Another pretty good episode. Season 2 is shaping up nicely.

    things I liked:
*spending some time with Hera. She's my favorite rebels character

    * the detail of her head tails flopping around when upside down.

*rebels recon finally answered what happened to Wolfe and gregor. Kinda crummy that it wasn't made clear through the show though.

    minor quibbles:
    * 3 star destroyers only launch 6 tie fighters?

    * Since when were the b-wings the most maneuverable ships? Also, fighters can take out capital ships? Why would either side use capital ships?

*Quarry's eyes were so far out of his head that I wasn't sure if he was Mon calamari until the episode confirmed it. Also, the Mon Calamari have a long standing feud with the Quarren. Quarry's parents were shitty and I bet he got beat up a lot as a kid.

*The blockade. They all acted the ships had to move in a straight line. "we're closed off" No kanan, just go around. Maybe they could've jumped into the system not right in front of the imperials.

    Thing I hated:
    * the planet was supposed to be so dangerous that pretty much no one gets off it alive. Why would Kanan volunteer Hera for a potential suicide mission? Why would Hera bring along Zeb and Sabine? She put their lives in danger and didn't really need their help. Why wasn't the b-wing and ghost affected by the lightning storms on the way out? The planet only shocks incoming ships?

edit: turns out I'm an idiot. Those things weren't star destroyers, but much smaller freighter like things http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Arquitens-class_light_cruiser

Because that's the level of Kanan's trust in her. :)

Good episode. I've really loved Season 2. The B-Wing seemed a bit overpowered, but I don't know. I won't argue.

I really enjoyed this episode, in part that it centered on Hera while she has been a background character for the most part lately. I loved seeing where the B-Wing came from, but i am a little concerned about it being overpowered and pretty much taking out a capital ship? Who knows, but i have to say fraking awesome! So much in this episode, also didnt we only see the B-Wing in ROTJ? But they said they are going to put them into production?

Well, we have seen no X-wings so far, that might push the B-Wing down a bit.

I loved that we get to see how B-wings came to be, especially since we see so little of them in the movies. They are cool. Overpowered? We never really saw them in action and this is a cartoon. I am not complaining, they are cool. I like how much fate Kanan has in Hera and I like hearing a little bit about her background. Filoni said we will see her dad this season as well. I want to see that reunion.

This is a good season so far, but the episodes are sooooo short. Next time - Sabine! :)

I see a captain America moment coming. The Empire is going to assassinate the engineer and the Rebels won't be able to reproduce his prototype. In a side note I loved Hera having her own episode but I really want to see The New Dawn Hera. I want some Secret Rebel Agent more than momma Hera or pilot Hera. The problem is it won't feel real unless they can give her a new outfit. I wonder if they could put her head on Seventh Sisters body?

Gotta watch the rebels recon. They drop some big story beats in there.

Episode 4 isn't the full rebel alliance, just Dodonna's people. They said the rebels with b-wings join later. Combined with a recent quote that the show could go 6 years, I think they are setting this up to go past the events of episode 4. If the show is successful, we might see it run into ROTJ.

As an aside, looks like I was full of garbage about quarry, and it was "quarrie" as in McQuarrie. Ign pointed this out, and I instantly loved it.

Yup, I caught the McQuarrie reference as well. In fact, he's a Mon Calamari - MC - "Quarrie."
But didn't Joe Johnston design the B-wing?
Love the classic WEG RPG tie ins that FIloni and crew have been adding in, ever since Clone Wars.
As for overpowered, since the ROTJ Sourcebook, the B-wing was always been slated as an anti-capital ship strike fighter. The converging laser was pretty cool too. Also neat how the prototype is a 2 seater, with Sabine sitting in the "bottom" bubble. And while it's fast compared to the Ghost, I doubt it's as agile as the A-wings.

I love it! I'm happy to get most of my quibbles successfully argued away. I partly make these post because I'm not as sharp as I used to be. I love hearing what everyone has to say.

