This show has been flat-out awesome - best TV of the year. With knowledge of the original book this story has unfolded brilliantly... linking to the past without being beholden to it, taking cues and opportunities from the origin tale and using them to broaden the mythology.

I can barely wait for the finale next week, although I also don't want it to end! So many characters and threads to pull together.

From what I understood, Lindelof has said it's a one-shot deal and there are no plans for another season though :(

Is that any good? Albeit not perfect I think the 1986 movie is pretty good.

I’m enjoying it & being a tv show it much more of a slow burn ( which is a good thing ) then the film. Now I haven’t read the book or seen the film in ages so I can’t comment on how faithful to the source material it is but I’m certainly enjoying it.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the War of the Worlds now the cast is excellent but maybe because I absolutely love the Musical by Jeff Wayne & had such high hopes for this show but it just didn’t live up to my hopes :(

Not gonna lie, I spent 2 days after episode 7 asking myself questions with Life on Mars in my head. I haven't been that much in a show since the Leftovers.

It raises the bar of TV shows so high.

    Of course, The Mandalorian.

Other than that, lately I was avoiding long shows because I cannot commit, I have started and abandoned several good shows because of it. Which is why I am currently addicted to this gem:

    dvJ3Kc.jpg

The show is called JOY OF LIFE and it's basically court intrigues/politics (Star Wars could learn from this) with a sprinkle of martial arts. The first season is currently airing and it will have 46 episodes. Already, five seasons were planed. That thing I said that I am avoiding long series? Forget it. You know you are addicted to the show when side character dies and you cry your eyes out. I binged 12 episodes in day and a half.

If anyone is interested, the show is available online with English subtitles HERE. Two new episodes every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The first episode is on a slower side, then things progress at good pace. Good acting, costumes and sets, fantastic music, naturalistic make up. Cute and funny, eye candy for both girls and boys, will rip your heart out at some point or another. If the quality remains the same, I would watch 10 seasons.

Just getting into The Whitcher I am up to Eps 4 & it's really good although that episode threw me a bit as stuff i assumed about the show are wrong which led to a few hang on what are they doing there moments but once i got past that it just makes me even more curious to see where they go with the rest of the season

I'm at the exact same place :D Am about to start ep.5. So far it's been fun and interesting. I've been thoroughly confused a few times and there's a LOT of characters-standing-around-explaining-things scenes, but I am pleasantly surprised that this is not just a long action fest and that the acting and character work is pretty good. All in all, I like it (although I suspect I won't feel the need to rewatch it).

This was really good. The best fresh take on the Dickens tale since Scrooged, in my opinion.

Guy Pearce as Scrooge. Andy Serkis as Christmas Past. Stephen Graham as Marley.

I continued Chinese Joy of Life (look a couple of posts up) who two thirds into its run turned to be a cross of fantasy/wuxia and sci-fi, a rare thing in Chinese drama, but awesome nonetheless. I love the show even more now.

I dropped The Witcher after the first episode, but @FN-3263827 convinced me to continue and I did. After finishing it, these are my thoughts: great world building, doesn't hold viewers hands, good and likable actors, weak beginning (the first episode is really the worst) and ending, awesome sauce is in the middle, promises greater things in Season 2. This is the first time I really liked Henry Cavill. I was sooooo disappointed to realize that the actress who plays Yennefer doesn't have violet eyes. Those are some great contacts. Also, music is great - almost every song.

Currently binge watching the Expanse (gave up a couple of years ago after a couple of episodes) and i'm really enjoying it. i'm nearing the end of S2.

everyone in my office is raving about BBC's 3 part version of Dracula. going to watch that next methinks.

I'm watching The Clone Wars. I've never seen the full series and I'm trying to finish it before the new season next month.

Yes, it's amazing. It really develops the clones and the conflict, and also introduces new characters like Savage Opress that really work. I agree.

I've just started The Clone Wars, currently watching in chronological order! Definitely won't make it through all 600 episodes before watching Solo. Got preoccupied and never watched the movie, but now I will.

I watched and really liked the Witcher a couple weeks ago. Then watched Fleabag season 1 and 2 and found it pretty funny. Right now, I'm enjoying a binge of You're the worst over the last week or so, got a ways to go to finish that one but so far I find it hilarious.

Finished Dracula yesterday & while personally I enjoy it. I think it’s going to be one of those that you will really like it or you will find the whole thing totally over the top & ridiculous.
Also it’s co produced with Netflix so outside the U.K. that where you will find it if you want to.
