TLJ not bringing fans in to multi watch like previous episodes

Not to mention that these polls are taken immediately after the movie which emans that it had no time to settle in and they are not taken anonymously. People are usually more polite when they are among groups of other people and/or are interviewed by a real person.

 

That's a good point, they have no time to think and process what it is they just saw.

TFA was in cinemas when the kids were out of school, so that can be the explanation. And TFA was the first star wars movies since 10 years

 

As we predicted it would. It will be hard for any film to pass TFA. The hype was tremendous...understandably so.

 

And I am eternally 12 yrs old.....just ask my 3 sons ages 10, 13 and 14.....

 

As Deadline reports... the film is doing fine. It's clear though that the vocal minority just didn't hate the film, they'll do anything to convince others to hate it. Look at the behavior in this forum. There's a handful of accounts who keep creating negative threads, posting nonsense links. etc.

 

It's not underperforming...and it doesn't need to surpass TFA. That's silly

 

Makes my heart sad. It's manipulative, toxic, and ruins parts of the experience for fans.

 

There is also less showings because of the run time.

I actually looked into going today but the most convenient showings would have ended a bit late for a lawyer that gets out of work late and has to be up for court in the morning. The runtime may limit the box office draw (the reason why Justice League....ugh....limited its runtime....well...among other ridiculous studio things).

 

No, I'm not saying it needed to. It could come in way under TFA, money wise, and still be a huge success.

 

I hope they hate it so much they find another hobby. Their toxic attitudes are the worst. Some of the stuff directed at Rian Johnson and the Star Wars social media sites/accounts is embarrassing.

 

Therapy could be the new hobby.

 

I've encountered plenty of posts from people on other websites who have seen the movie more than once.

It's a Box Office success.
It will not reach Force Awakens numbers, that we already knew (same for every sequels from Star Wars trilogy starter).

On my part of the world, word is also very polarized... but "normal people" (those who didn't show up in costumes for the premiere), will go see it anyway because it's "Star Wars", they don't care about upset fans and petitions and such.

What I hear in the news here is that people who have seen and loved the movie are getting confused on why the hate from the fans.

I plan on seeing it a few more times and it’s not even in my top 3 favorites. It’s still Star Wars after all and after 35 years of watching the films hundreds of times I’m still enjoying the ride.

I actually don't like that curve. The steep drop-off over the last day or two is not good. It might straighten out, or it might come in lower than Rogue One. Impossible to see, the future is.

 

How can you compare box office numbers with TFA anyway.

That was the first Star Wars film with OT cast in decades. It was singular experience and cannot be replicated.

I'm not talking about the quality of the films at all, about them as events.
