I know this movie probably seems like a misstep to some people. And to a certain degree, I do understand people's skepticism.

However, this particular thread is dedicated to casting. I believe there is another general thread on the Han Solo anthology film that would be better suited to discuss whether the film is a good idea or not.

I know that Chris Pratt or Bradley Cooper was mentioned. I wouldn't mind seeing either of them play Han Solo

Bradley Cooper kind of looks like Han Solo, but the voice is also incredibly iconic and Bradley Cooper just doesn't have it. A good point by one of the guys from the Jedi Council show on youtube, John Campea, is that if they were to recast Han, the actor would need to do his own thing since there's no besting Ford. I agree with this and I think Cooper can pull it off, simply due to somewhat looking like Harrison Ford and being a good actor.

^To add on to that, I've been looking at some articles about the announcement and saw Armie Hammer is one of the favorites. I could definitely see him appearance wise, but I'm unsure if he's the best from an acting sense.

I don't like the idea of a Han Solo movie but when i watched The Guest (2014) i thought this guy would be good for the part.

He looks young enough to play the part though.

I'm pretty sure this movie is not going to be A New Hope age Han so Cooper is too old.

I'd typically go for a relatively unknown actor. Although, I like the idea of Dan Stevens. Bradley Cooper I think is too well known now and that could be a distraction possibly.

True, it really depends on how the movie fits before the movie. Anything around 1-2 years before I could see it though.

This could also be a huge caveat. It makes somebody like Dan Stevens a lot more attractive for the part. But to me he just doesn't look the part enough.

I'd rather have someone that can act the part, i think he can show the younger Han that most likey would have more of criminal smuggler thief mindset.
I don't think of Han as much of a hero before A New Hope.

That's my thinking too. This is a Han you don't know if you can trust.

The problem is not finding someone who can play Han Solo like he was played in ANH its finding a yonger than Ford was at the time actor who can play a Han Solo who becomes the jaded cynic we see in ANH.

Cooper would be my first pick but he is too old at this point.

I agree that the portrayal of a younger Han may differ a little from the jaded cynic we see in ANH. But the actor will still need to be able to bring that classic Han Solo swagger, confidence, and charm to the character.

That's gonna be a tall order for any actor.

Cooper could do it but is too old. He could do a good Indy. Whoever is doing Han I think should be much yonger.

I only know Anthony Ingruber from that Han Solo impression he did years ago back in 2008 but apparently someone who knows someone made some calls because he plays a young Harrison Ford in "The Age of Adaline" that came out in April of this year

So maybe he -is- in talks to play young Han Solo? ;)

By the time the movie comes out Pratt will be 39, Cooper will be 43. I've seen some say "aaron Paul" but he is a balding old man as well.

I'd support this if the movie takes place roughly 5 years before ANH. Dude does a spot on impression and is an actor.

Why? Anthony Ingruber is 10 years younger then Harrison Ford was in Star Wars. He's a good age to tell a story with Solo still in the Imperial Academy training to be an officer/ resigning his commission and him starting on the road to smuggling.

Why would you set it in the already crowded Rebels/ Rogue One era?

I didn't do the math, I was approximating.

Ingruber would be 28 in 2018. Harrison was 35 in ANH. 7 years before ANH is close to "roughly five". It wouldn't have to be exact either. He could be 5 years different in either direction, maybe more without straining credulity.

Also, I didn't say the movie had to take place, or that I want it to take place 7 years BBY, rather I'd only support Ingruber as Han if he is roughly the right age. If the movie is 15 BBY, then Ingruber would be too old.
