    I am excited for this film. But there is always a possibility that JJ Abrams and crew can completely mess this up.
    What if this is the phantom menace all over again. Can you handle the disappointment?

    If you're already worried about it messing up then you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

    It can only be better than TPM, just relax @Jar Jar Christensen and enjoy the movie for what it will be instead of worring dude.

    The success of the film relies on four things in my opinion:

    1. Believability of the special/practical effects.
    2. The acting.
    3. Action/editing
    4. The plot.

    1, 2 and 3 are some of JJ's strong points as a director, so i'm pretty optimistic.

    That would suck. I doubt it though. I'm really excited not just for this movie but for the ogs that have been with this since the 70s. The thought of what this movie means to some people makes me happier than u know what

    I think this film is bulletproof in terms of not sucking...

    There have been some spoilers release that make me feel this film could be underwhelming, but JJ is such a strong director, Kasdan is such a strong writer, and Kennedy is such a strong producer.... given that trio, with John William's music, and the professed direction they've taken (practical effects, emmulating the OT, family centric, character centric), I feel it's hard for them to bring this to PT level shitty.

    And at the end of the day, I'm banking on the fact that there's a lot about the films we don't know yet either.... so here's to hoping.

    I think there are levels of 'suck' when you're talking about a sequel or prequel from any successful movie franchise. Now everyone's opinion is different so there is no right or wrong.

    As bad as the PT movies are, they don't suck to the point where I can never watch them. They were highly disappointing but still have some good moments.

    Now movies that truly suck IMO are one's that I never want to see again nor have I ever revisited. Superman 3 & 4, Rocky 5, Jaws 3-D & Jaws: The Revenge. These are movies that I have not watched since I first saw them and have no redeeming moments in any part of the movie.

    TFA may disappoint like the PT did, but judging by the trailer there will be some great moments that won't ever lead to the level of suckage.

    In short, the OT were great movies, the PT were disappointments with some great moments, what will the ST be more like?

    As abrasive as the question might be to some readers, It's a question that most SW fans have asked....because it's happened. I'm personally very excited for TFA and the following movies (all of them) but even I have asked those questions, but as I've said elsewhere, I think we'll be fine, and it (they) will be great.

    That matter aside, I'm very much looking forward to TFA. A big reason is that it's an original story for a new trilogy; its embarking on new territory and I'd like to see the direction that the Star Wars saga is taken to now that the Anakin/Luke Skywalker story has been told.
