Hey guys! So what roles do you guys think the new cast is going to be filling? Post who you think each character is portraying. EU characters are okay since LucasFilm story group is mining the EU for ideas so some names/characters may transfer. You don't have to do the returning actors if you don't want to seeing as their characters are already confirmed. If you want to discuss each character individually please take those discussions to the actors' respective thread.

We've already heard that Adam Driver is going to be the "villian". Is there any truth to the rumor of him being Han Solo and Leia's son who is seduced to the dark side?

What about Daisy Ridley? Is she the daughter of Han and Leia or a completely unrelated character? It seems like they weren't kidding when they said that the expanded universe would be an influence but not a direct translation.

The biggest mystery to me is John Boyega's character. He is supposedly the star of Ep. 7 and a rumored romantic interest for Daisy Ridley's character. I wonder if he'll be Luke's first Padawan? Or perhaps Daisy and him will both be trained by Luke. They've both been spotted on set with lightsaber props. And Daisy Ridley's character's concept art apparently has her with one in hand as well.

But how does he go from being a Stormtrooper to becoming a Padawan? If the rumors are true then he'll have quite the interesting character arc.

I'm a bit skeptical still since it seems like a lot of different things to be crammed into one movie. But since it has been said that his character arc will mirror Luke's from the original trilogy, then we probably won't see him really use his lightsaber until Episode VIII.

I'd like to hear your thoughts, please!

Two other big mysteries are Domnhall Gleeson and Andy Serkis' characters. Safe bet is that Andy Serkis is going to be in either heavy makeup or a mo-cap suit. I'm betting on mo-cap since he has been quite the pioneer in the field and JJ Abrams no-doubt recognizes this. This is probably half of the reason he chose him, other than being a fantastic actor.

As for Gleeson, him being Luke's son is sort of wishful thinking. I'd accept it, but I can't quite see how it would work. I like the idea of having characters outside of the Skywalker line as leads for this new trilogy. I almost feel like Domnhall is going to be an alien or a droid...

But anyways, let's talk more! Tell me what your theories are! It's fun to speculate even if it ends up being something completely different! I have full faith in JJ and the cast & crew from what I've both seen and heard.

Adam Driver: He's playing a bad guy, that's pretty much indisputable at this point (given that is one thing that has been consistently been reported throughout a variety of sources), but whether or not he's related to Han and Leia is up for debate. I believe that he could be a child that they had thought died previously (which could have split their marriage) but was raised by an antagonist - it would allow him to perfectly serve as the "Darth Vader" of the new trilogy. Of course, the nature of his relationship most likely wouldn't be revealed until the second movie, like in The Empire Strikes Back.

Daisy Ridley: She's playing the lead, no question (given her character's Skellig Michael scene with Luke). I imagine that she will be Han and Leia's daughter for sure - the resemblance to Padmé is uncanny. I'm almost completely certain that she and John Boyega will be the leads of the film based on how much of the news that has circulated the web has focused on them (the amount of coverage they get is comparable to Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill in regards to this movie). I've heard rumors that she'll be tempted by the Dark Side, but I don't think she'll completely turn - she's too adorable to go completely evil.

John Boyega: I don't think that he may be a "renegade Stormtrooper" as initial reports have suggested, and I don't really buy the idea that he could be Lando's kid based on the fact that three of the other four actors considered for the role were White. Nonetheless, I do see him serving as Daisy Ridley's best friend, and possibly a lover if they choose to take that course of action with the story (and I think they should). I could see him as being a sort of Biggs Darklighter-type character that develops Force Sensitivity later on in the story.

Oscar Isaac: He'll probably be a rogue. I really don't know what else to say, but I can see him as sort of being the Han Solo for a new generation. If Daisy Ridley doesn't end up with John Boyega, I could see Oscar Isaac tying the knot with her instead.

Domhhall Gleeson: Recent rumors have stated that he's not related to Luke. I strongly disbelieve those rumors based on the fact that he looks a lot like Mark Hamill did when he was younger. I would imagine that if Luke did have kids, however, their identities would be hidden both in-universe and to the audience up until the proper moment for a dramatic plot twist.

