SPECULATION What must The Rise of Skywalker do for you? [POLL AND DISCUSSION]

First of all it must have a great and intriguing story. Hopefully JJ focus on that what's already there and is not trying recon the last movie. This is Rey's, Kylo's, Finn's, Poe's story. Work with them!

Having some callbacks to previous movies (locations, characters etc) would be nice as long as it is done correctly and not for the sake of nostalgia.

 

I'm hesitant on relaying on nostalgia. Like I don't want the training ball moment from TFA where Finn holds the ball for a split second. I just want a daring story something different as a ending.

 

Personally, I can't answer this 'cause the thread title & poll title doesn't mach and I'm not sure what I would be polling for.

There is nothing in the list of choices that ROS must do for me to be satisfied. Conversely, I would want to see all of the options, please? Or to put it differently, there's nothing there that I would dislike to see as long as the high quality of writing, acting, and immersion is continued into the final film. Can't wait!

 

I've picked "something new".

But I know that "something new" its very hard to be in the movie.

RJ gave us "something new" in TLJ and a lot of fans hated. Force projection, forceghost lightening, the death of the big boss in the second act, etc....

So, I just think if JJ deliver us a great movie as TFA I'll be happy.

 

I just want Luke to be Luke and alive.

 

I think you will be disappointed. Luke isn't going to be alive.

As for what I want, like @Angelman all of the above. I just want a good story with interesting characters. I'd love some call backs, and I'd love for the ST to tie into the OT and the PT. If they are bringing Palpatine back, and it appears they are, I assume they are going to say he's been the big bad guy all along? I'd also like them to tie the ST into the Aftermath trilogy in some way. If they do that then I'm going to probably be pretty happy with the ending.

 

I want to see a story that is original that uses the new characters to their full potential. I'm excited to see Rey, Poe, and Finn together. I am also totally cool with Palpatine coming back in some way shape or form - I think this will serve as the major call back to tie it all together. Finally I would love to see Kylo's character really fleshed out showing his conflict and ultimate resolution, be it either for good or to his demise. I am positive JJ will pepper the film with nostalgia and easter eggs and hopefully those wont feel like they are hitting us over the head.

 

I just want Snoke to be Darth Plagueis and alive.



Only REAL difference, is, I've been saying THIS for 3 films.

 

I want nothing specifically. Just give me another exciting film with good story. I have theories and like theories, but will not let that define the film for me.

 

At first, the Rise of Skywalker title was referring to Anakin Skywalker, but I'm pretty sure I am wrong in that presumption. I would like a scene with an Anakin Skywalker Force Ghost talking to Kylo Ren. But I can guarantee that won't happen in this film, we will most likely get a Darth Vader Flashback or hologram. I think anything prequel related will be relegated to a small mention, but nothing is visually shown on screen. I now mostly think "Skywalker" in the title refers to their legacy. I don't think any physical Skywalker will Rise (other than possibly Ben Solo breaking away from his Kylo Ren persona). Luke will mentor Rey as a Force Ghost, similar to Obi-Wan in the OT trilogy. I don't believe she is a Skywalker. The only live Skywalker left by blood, not by name, is General Leia and Kylo Ren. The most important thing that I want out of this film is the story to be good. I really have no expectations of what needs to be in the film for my enjoyment. Would I want Anakin Skywalker appearance? Sure. Do I need him in the film to make me satisfied? No. I just want the conclusion to this Skywalker saga to be unexpected and satisfying.

 

I want Star Wars to be most impressive, one last time.

 

It doesn't really matter to me whether I end up enjoying it or not. As far as I'm concerned, the entire Sequel Trilogy is a bust.

 

My ‘must’ is for JJ to give us a movie he would want to see and not what he thinks the fans would want to see.

 

What must ROS do for me?
It MUST address Anakin Skywalker. I am stunned neither VII or VIII has done it yet.
Star Wars as a whole is the journey of one man, Anakin, his rise, fall, and redemption. The ST as of now feels pegged on, as if filmmakers were under the impression Luke Skywalker was the chosen one. If this is the way Disney wants to go, so be it Jedi, just mention the prophecy and explain WHY Luke is the chosen one and not Anakin.

Here is a theory I have always subscribed to, and I have mentioned it several times on this forum:
It is totally possible Rey is a reincarnation of Anakin, or the “Chosen One” is a generational thing, similar to the Avatar is the “same” person in The Last Airbender. I believe it is possible that in the final episode, Rey/Anakin takes down the reincarnation/reborn/cloned/horcrux-version of Sheev Palpatine. This will bring tons of interest to Rey (who is and isn’t a Skywalker simultaneously!) and Disney can still keep Anakin as the chosen one, without having to show Hayden Christionson.

 

I want an original story, that ties (as best as it can) to the previous eight. Centre it around Rey and Kylo. Give us something new and relevant that answers questions to Rey and Kylo's story arcs, and how they are tied to the force, Vader, Palpatine and the Big Three. A battle as well as some action in the world between worlds (netherworld).

I hope they get some more solid rumours out soon. The whole "Rise of Skywalker" title reveal and teaser hasn't really been enough to keep interested fans going. Need more to speculate about as I find conversation is dying out.

 

One thing i really don't want is a new Force power. Like shooting flames from fingertips.

We're encroaching on Xmen levels of powers now.

 

Please enlighten us on how it is a bust. Don't say,"Cause I don't like Rian Johnson." Because it's far from a bust. If you don't like the trilogy that's fine and ok. You don't have to.

 

As long as it's as good as the other two movies of the ST, I'll be a very happy chappy. The quality of this ST has been more than I could've hoped for. Some of the best SW moments have, for me, come from the past two movies, so hopefully one or two more from this one would be the icing on the cake.

I like the theories and speculation, but cannot wait to see what Terrio/Abrams do.

 

Whatever the premise of the film is, just execute it well. Even a subpar premise can be carried with good execution, and a great premise can be undercut by poor execution.
