After work we would go to his apartment and play video games and paint his Warhammer figures, anyway I thought Carl was white. He looked white, but when his father left a message on his answering machine he had the same Haitian accent that my father has. Carl wasn't white he was mixed, yet he looked white and passed for white in society. All the white guys at work wanted him to become a supervisor... they didn't know his awful secret, only I did, and he used it well. He later would color my first self-published comic book when he worked for Kell-O-Graphics, a printing company that worked for all the major publishers. It was an honor to sit in those offices and see how they color comics that I grew up reading. All thanks to Carl, who is and always will be, a good friend).

The Echo Base guys are just appalling, they seem like nice guys but they're really not, it took me awhile but I eventually unsubscribed years ago.

The Echo Base guys don't want diversity in their Star Wars. They want Star Wars to look like the Original Trilogy which was filmed in the 70s and 80s.

I'm happy that they were honest about how they feel, that type of content is not for me, so I respectfully stopped following their channel.

Din also got paid for his work for Greef in Mon Cala squishy Flan coins, which he later used in season 2, chapter 11 ("The Heiress"), to pay the Mon Cala tavern keeper for "information" on Mandalorians. Not that I've rewatched this show a bunch of times or anything.

This is where I am with this.... It's live action Star Wars and there's a huge audience for it. Some people may like it, some people hate it. It doesn't really matter. If you like it great, if you didn't cool.

I love Mando and love we're getting new world building in this era.

From the moment Mando walked into that Cantina in Chapter 1, there hasn't been much if anything done lazy or without purpose. I like that they are changing things up with the feel and even being a little more silly at times. People have complained that there weren't any "mission of the week" episodes, and now they complain when we get one. People complained about the S3 premiere because he jumped around too much. Now they complain when he doesn't...

They have a task to recruit Mandalorians. They did that, and along the way, they met some interesting characters and had an adventure. Isn't that what a lot of folks have been wanting this season? It was fun. It was Star Warsy. It had great callbacks and cameos. Oh, yeah... THEY ALSO RESOLVED AN UNDERLYING MAJOR PLOT THREAD THAT Y'ALL HAVE BEEN WANTING FOR TWO YEARS NOW!!! Also, we have no idea how the so-called "fluff" of this episode will play in to the story in the future.