Andy Serkis: He will most likely play a motion-capture character. I was thinking that he would be neutral-good at first, but I'm leaning more towards the idea that he's playing an antagonist. He could very well be Darth Ruin for all I know.

Max Von Sydow: People are expecting him to play the role of Darth Ruin or something, but I think that more likely he'll be the new Emperor of the Imperial Remnant, based on the casting call that his character would be an old man with "strong opinions and tough demeanour". I'd imagine that this character would also be more noble and well-intentioned than Palpatine, based on the rumors that the franchise is going to discuss moral ambiguity to a greater degree.

Gwendoline Christie: I can see her fitting the mold of being either an Inspector Javert-type character (lawful, heroic individual opposed to the protagonist by circumstances) or a heroic law-enforcing figure. But I bet you, more than anything, she'll be swinging a sword of some sort around.

Lupita Nyong'o: I'm drawing a blank on her. She could be related to John Boyega's character, but I get the feeling she'll be important for something else. I don't think she'll be playing an antagonist, though, nor an alien.

Miltos Yerolemou: I can definitely see him as a Jedi Master, but whether he's limited to a cameo (possibly the flashback involving Ruin or whatever) or a supporting role in the New Jedi Order is yet to be seen. I don't think that he'll be too major to the story, given that he was cast pretty late into production.

The Young Blood (pretty much everyone else): I think the assorted cast of newcomers will either play Jedi or very, very athletic soldiers, based on the fact that a lot of them have experience with parkour.

It's happening my friend, be happy. I'm with you all the way, makes me all giddy.

Where the droids are is an interesting thing to speculate about. Is there a thread for that already I wonder? I bet R2 is with Luke and C3PO is with Leia when the film opens. R2 likes adventure and C3PO not so much. I bet we get to see more than one reunion and there will be a scene where the droids reunite after a long absence.

I kind of like the idea of Adam Driver being Han's son. Solo being the man he is, would go far over the edge trying to save him, having the resorces, connections and the personalety to do so.

Having John B's carracter going from Stormtrooper to Padawan is easy to imagine. Luke wanted to go to the academy himself inn Ep IV, but fate had other plans for him. Having Johns carracter actually making it that far before he sees the right path makes sence, and makes things more complicated and exiting.

I am going to throw a curve ball and say that Ms. Ridley is playing none other than Luke's daughter. He meets a lady friend after the events of Jedi and the two fall in love and have a daughter. Tragically the mother is slain by the Sith and Luke takes his daughter into hiding with him. In order to protect her from this new threat, He begins to train her in the ways of the force for a debatable amount of time. She only trains for a short duration and does not become a full fledge Jedi Apprentice. However the Sith locate the duo and send a strike force to capture or kill them. Luke makes a terrible sacrifice and sends his daughter to a backwater planet where she can remain hidden from the Sith. Luke sets out to get to the bottom of the resurgent sith but he is never heard from again.

Im having trouble seeing Han and Leia being a steady couple. Han isn`t that guy who settles down and live happy ever after. He would panic if he got a kid, and fly away inn the Falcon, paying some kind of parental contribution to Leia and their kid from that point on. But Han would keep an eye on them, and turn up if something bad happened to them, I`ll give him that. Maybe John Boyega is Leia`s and Landos son. That would be very excellent and extremely cool.

Man, JB being Lando and Leia's kid would be an interesting twist. I like it, but it's doubtful.

LOL that would be so ballsy. Maybe Han and Leia have been split at the beginning of the film and it's hinted that JB is in fact the love child of Lando and that's the reason why.

I think Adam Driver is playing one of Luke's first apprentices who fell to the Dark side. Luke is trying to save his old apprentice at the beginning and that's why nobody can find him.

    Here's my guesses...
John Boyega: Zare Leonis II - A defected Imperial Stormtrooper who, unknown to him has Force abilities. He will become Luke's newest apprentice. His father appears in Star Wars REBELS. He is the top graduate from the Imperial Academy but always questioned the Empire's motives. One of the lead characters.

Daisy Ridley: Kira/Jaina/Leia Jr. Solo - Han and Leia's young daughter and Jedi in training. She is a skilled lightsaber duelist, pilot, and tracker. Solo is also the latest apprentice of her uncle Luke Skywalker prior to his disapearance so she trains herself with the aide of Yoda's Force ghost. Zare Leonis II's love intrest. One of the lead characters.

