The opening scene in A New Hope. The size of the Star Destroyer chasing down the blockade runner. The damn thing just kept growing and growing. Finally the tail end came into view, but wait! That's not the tail, that's just the loading bay! There's even more of this thing passing overhead!

We knew, without a single word of dialog being spoken, that the blockade runner was out-flanked, out-gunned, and severely out-sized. All the backstory we needed to know about the war between the Rebellion and the Empire was summed up by that Star Destroyer literally swallowing the blockade runner.

That was my favorite opening scene in movie history, and remained my favorite until Heath Ledger's bank robbery in Batman: The Dark Knight.

When look stares off into the horizon at the beginning of ANH, the small part of the universe he's inhabited all his life is about to get a whole lot bigger.

Almost every time I re-watch any Star Wars films I discover things I'd missed in previous viewings. That's why I enjoy them so much.
One of my favorites is in ROTJ when Jabba and his thugs surprise Leia and Han from behind the curtain ("I know that laugh.") Behind Jabba you can see Ree-Yees with his hand over C-3PO's mouth.

Another little moment I like is the angry stare Admiral Ozzel gives Captain Piett after Vader tells them to set a course for Hoth.

My favorite scene has always been when Yoda did the"impossible" and lifted Luke's X-Wing out of the swamp on Dagobah. It gives me chills every time I see it, in part because of that particular bit of score John Williams put in that scene. It was like the musical equivalent of being in absolute awe.

During Empire Strikes Back when the Falcon's hyperdrive goes down Han punches the upper left-hand corner of the cockpit doorway and it starts back up again. If you notice, there is a dent there from all the years of repeating that process. If that's not a neat, 'lived-in universe' detail I don't know what is!

That scene is so endearing right before when Luke says "You ask for the impossible". You can hear his voice full with emotion.

When I think "Star Wars", the entirety of it (for me) is summed up in the first 30 minutes of ANH, specifically the scenes when the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO escape from the Tantive IV, land on Tatooine, are captured by Jawas and come into the ownership of the Lars-Skywalker family on Tatooine.

Everything else (for me) in ANH is secondary and a bonus. In my opinion, ANH is all about the droids journey and the whole story is seen from their perspective. If Star Wars did not have R2 and 3PO in it, I very much doubt I would be a fan of Star Wars.

I was very much annoyed and disappointed by The Force Awakens as it relegated C-3PO and R2-D2 to very minor and underused characters.
    ;)

The part from when Leia, Chewie , C3P0, R2D2 & Lando are escaping Cloud city is just awesome till the moment they escape.

    - The music during that scene.
    - Watching the sadness in leias eyes when she sees Slave one fly off.
    - When Chewie gets angry with Lando about turning around.
    - When it all looks like they will be captured they finally hyperspace out of there.

The Ewok party at the end of TROTJ was special because it was the first sense of peace in the galaxy in a long time.

Vader choking Motti, who might just be the dumbest Imperial officer to ever exist in a galaxy far far away. He doesn't know anything about Vader or the force, and he lacks the common sense to keep his mouth shut. I don't know how he made admiral. I don't care what his official backstory is, I smell nepotism lol

If we are talking small details: the artwork done for Bespin. It's just gorgeous.

If we are talking little moments: R2 emerging from the fog with blaster shots barely missing him after he opened the platform doors to allow Leia, Lando, Chewie and C3P0 to escape

Mine is and will forever be the Wampa cave on Hoth when Luke was hanging upside down and we see him use the force for the first time to pick up his light saber to free himself just in time before the Wampa gets to him. Being 5 at the time it scared the bezezuz out of me, but it got me hooked.
I used to look up at the moon and was convinced that it was Hoth because it looked like an ice planet. Needless to say that Star Wars enhanced my imagination skills!
