When are you watching TLJ and who are you watching it with?

What the hell? Where do you live where you can't catch a 2D showing? I don't think I've ever seen a theater, except for IMAX, where if a theater is offering it in 3D, then they weren't also showing it in 2D. Hell, in most places 2D showings still outnumber the 3D showings 2-1.

 

I live in France, and they have a solid commercial plan : at least the first 2 weeks are 3D only, no 2D available (at least, in the city I live in).
Last year (well... this year 2017) for Rogue One I had to wait till january.

They are very aware to please us, here down they call that "l'exception française"

 

Me and my brother have been huge Star Wars fans since we were introduced to it, when we were like 4 -5 years old. Initially we where not allowed to see the films, because our parents considered them to be to violent for our age at that time. But then we had a babysitter who happened to be a huge star wars buff, and she secretly brought the whole original trilogy for us to watch with her, and we got hooked big time haha! Then a couple of years later, we went to see out first Star Wars movie in the cinema (The Phantom Menace) with our dad on August 19th 1999, which was the premiere day in Sweden.

Since then we have always seen all the new Star Wars-films on the first screening of the premiere day, so this year will be no different - first screening on december 13th in IMAX

 

Thursday, 14th. 2D @ 2PM. I'm going alone, but traditionally we'll go together with my dad, brother and my nephews on the "second day" of Christmas, Dec. 26th (probably 3D since it's more attractive for kids). First time it'll be with subtitles, second one with dubbing (because of nephews).

I'm slightly shocked that it's going to be released one day later in US. I mean - it's the birthplace of Star Wars and you have to wait additional day than Europe? It sucks.

 

technically it's released here on the 14th as well. why they say December 15th is a complete mystery to me ~ hahahaha

I'm not sure if I'm going on Thursday or Friday. But if I'm going on Friday hopefully it's a morning show and I may skip school xD. I haven't a missed a day of school this year in preparation for TLJ. Then hopefully there will be subsequent viewings within the week it's released.

 

Going to a noon show on opening day with my cousin... she and I have seen every Star Wars movie together since 1977

I've wondered that too. I know originally they did the "midnight" showings where it was technically "opening" day. But know, they do "early" showings the day before.... which is technically opening the day before advertised. lol.... But I guess the day before is optional where theaters are contracted to show it on the opening day.

 

yeah! it used to be midnight. now it's 6 o'clock ~ hahahahaha
oh well, i ain't complaining! : D

 

Im not either. I never really made it to a midnight showing! lol .... There theater I went to for TFA had it starting every 45 mins in their multiplex the day before! lol

 

The one I went to for TFA opening night was playing it in 8 out of their 14 screens. Needless to say, catching that second back to back viewing wasn't hard at all.

 

Probably the Tuesday after it comes out, so I'll be staying away from most threads starting next Friday. Lol.

 

I bet it wasn't. This time they only have it in one theater, I think. Tickets didn't go on sale until the next day while I was at work. Needless to say, I couldn't get tickets until Sat night.

 

First time will be with the gf first thing in the morning on the 16th. Then another several times in the following week or two after haha.

 

First time Dec 13th with my friend, though we bought tickets separately so we won't be sitting side by side. I also have a ticket for the next day, this time all alone.

 

Wednesday 20:15 h central european time in Prague in the nearest multiplex, Dolby Atmos 2D with my 2 best friends. And then sunday evening in Imax with my wife..

 

Just picked up a few more tickets today for the 14/12/17 at 13:40pm & 15/12/17 at 14:10pm my time, a solo viewing for both for now.