Adam Driver: Decendant of Dooku's line. He is a skilled Jedi but feels the Dark side pulling him. He is the best pilot in the current incarnation of Rogue Squadron. He is the heir to an aristocratic family and is obsessed with ancient Sith artifacts and uses his limitless wealth to track them down. He joins the main villian, who has been training him in the Dark side of the Force. Kills his master and takes the name Darth Ruin at the end of the movie.

Oscar Isaac: A Mandalorian bounty hunter who has been hired by the "Empire" to hunt down Luke Skywalker. Or maybe a Thrawn-esque character who is in charge of the Imperial fleet.

Andy Serkis: Serkis himself said he is sort of a cameo appearance due to Abrams using his mo-cap company. That being said I think he will portray an aged Zeb from REBELS.

Domhnall Gleeson: Ben/Luke Jr. Skywalker - Luke's only child from his late wife, who is unnamed at this time. He actaully does not have Force powers so he grows close to his uncle Han Solo and ends up with the Falcon in his posession. One of the lead characters.

Max Von Sydow: Vader's secret apprentice (not Starkiller) who remained hidden after the fall of Vader and Palpatine and chose his time to strike now after finding a suitable apprentice in Driver's character. Very Darth Bane like in terms of chosing his apprentice.

Lupita Nyong'o: Leia's rival in politics.

Gwendoline Christie: A Stormtrooper captain under Oscar Isaac's command. Turns out to have Force powers like Zare, her top recruit underling. Ends up with a love/hate relationship with Gleeson's character when they fight, appears they have a history possibly childhood friends but she joins up with the "Empire". (Serves as a Mara Jade like character who uses her Force powers for her tasks within the Empire and rises through the ranks. Keeps her Force powers secret.) She ends up falling for Ben Skywalker and joining the "Rebels" in Episode Eight. Although she has Force powers she doesn't use a lightsaber.

Crystal Clarke Lando's daughter. A pilot for the "Rebels."

Pip Anderson: Jacen/Han Jr. Solo - Jaina's twin-brother who also has exceptional Force skills. Follows his mother Leia's footsteps in politics and becomes her protoge, but ends up joining in on the fighting towards the end of the film. Has a crush on Lando's daughter.

Christina Chong: A Jedi the trio of Ridley, Boyega, and Gleeson meet on their travels. More of a cameo role but becomes important in Episode Eight.

Miltos Yerolemou: An aged Ezra Bridger from REBELS who is training his own apprentice, Christina Chong's character. More of a cameo role but becomes important in Episode Eight.

I think in order for it to link up more with EPVI it will have fewer Jedi. Maybe 2 max. Maybe by EpIX they'll have restored the Jedi order, but I think that will develop over the series.

Right. That's why I said Chong and Yerolemou will be more important in Ep 8. But the main three I think will be Jedi. Boyega could go either way but I think he will be one as well. Post who you think each character will be!

In a dazzling display of directorial genius, Abrams has recast the roles for the entire original gang...

Carrie Fisher - With the downfall of the Galactic Empire, she was finally able to get some quality "me time". She has since retreated to the dessert where she makes beaded necklaces for sale in the Cantina. The Daisey Ridley character is her shop keeper

Harrison Ford - After years of being a wandering rogue, he has now found a home he can call his own. He returns to a life as a carpenter, and dispenses wisdom while literally "rebuilding" planets devastated by the war. Boyega's downed TIE fighter crashed into a building he is working on, which allows Han to explain to the young lad the error of his wayward life.

Mark Hamill - The galaxy is without leadership. It is too important a job to let pass to a lesser character... Luke takes up the mantle and becomes the new Emperor

This is how the story begins

I think the story will focus on 2-3 characters. The new young hero or heroine, the "villain" and the original trilogy characters. The droids will tie everything together (or they should). I wonder who has them, Leia who had them in IV? Will they be split up like in V or together but on their own (seemingly) like the beginning of VI? Feel like C3P0 will be with Leia and Han, too many chances for great lines from that ensemble. R2 was pretty much Luke's so it'll be very interesting to see who R2 is with.
