here is the thing, I was talking last night about this. I wish I had time to run back through the spoilers from ep1 month by month leading up to the movie and compare the amount of info. I know we all knew what the basic outline of the prequels was about, but really we didn't know where it was going to start so it is the best reference point we have.
as an old schooler and someone that has been spoiling myself on star wars movies from the collection of magazine days in 81
I feel like 10 months out we had WAY more for ep1 than we do for ep7
we had tons of behind the scenes both official and not, pictures, props showing up on ebay
we had design drawings script leaks.
I feel like we think we know way more than we do.
Most of what we have is speculation and "fill in the gaps" between what we really do have, many things I feel have been repeated so often that those that even have limited access are starting to believe the connective tissue.
I dont mind being spoiled at all it is fun for me living in that world for an extended time.
I am worried though that there will be disappointment with the inserted parts that we have come up with that wont ACTUALLy be in the movie.
we are taking piece A and piece E and filling in the rest with what would get us from this to that. when in reality our vision with all the characters and points we have come up with would make it a 4 hour movie....not going to happen. things will be brushed over and barely seen on screen. Star Wars is a simple concept of a heros journey and space opera. it never has been as complex as we are making it with all the background and years of fandom we are adding in.

I WANT MORE. i don't know if we are going to get much more though.
I am hoping as MArk stated that at least seeing a lot of great movies this summer will distract me for a week here and a week there, cause JJ and team have done what I think is a great job at keeping close to the chest, a lot better job than GL did when making his movies.....

I'm so glad I'm not alone in this feeling. Ever since I read MSW's BIG spoiler post I have been questioning whether I should be on his site and, even at times, this site. I love this community but I am really weary about Star Wars being completely spoiled for me. I just wanted to know about the stuff Spoilerman talked about. He didn't say anything about the third act. Only the setting and backstories of the characters and some basic info about the production.

I feel I have gotten too eager to just click on all these spoiler links instead of thinking, "Maybe I shouldn't." I think I'll be treading softly from now on with the spoilers. Hopefully it's not too late.

    No worries!

I could have read the script and I will still go see the movie more than once in the theater and be in awe (hopefully).

I think we all pretty much knew what the prequel was going to be about 10 months out...hell even before that. We knew we would see Anakin and a young Obi. Jar Jar was the terrifying surprise as was the awful script/acting.

I don't believe we have all the information for the entirety of TFA and I would never consider any real info as a "spoiler" -- an incredible misnomer if there ever was one -- as such information won't spoil anything about TFA for me. I will see Episode VII multiple times regardless if I know any info about it in advance. There is too much that we don't know, and we don't know whether any of the information we have received is accurate or not. I believe some portion of the info is legitimate and take it on good faith that the info put out on this site and MSW is accurate -- as the folks who run these sites believe it may be and are thus willing to put their reputations on the line to post such info.

For that reason I'm almost expecting that he'll have very little screentime in the film. If he ends up having more than just an appearance at the end, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I wonder if it'd be possible to have some sort of option on our accounts to hide any threads tagged with "Spoiler". Then it'd be more just about the mods occasionally policing various threads and applying the tag if needed. Thus you wouldn't have to worry about your trigger happiness regarding them. :p

I think we've got it like 20% covered. There's no way the people at Disney are letting the entire plot leak without some action of their part. I have a strong belief that many of these rumors are being sent out purposefully by Disney. I mean, it's highly unlikely that the people who worked on this film would give away such detailed information, especially considering the hefty penalties and the prospect of losing all credibility in the industry.

We have a general idea of how the movie will work. Everything about it is not spoiled.

I have not read any of the spoilery articles here lately. I heard that there was some doozies in there. Can someone tell me though if the whole hand and lightsaber floating through space thing is still going around?

We may think we know a lot but in reality we know very little. Even if you take the recent MSW info as being true we still don't know much. As others have posted there is a lot more to a movie than words on a piece of paper and that is mostly all we have. Besides most of those words are rumor and speculation. JJ has admitted that some of it is true but we don't know what is and what isn't. Over the next few months we may learn more but at this time I would say the movie has not been spoiled.

MSW has done a terrific job describing the opening and final scenes with 100% super-verified proof. If the middle has been spoiled, then it shapes up like this: A group of characters trying to get off a sand planet so that they can fight in a castle and stop Death Star 3....and Leia wears grey.

And then there's a bunch of cool concept art that's been described (but not seen)--maybe some of those concepts will show up in a space battle? I haven't really scene spoilers about that. So yeah, I think there's a lot of movie that we (except MSW) don't know about.

Can't tell if 100% verified is sarcastic, but I'm assuming so. It's far from verified.

We will probably know most of the plot points once we see the next 2 trailers and they release the toys.

The whole movie will be spoiled once they release the novelization.

I know that there are many that will disagree, but I wish that all film novelizations were not released until a couple of weeks after the film's release date.

Simply for business reasons, having the novel and screenplay emerge before the theatrical release is lucrative - they are part of the hype machine. Sales are likely to be much higher prior than after. Possiby, the screenplay will be incorporated in The Art of Episode VII hardcover scheduled for release in early November as happened with some earlier volumes in the series.
