SPECULATION What if we get another Hyaden Christensen situation?

The problem with the Anakin character starting in Episode 2 is he was never likeable from that first argument with Obiwan in front of Padme, so I honestly never cared for him by the end of Episode 3 when tragedy hits.

Padme was another character that I didn't care for much starting with Episode 2 as it seems Lucas rebooted their arcs after Episode 1.

If I don't care for Rey, Finn or Poe then this Trilogy is doomed the same way the PT was. Characters that resonate with me are the main reason I watch a good movie or TV show as in many ways they're more important to the plot.

 

I’m sorry, but I can’t believe people are defending Hayden Christensen’s acting! Whether or not the writing was bad (and boy did it stink) the dude still can’t act. Surely someone like DiCaprio or Ryan Gosling could’ve delivered those lines better.

don't worry, Carrie Fisher is smart.

 

I agree that Fisher is a lightning rod in real life interviews as she is the person everyone wants to party with.

But she is actually the best actor out of the Big 3 in terms of pure acting. She is not a leading lady, but she always shines in secondary roles. She comes from an acting family from her famous parents so she is a professional when she's on the set, but she's a hot mess in her personal life!

That thread was in response to an official rumor. This thread and many others about Boyega are very rude And hurtful based on nothing. They say he looks like a poor actor because he is breathing heavily in the 5 seconds we see of him. They then take these 5 seconds and extrapolate how he will ruin the movie and that he should never have been cast, and will be worse than Jar Jar. They do this because they have some innate racism. Like it or not everybody has a little racism or sexism or prejudice built in. But they don't need to vocalize it on these forums.

Of course he could have been authoritative and still fell. Pride being the easiest flaw to accomplish this. He could have thought since he was powerful, able to win battles, the best star pilot And the chosen one, that he knew better than the jedi council. I've read more of your posts and it was definitely in the way you wrote it. And why didn't you say any of the other actors? If this thread were about us not wanting to see the future movies based on a single actors abilities the why did you single out John Boyega and not just make a general statement? And don't say based on the teasers and the 5 seconds you see of Boyega because that is ludicrous. And he is critically acclaimed in his other movies. Logically you should only be worried about the least experienced actress (ridley) or somebody who may have lost their touch (fisher). What basis did you single out Boyega? Come up with something logical that doesn't sound racist.

Oh and I don't mind being blocked by a racist child. Makes my life more pleasant.

And I shower daily and use Fulton and Roark solid Cologne so I think I smell nice. I do think it's kinda creepy that you took your time to find me and Jason Ward to smell us without consent

 

Am sorry I agree to disagree. You blast someone for asking a question yet defend someone for asking a question? People are allowed to questions are they not? Questions can be asked whether we like them or disagree. Silencing people just because you don't like the question is blocking a democratic right. Also you don't know the ethnicity of the poster, you can only guess. Am sorry I know you disagree but it does sound like a double standard. We can't have dictators. This is not directed at you but I also see a lot of questioning and its always between Daisy and John, why? Its annoying and really strange. Someone said this about Finn, why don't they say about Rey (visa / versa)? What the hell do you want, discriminate equality. If you going to say something bad about one person it has also has to be equalised? Bloody stupid, you ignore it. This imaginary dividing line has got to stop. I'm not worried about Boyega. He's got a good script (alledgedly), a director that's hungry for the motivations behind the mask, and some of the best set and costume designers in the industry.

JJ, for the faults his films like Star Trek had, helped develop characters that played well off each other and had some emotional resonance.

 

Give an up and coming actor a good script and they tend to shine. Really excited to see Boyega, Ridley, and even Felicity Jones in their lead roles.

 

The cast is good. I'm pretty sure some of you just want something to complain about, and have decided to pick Boyega.

 

Rey seems to be the polar opposite of Luke. Hidden away, but forced to fend for herself and deal with the harsh realities of life (whereas Luke was shielded from them). So while he is very excited by the prospect of adventure, her first reaction is to be resentful and feel betrayed by [Han? Leia? Luke?]. Should make for a very good character arc.
