SPECULATION Why all the Red associated with this film?

Red and red light has through the PT and in TFA been code for evil/darkside.
Anakin riding into the sand people's village.
Ben on the bridge
Mustafar

How its used here remains to be seen.

All characters in red,those teaser posters characters including yours nice one, meet at Crate.Snoke,who we now know is badass and master strategian,will strike at that planet.Centerpiece of the film and likely defining moment of trilogy.

Lol wait you mean the theory that Rian tweeting a picture of thread meaning something SW related wasn't debunked? It was definitely just a twitter joke. Rian and a few other people he was interacting with at the time were tweeting pictures of thread as a play on the thing where people retweet threads and simply say "thread".

I mean yeah there's a mysterious connection between Rey and Kylo, they stated as such on the databank. But the tweet of pictures of threads has nothing to do with it.

 

Well, that's the point I was trying to get a across. Maybe you should have read my whole post, have you clicked on the link?

 

I was watching the teaser again and a few things hit me.

When we see the books as Rey mentions "balance" you see it inside that tree. Luke is standing over it, stroking the ancient Jedi symbol with his gloved hand. When he says the Jedi has to end, he is standing almost outside of the entrance to the tree. He is telling Rey his plan. Then the logo shows, with the eerie red words. I think this plan began with him and Ben.

On the poster that came with the teaser, you see Luke and Ren both colored red, with Rey in the middle, the light of Anakin's saber slowing changing to red as it reaches the top. They are also represented as Rey's antagonists as they both hover behind her or both are using her for their plans. I feel it's telling me both he and Ren started the path to ending the Jedi long ago, and Snoke is somehow oblivious to it or Ren convinced him Luke was the good guy. If not for how badly Snoke's hold is on Ren, sometimes I think they are working together and fooling everyone.

This made me think the reason for the red is, Luke's attempt to end the Jedi is going to tip everything to the Dark side before a merging of the 2 sides occur.

 

red means different things in different cultures.
in the united states we associate it with rage and blood, but in china it's the color of good luck.

we've definitely good cause to associate red with the Sith in the context of Star Wars, but i agree with you--there may be a subversion of expectations here.
not that i think Ben is in collusion, but because i think Johnson's going to turn the Force on its head for us. good and evil are going to be put in a proper blender.

we focus on the red because it's so stark and the contrast is so amazing.
what we're not looking at perhaps is that the backgrounds are all blinding white.
in the united states, white is purity, hope. in china, it's death.

The death of the Jedi, that will lead to hope if Luke's plan work.

 

possibly? the Sith are already dead. perhaps the Jedi need to go to maintain balance. who knows.
Snoke says the "new Jedi" will rise. maybe he's more prescient than he realizes and the "new Jedi" are something completely different.

 

That's likely what Luke is going to train Rey for, a type of Jedi that uses both sides without leaning one way, and since you can't be called a Jedi with darkness in you, she won't actually be a Jedi, just like Daisy said.

Oh yeah haha that book is likely all about the balance of the 2 and it's so old, you can tell such ways have not been done forever. Before this can happen though, the balance has to be shifted. That's why my theory is the red is showing everything will shift to the dark, but it won't last. Everything "dark" will get the upper hand, but only for the early parts of the movie.

 

i still feel like the Dark already has the upper hand, but yeah, i suspect this is going to devolve into a "nobody's right" scenario, with all of them: Snoke, the FO, the Resistance, and the New Republic all holding a seed of truth, but none of them grasping the full picture of what is right.

 

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I also find it interesting they focus on Leia for the Light with Rey's theme, and Kylo Ren's mask/theme with Vader's breathing for the Dark and then mention a balance. I feel there's going to end up being some type of merging between the opposing sides.

 

in an interesting way, the fight between Ben and his family is really at the center of this story. fix that and everything else could easily fall into place.
i know people don't like the Rey-as-cleaner-upper idea, but it makes the most sense: she's the best hope this family has.

 

The poster seems to show the Skywalkers are the problem. Both are in red, looming large behind Rey, though Kylo is closer to the blue rays and Luke is right at the top with the red rays. Rey being in the middle and not red also convinces me she is not related to them at all. The Skywalkers are the problem and she has to solve them. Anakin's saber chose her because she's not of their blood, so the cycle won't repeat. That's how I see it for now unless her parentage alters that.

 

i love that poster to death (need to get one!), but man, i can't help seeing Rey holding aloft the galaxy's biggest, longest bomb pop ~ hahahaha

but yeah ~ Rey's got her work cut out for her!
