Where are the plot holes?

I agree, finding plot holes is subjective. I mentioned quick list of plot holes that I see simply within overal dissatissfaction of how film was assembled, in my eyes.

I find Luke's ascension in to Force a masterpiece move, inded I see. Great idea.Some scenes to, like a Dark cave on Ahch to, also, a multiple Rey's in a time-space continuum with different outcomes( very few understand this I believe, its great)...but the majority of other stuff in this film for me is subpar , and some parts are frankly bad.

Most importantly I can not enjoy this film in the way I enjoy other SW films(Including Phantom Menace!), thus the plot holes I see stick out even more in my eyes.

 

You don't like it because you have sour grapes and are covering up the fact that your Rey Solo theories made you look foolish.

 

I understand the desire of people to want this film to be one that is masterpiece.
Because, indeed we needed a masterpiece in this moment.
Film failed to meet expectations in the eyes of many that is to obvious.

 

In hindsight, ReyAnybody really made no sense.

Yes. I don't really see any along what you think are plot holes.

For me I thought Canto Bight space Vegas was terrible.

absolutely agree.

how we all feel about Star Wars goes way above being just passionate, and the latest film has challenged us all.

hate the movie? that's fine.. vent it.. scream from the rooftops why you're unhappy.
love the movie? again... shout out loud why you love it and how much you do.

i just wish that there weren't so many people trying to convince others that they should feel the same way as them about the movie. wrong on so many levels.. just wrong. posts criticizing others for the way they feel about a movie? shameful.


plot holes? episode 8 has changed so much.. how we view the Jedi, how we think of Luke, how we think of Ben, the force. I need to see episode 9 before i can begin to look for plot holes. who knows what's gonna happen next lol

the Maz Kanata scene winds me up every time i see it. She made a grand speech in TFA about standing up to the First Order... "We all need to fight!". 5 minutes later the resistance are fighting for their lives and Maz is messing with some crappy union dispute. not a plot hole... but it peed me off lol.

So yes, where are we up to ?.

Hyper drive tracking tech that the FO have decided to install only on ONE ship. Then they carelessly blew it up. Well a ship flew into it because it was not shielded. Is that believable ? So all this new tech and know-how is lost ?

The FO are a bit rubbish to be fair. If I was running the show I would have that tech on all my ships. If I were the boss like Kylo, I would certainly have it installed on my ship.

But then again, we learnt in the film that the people who make the ships for the FO also make the ships for the rebels. So why don't the rebels have this tech ?

This is not classic Sci fi story telling is it ?


BTW, can you explain to me the Luke Skywalker fish problem that I highlighted earlier in the thread. Hyper drive tech is one thing but scaling a vertical cliff face with a large fish is something more difficult to explain away.

 

Excellent post! I always try to be constructive when I talk about TLJ. I liked it, but it had its flaws like any other movie.

That problem is on both sides. This thread has kinda devolved into tug of war "no one is really right" battle.

I think the joke with Maz was that her "Union dispute" was actually a tense battle. She dis have a jet pack! But still, she doesn't ask after Rey, who took the lightsabre she had, and she's really downplayed.

See? Constructive agreement and disagreement.

i truly hope so. i understand her role in TFA from a story telling perspective.. but i want to see more of her, not less. She has to be standing side-by-side with the resistance in episode 9... or she is a bit of a cowardly hypocrite in my mind.

she is 'jokey' enough to have played down exactly what was going on when we saw her.. so also feasible that she was already fighting the FO.

dunno... just feels like RJ squeezed her in to the movie coz he had to or something. I wanted more of her.

i asked myself how i would do it... simple.. fish down pants=hands free to climb/swing

 

That fish weighs a good 15 kilos. It was huge. His pants would fall down. Does Luke wear pants ?

We have all seen the pictures of craggy island, and there is no way Luke could scale those cliffs with a 15 kilo fish stuffed down his pants. He could certainly not do it holding it with one hand and climbing a rope ladder.

So how did Luke get the fish to the top of the cliff ?

Try again.

 

Rey dropped down a big bucket first. Pulled the fish up. Then Luke climbed up.

 

Simple. Vault back over exactly how he came, then pull the pole up.

Everyone identifying "plot holes" seriously misunderstands what that phrase means.

 

So how did he do it when Ray was not there ?

 

Rey's arrival coincided with Luke getting his biggest catch ever. Usually he just put the fish in his pocket.
