Seems people are worried that it won't but I believe it certainly will.

Can we have a third option of 'I hope so'. If it doesn't have humour, it's not Star Wars.

Im hoping Han will ignore and walk past C3PO again back at the base. That would be so cruel and funny.

The lack of humour from all the trailers and footage we've seen, really has me worried. When I watched the most recent trailer, all we saw was expanded versions of scenes we'd already seen. Not a moment of humour in any of it. I also didn't like the music they chose- it was too modern, too much like Star Trek.
They've held too much back to be honest, as a result I have a sinking feeling in my stomach.

I think that there will be humor in it. My guess is that Han will have a witty remark or two about Finn being a (former) Stormtrooper. And maybe BB-8 as a sort of R2-D2 kind of humor or "droid fight" between R2 and BB-8. C-3PO perhaps.
A lot of humor no, but humor yes.

    EDIT:
Too be honest I prefer that the funny moments are not in the trailers. More emotion when we are going to see the movie for the first time. More surprise you see. A joke in the movie is not so funny anymore if you have seen it 99999999 times in the trailer.
I understand you are worried. Humor is a part of the Star Wars universe, but not seeing it in trailers doesn't mean it won't be in the TFA.

Totally agree. We don't need comedy. The comedy comes from those human interactions. Things we can relate to in our own lives. We don't need slapstick. TESB got the balance just right.

I have to respectfully disagree that it was just expanded versions of what we have already seen.

It is true there were some same scenes but different. But I understand your concern.

First off...humor is usually a small portion of a Star Wars film, taken in small doses here and there through out the movies. And while I haven't gone back and watched trailers for Episodes 1-6, I do not think there was much time devoted to humor in them, so I'm not sure why you are basing your concern on that. Now, could the trailers be alittle bit more light hearted? I guess. But humor usually requires some sort of a setup, other wise it is just not very funny (and Lucas without any help writing could not do this, which is why he started relying on burping and fart jokes.). So to answer your question, I am 100% sure there will be humor and light heartedness in this movie through out. I really think when they started making TFA they asked the question "what does the audience want or expect out a Star Wars movie?". We know that one of the answers they come up with was 'Practical Effects'. But I can almost guarantee that 'Star Wars' humor was also brought up. Which is probably why you will see more banter between Han and Leah....situations with the droids...light moments as the new Big 3 get to know each other.

I'm sure it will have humor in it. Everyone involved in the writing and directing knows what Stat Wars is and has used plenty of humor in the past. I wouldn't expect to see the humor in the trailer though. Cracking a joke would have really pulled me out of the emotion of that thing.

Also humor is important to Star Wars for me, BUT I would rather have no humor in the move than bad humor like TPM.

I'm not concerned but some people are. I have no doubt it would have some lightheartedness and fun too.

I loved the banter between Han and Luke in ROTJ on the way to the Saralaac.

I think it will be there but just not present in the preview yet. SW humor comes from unexpected moments, character interaction, and circumstance=all of which the trailer has yet to reveal. The trailer is setting the tone and showing a mix of adventure, peril, and excitement. I think we've seen some inklings of humor with BB8 and some of things Boyega has mentioned (he described Finn as a "quirky" character-so there has be some humor in the character).

I am all for humor in SW.. It was one of the elements lacking the prequels. (And much of what we got was very forced slapstick.) But to be honest, I wouldn't want humor in the trailer. It would have ruined the mystery and nostalgia and the "war" side of Star Wars we saw in the preview. I think the lack of humor is due to the lack of information. Most of the humorous moments in the OT would not make sense in a clip in a preview. You need the context of the situation and character interaction for it to work.

I'm happy with the tone of the trailers. I'm sure there will be humor in the movie but I wouldn't mind if there was none or close to none. But then the movie would need to compensate with good grittynes and darkness. I prefer that over lighthearted movies (e.g. Christopher Nolans Batman series).

I definitely think there will be humor in the movie. I also agree with @BamBoosle-8 that the humor should stay out of the trailer otherwise it will become stale when we see the movie.

Think about comedy movies these days. You see a trailer and say that movie is going to be funny and then when you watch the movie you realize that you have seen all the funny parts. Star Wars is not a comedy but does have humor. We don't want the humor to be waisted in a trailer.

The slower moments of the film where humor ought to be present....

    1) Rey's introduction, before she encounters Finn at the market.
    2) Inside the Falcon after the escape from Jakku, before the skirmish with the Unkar gang (where Chewie is injured).
    3) Inside the pirate cove, before Maz's vision/flashback.
    4) After the Battle of Takodana, when the forces muster on Yavin.

Major difference from OT: humorous quips are tossed about during life or death situations because the audience knows the Storm Troopers are keystone cops and that none of the heroes will die. But now, in TFA at least, the FO troopers appear to be better trained and more deadly. So, I doubt we'll hear anyone make jokes while being shot at -- which will be a refreshing change IMO.

I really hope they don't take that awful Joss Whedon approach where every character indiscriminately spouts out "witty" one-liners at each other. I'm so tired of that approach.

Some humor is always appreciated, but otherwise, know when to shut the f*** up!
