I certainly don't disagree with that sentiment, but I do think that it's a point that didn't really need to be made. We see younglings in the prequel trilogy.

    Jedi aren't allowed to love.

We could draw our own conclusions that force sensitivity is not inherently genetic.

Re: The Clone Wars TV show...as an OT fan, I found that nothing helped me reconcile with the PT more. I'm grateful for the Ahsoka-Anakin-Obi-Wan dynamic there that helped me find peace with the Anakin of RotS.

Oh, it's always been a part of SW. But since it's a strong aspect of Rey being a "random," RJ might have thought a reminder was necessary.

This. How can people see this as a Star Wars end? Resistance barely survived the trashing, but they did to fight another day... #PineForNine. :D

This is what helped me take a re-look at the prequels. Thought I loved ROTS even the first time I saw it.

    After-credits scene?

And then the voice of Mace Windu saying: "There was an idea..."

    Wait, wrong multiverse!

For me it is soon to say that, I mean I loved it and two months later I'm still really excited about it, but I do agree it is a good one.

I have always said that TCW has vindicated the prequels for me. I think we have a better depiction of Anakin as a character, and having him with a padawan to learn from him it is quite interesting and shows a very interesting side of him as well.

"Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is essential to a Jedi's life. So you might say, that we are encouraged to love."

    LOL.

I often joked here on the boards that The Clone Wars are my prequels. The show helped me see the story of the prequels in the new light: while I still dislike execution, at least I appreciate the greater story especially concerning the hubris of the Jedi order.

For over the top I'd say in the TPM it would be Jar Jar, in AOTC parts such as R2 and 3PO on that conveyor belt with 3PO's head placed on a Battle droids body and in ROTS with R2D2's ability to fly just to name a few. It's been a short while since I watched the PT but I'm sure there's more I could list if I viewed them again.

I agree I also don't think the CGI has aged that well, one of the drawbacks of having so much CGI in a film although on the plus side that CGI can always be updated.

i think you were one of the people who convinced me to watch it.
and because you said it vindicated the PT; that was what intrigued me.
i never wanted to hate the PT, but there is was, all lumpy and sour.
and even Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan couldn't save it.

i'd say i still disliked about 2/3 of the Clone Wars, but i'm glad for the 1/3 that i really really liked.
yeah, i think C3PO and R2D2 both got the fuzzy end of the lolly in the PT. : o p

Yeah, I've started rewatching it recently, and while there are some incredible arcs, I'm amazed at how much I dislike some of them. I'm also pretty amazed at how much Jar Jar they cram into that first season. The Rodian episode and the Florrum pirates episode pretty much have the exact same beats with him- Jar Jar is a weird clutz who ends up saving the day in the end. Only problem is, they're only a handfull of episodes apart, so it comes off very strangely. Then, the Shadow virus stuff happens right afterward with him, too.

LOL and failing miserably! ("I don't like sand...")

And even so, two movies in and ended up married with the girl!

    Which reminds me of:

I was definitely thinking maybe it was too early but meh, if I change my mind later then I change my mind.

    --

I must admit that I'm somewhat of a Clone Wars noob, I've seen a good chunk of the episodes, mostly the earlier seasons... I stopped watching after Season 3... (WHICH WAS SEVEN YEARS AGO HOLY...) with Rebels ending I'd like to go back to TCW and re-watch the whole series. It's something I should have done long ago and I regret it. I know there's tons of tie-in's in Rebels that I just flat out miss or don't fully understand and I feel like it hinders my experience with Rebels and probably the prequels as well.

But anyway, just putting this out there for anyone to answer, I've heard plenty of times that the episodes aren't exactly in order. Should I watch in order of release or should I try to order the episodes the "right" way and watch it like that?

I'd recommend you to go over the episodes in the correct order. I did it right as they are on Netflix and it is not really a big deal, but at some point you get a little bit confused with the order of the episodes and the characters.

i honestly can't even remember it well enough. the stuff i really liked stuck with me (Ahsoka, Satine), the stuff i really disliked stuck with me (Mortis, the wee Padawans). everything in between is lost to the mists of time ~ hahahaha

i watched it in release order because i was too lazy to try to figure out what went where. i don't recall having a hard time following it, but i also don't remember it very well and there were some arcs that just bored me silly so i mighta kinda skimmed a little. : o [

I actually typed up a list for myself yesterday, since I started watching again. I even organized it by arc. The underlined episodes are ones that I consider ones that should be watched- the rest I consider skippable. Hope this helps!

Wow! You don't recomend Zygerria or the Clovis trilogies? Those are two of my favorites! I'd also recomend the unfinished episodes and the Son of Dathomir comic.

Great thread! Great to hear about other people's SW's stories and pet hates. There is something for everyone in this universe, I think, although sometimes people don't know how to find it... or at least that's what I keep saying to my friends who don't like SW (Shock. Horror. What's wrong with them?!)

I was introduced to Star Wars at the age of ten when the first film ever premiered in the cinema. I never looked back. I returned to the cinema 10 times to rewatch it (I had a special pass and could go to the cinema in my town for free) and invited all my friends, one at a time, to come along and see it! Happy times. And that's what Star Wars is for me: Happy childhood times. Friendship. Revisiting a world of space, space ships, blowing planets, cool costumes, scary baddies, a sassy princess, a dreamy eyed boy, the funniest handsomest man I had ever seen (Harrison Ford... Swoon) and my favorite cinema character for life. So much fun, so many possibilities. I remember playing at home using tennis rackets as blasters and an a broken sweeping brush as a saber. I was blooming broom boy!

I pick and choose with SW. I love that first film (I hate calling it episode IV) and, like one of the posters said before, I like it with no Jabba, no silly flying CGI aliens and Han shot first. I'm a little irritated at GL for never re-releasing that original film, which is gathering dust in some hidden away archive never to see the light of day again. Such nonsense.

Prequels were a disappointment to me, never read a book, a comic, played a game or watched any series... There is a lot out there and I'm sure I'm missing out on some good stuff... TFA is a brilliant, brilliant film. It has the right tone, truly engaging characters, the perfect SW esthetic. I have an incredible amount of respect for JJ Abrams and his work, his sensitivity, his friendliness. TLJ is a rough-around-the-edges movie but it is courageous and has something special. Great cinematography, amazing performances. Not mad about Broom Boy either, although I get his significance in the message about the future, Luke's legend, the republic as symbol of the downtrodden. Agree with poster who mentioned that we don't need to be reminded the force is for everyone. The Jedi chastity thingy makes it obvious. Rose Tico is my pet hate in TLJ. Very pleasant actress, terrible character. DJ and Canto Bight, same. I missed Maz too in TLJ. Maz needs to come back in episode IX. What a lady!

To be fair, I don't remember Zygerria that well.

But I kinda hated the Clovis conspiracy. To me, Clone Wars works best when we're on the frontlines, as opposed to the machinations of the Senate. The Embo chase was pretty cool, though.
