Hello. I trust you are all well. ;)

I'm admittedly tired (it's 4.30am here and I'm at work), but while catching up on the boards something occurred to me.

There is something very SW that, to my (tired) knowledge TFA isn't doing!!

Where is the Big-Name Brit, the established artiste, the gravitas? Guinness in the OT, with Cushing and Fraser in Ep IV and Sheard in Ep V. Ep I had Blessed and Stamp; Ep II & III had Lee. The only that doesn't have a notable Brit film/TV actor(ess) is VI. (Interested to see if anyone can come up with more.)

So, who is the notable Brit in TFA? Who's gonna make the UK audience sit up and say, Wow! What the hell are they doing in this -- cool! I'm talking about established vets, here -- people who are currently on something of a par with Cushing, Lee and Guinness.

    Is it Warwick Davis? [joke]

Who would you like to see?

    MTFBWY....

Max Von Sydow is the closest thing, he's from Sweden but may act with a predominantly British accent. I would actually put him above Christopher Lee in terms of acting talent.

There's also rumor of a Gary Oldman cameo, not sure if that would count.

I was thinking about that, but I think at least half the cast IS British, so that might make up for not having a big name in it.

It's not that I need a Brit, it's just that the other movies have had an established Brit. In some cases, they've had a Brit legend or two.

Sweden is not the UK and an accent won't change that; I'm talking about vets from British film and TV.

I guess Malcolm McDowell is too obvious an option; how about Tom Courtenay or Julie Kristie (now she's over her death hoax)?....

I just realised that the new Star Wars "Special Guest Star" Max Von Sydow appeared in a film directed by our beloved ESB director Irvin Kershner: Never Say Never Again

There's been talk of Daniel Craig having a cameo as a stormtrooper. Whether it happens or not we'll just have to wait and see. But you don't get bigger in the UK than Bond.. ...James Bond! ;)

As has been mentioned, much of the cast is British.

I think it's more about that "name which is MVS.

But I'm a little disappointed that Our good old Palpatine wasn't named (considering he's in 5 of 6 films.

Boyega, Ridley, Serkis, Daniels, Mayhew, Warwick, Kenny Baker, etc. are all British. Carrie Fisher went to school in London and Leia was British thru most of A New Hope. I think we've get plenty of brits to keep you covered here!

Max von Sydow is the gravitas of this film

what the heck are you talking about? :p lol Leia is decidedly not British through any of the movies! you could maaaybe get away with Trans-Atlantic, but even that is pushing it. i just watched the whole OT over the weekend and i certainly didn't think to myself, 'oh crap, Leia's British!' let alone, 'oh crap, Leia's British and then not British!!'

    sorry, i'm finished... (epic fail)

i've got to agree on Serkis being a pretty good candidate as the obligatory strong British actor. as for Daniel Craig, i dunno... i'd think of Bond instead of Star Wars... i don't really want to see him in TFA, to be honest. i like him, but it might be weird.

Aside from Boyega, Ridley, Serkis, Daniels, Mayhew, Baker, and Davis...
Christina Chong is British, Miltos Yerolemou is Greek but lives in London, Maisie Richardson-Sellers is British, Amybeth Hargreaves is British, and Leanne Best is British.
