What stories should be turned into anthology films?

In my opinion they should come up with something from the scratch. The problem with nowadays audience is the demand for literacy and the need to have everything explained and the reaction of studios to follow this demand. Star Wars is such an amazing sandbox, the stories you could come up with are so vast, I don't think Disney knows what they acquired there. Instead of having something in the style of Kurosawa's Yojimbo we get Rouge One and a Han Solo Spin-off which I find highly disappointing.

 

I'd like to see a story about Rogue Squadron set after Hoth while Luke is away training.

 

I don't think they'd waste the money and NOT have Luke Sjywalker .

 

A KOTOR movie!
Obi Wan
Something with big epic battles between Jedi and Sith
A standalone movie of Rey after IX when she is a badass Jedi.

 

But the problem would rise from whether or not fans would accept a re-casting of a new actor to play Luke. I'm not a fan of re-casting. I think the story could be told without the big characters.

 

Yeah they shouldn't re-cast him but hey most likely will if they ever decide to do any prequels like with Harrison ford .

 

An Old Republic/Great Hyperspace War film would be great. I'd be excited too if the rumored Boba Fett film contained a lot Mandalorian history and multiple bounty hunters battling it out for one particular score.

 

I don't think we'd see something THAT badass ...

 

How about a movie on the history of the Falcon? It could be a compilation of short stories from each owner from build to Solo.

 

Seeing how often and forcefully fans are trying to shoehorn Darth Plagueis into all the new episodes, it seems like making a stand alone about him is a no-brainer. They could show the rise of Palpatine, explore whether or not Plagueis really did create Anakin (as was once the original intent of GL), and show his death to be shrouded in mystery so people could continue the conspiracy theory arc that Plagueis isn't actually dead. Easy $.

 

I think after the ST, Star Wars Anthologies wont be as thrilling cause its not really apart of the saga. you understand right? TCW and Rebels follow the path to enclude main characters from the movie, majority TCW fall within the PT and Rebels the only show that stands alone between that time frame.Which also includes a Jedi(Kanan), TCW Ahsoka, Vader, Tarkin, Lando, Maul, Leia, Yoda from the saga. So that kinda gives it backing. WIth R1, its prolly the first SW story that wont involved a Jedi/Lightsaber. Vader might have a role but its going to be like Vader in ANH. Not much action. Who will they make force sensitve in R1 that can outright match Darth Vader. R1 is a story that we already know the outcome. No "CHARACTERS" are distinguished in the OT from R1. Leia and Vader wouldnt really factor in awhole lot cause they are the main characters in the OT and SW Saga. Its like going to a restaurant and ordering a meal and then you finish your meal. all that matters is you get your meal and be satisfied. the staff doesnt come back out and tell you how it was prepared and cooked and who and how served. You pretty much dont care for that. Thats what I think about R1 and anthologies. George started it and hand selected JJ to finished the the saga. TCW and Rebels fall into GL timeline with the other stories being someting he didnt write. eventho its canon its still going to be hard to watch an anthology thats a sidestory. I'm still going to watch R1 cause is just in me as a SW fan. I guess will see what happens.

A Mon Monthma short film or featured film would be so interesting! I feel she is a untapped character and I am so excited we get to see her in Rogue One!

 

Any Old Republic movie... you have countless jedi and Sith.. Star wars NEEDS to get off the Skywalker / Solo story... its now been done to death

 

There is just Marcel tv show about supergero powerless beings who clean up after the messes in places like NYC & Sokovia so a movie/tv show anthology series about aliens and humans alike that are forced to rebuild at ground-zero battles during the clone wars/clean up the messes that Jedi the leave behind...it would be super interesting.

 

Something related with the Old Republic. And please make Lost Stars a movie! Though it would be interesting how to make a good screenplay reducing or even taking off screen time for OT characters we know to appear (Tarkin, Mon Mothma, Admiral Piett, Princess Leia, Wedge, etc). I reckon it is a great story the way it is narrated in the book and it could be nice to see it onscreen.

There are endless possibilities.

Some of the best ideas may be films centered around Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Lando, Yoda, Palpatine, Death Star II plans, the Old Republic, Jedi versus Sith, the First Jedi and Jedi Temple, the beginning of the Sith, characters and events during the Clone Wars, Jango Fett, Count Dooku, the New Republic and everything else post-Endor... and those are just off the top of my head, and common suggestions.

 

I might actually just watch anthology films after Episode 9. I think they should take a long break with Episodic films after 9.
