Where's General Hux?

If I remember correctly, all of the marketing materials, trailers, toys, etc. come from the first 3rd of the movie. There are others who have not been very prominent in the marketing like Phasma, Snoke, Poe, Leia, C3PO, R2. Just brief mentions so far.

I think he will either be more prevalent in the 2nd and 3rd Acts.

 

I think it would be cool if Hux was like a hold out similar to Lukr and Snoke, even though we've already at least seen Hux and briefly heard about him...he might be one of the biggest surprises of the movie.

I meant with everything that has been released. He has been included in some things.

 

I think the obvious answer is that he's just not that important.

I mean, he's the guy who's there to represent the idea of the empire/first order/whatever as a bureaucracy for the audience, fulfilling the same story role as the council of imperial idiots from ANH. Kylo Ren and Snoke are obviously more central to the plot of the movies, and Phasma gets a bigger focus because she has an awesome, toy-able design.

 

I'm glad i'm not the only person who actually cares about General Hux.

He looks to be similar to Grand Moff Tarkin. Right down to dying in the first movie.

But I cross my fingers that he still lives.

 

General Hux has secluded himself on Starkiller base, deep in a guarded and heavily shielded bunker, to avoid all spoilers before 18 December.

(Being evil doesn't mean he hates surprises!)

I really don't think so. It was cut together to sound like it was but it is a fairly noticeable change to native English speakers between the beginning, middle and end of those lines. The beginning and end were DR, the middle was GC. I don't think there was any hidden meaning in that, just convenience for the company cutting the trailer for the Japanese market and them wanting to push a specific idea in the trailer.

EDIT: Just listened to it again and it does sound more like GC than I thought. Anyone know definitively??? It would be an interesting line for Phasma.

 

I got a feeling that Hux is going to be the new Admiral Piett. Our standard issue Imperial Officer, or First Order officer in this case. I hope he makes it through the movie, but if someone's going to go, I imagine it'll be him.

 

Pretty much this. I (as of now) have just been thinking of Hux as Tarkin 2.0. He's the primary representative of the First Order, who I'm guessing probably isn't in the movie a whole lot anyways.

 

I am hoping Hux's role is more like Tarkin's role.

 

Furthermore, as a "native English speaker" who does a lot of sound editing, there is definitely a noticeable audio cut... between three lines of Daisy Ridley dialogue.
Even if you disagree, Christie has a "stormtrooper" digital effect added to her voice in TFA, we've heard it. So you have to ask yourself, is the solitary scavenger likely to deliver the line "I know all about waiting" with an air of melancholy resignation, or is Captain Phasma going to whip off the helmet at some point and get all wistful...?

 

More and more give in to the truth.

And yes Phasma might be more multi-dimensional than we think so perhaps GC does in fact at some point take off the helmet and deliver the line.

 

I, too, am a native speaker who does a lot of sound editing. Should be doing some right now, in fact, but had to respond. To my ear those are three Rey quotes that have been hacked and spliced together out of context (and quite glaringly, if I may say so). It sounds nothing like the Phasma we've heard already in the toy.

 

Not any more... clearly.

If people still believe we've only seen things from the first 3rd of the movie, then they are gravely mistaken.