One more thing I thought about. In line with the crew's flippant attitude towards death, they didn't seem to mind that the cargo freighter was sacrificed. Hera went so far as to say "lets try again, I can get at least 1 through".

I know it sounds like I complain a lot about the show, but I just find it easier/ more entertaining to pick on things, than to have a long list of things that were great.

I watch it as someone posted it, thank goodness and thank you for whoever posted that.

I had thought that the Mon Calamari was rather short, but this is the only second time i have seen one, but perhaps they come in all sizes.

I think I need to just stop watching any sort of previews. After watching the preview for this episode, I was hoping to learn more about Hera's past...nope, everything about her past was said IN the preview video.

I'm going to watch it again tonight with my daughters. I think I may like it more the second time (I definitely liked the previous two episodes more the second time, so there's hope).

I was so completely excited to see a B-Wing in action, though. It was always my favorite. I went back recently to watch the scenes in ROTJ to see what it was that got me hooked...and...I can't find it. They do almost nothing in the movies. So, all of my love must have come from the Kenner toy and/or other merchandising that intrigued me.

I didn't care for the super laser, though. It's a cool enough ship without having to give it a cheat-code weapon.

Not trying to be so down on it - I think I was hoping for more...well...HERA...in the Hera-centric episode. I already knew she liked to fly and that she was from Ryloth.

I am really intrigued by the notion of this series traversing the time span beyond ANH, though. And it would actually make a lot of sense to do so. Allowing this group to be doing other missions during ANH and/or ESB would allow for lots of cool references and scenarios.

Sadly, this was probably my least favorite episode of the season thus far. I've been yearning for a Hera-centric episode where he learn more about her history, her family, her roots in the Rebellion and how she came to get where she is. I was hoping this episode would at least scratch the surface of that, and instead, we got what essentially amounted to a vague, one-sentence exposition of why she loved flying.

The frustrating part is that we know there is an intriguing story to mine, here. We know her father was a key figure in the waning days of the Old Republic/the start of the Rebellion. We know she was actively working for the Rebellion before even meeting Kanan. We know she knew all of the major players - Fulcrum, Bail Organa, etc. - long before we knew she did. There was all sorts of good stuff to plunder and reveal here, so I'm disappointed that we got none of it.

The ships of the Rebel Alliances, and the differences between them, have yet to be canonically explored beyond "X-Wings = dogfighters, Y-Wings = bombers", so I appreciated the backstory on the B-Wing and the explanation for its true purpose as a blockade runner/buster of sorts. (man, the Rebels sure love those types of things). I think another missed opportunity here was to have the Rebels actually visit Mon Calamari, a planet which should be a massive hotspot for Rebel activity, given their presence in the fleet at the Battle of Endor, to say nothing of Admiral Ackbar's position within the Rebellion. Instead, we got a wizened little hermit perched on purgatory - alright then.

And then there was the ending. Yay, the Rebels destroyed one ship and dropped the supplies. Well, what's stopping Kallus and Company from just doing down there and mucking things up now that the Rebels are gone?

Long ramble short - this was an episode that had real potential, and unfortunately, it dropped the ball in a big way. Very disappointing. Hopefully next week's Sabine-centric episode makes better use of the tantalizing possibilities available to them.

    1) I think they are saving mon-cal for a while. We don't see cruisers until ROTJ, so they might not exist yet. Since they aren't in the battle for the first death star, and no Mon cals were in the breifing room, we can assume they joined sometime between ESB and ROTJ.

    2) excellent point. Furthermore, couldn't the empire just keep up the blockade? Then the rebels would have to pull this stunt every few weeks. How long could those crates possibly supply a whole planet for?

haha i was thinking the same thing.

what we didn't see off to the side was the hologram of one of the captains with his arms crossed mouthing "What Dafuq? that tailhead say??!"

Did the empire use a piece of Quarrie's B-Wing main weapon design for the Death Star. If you change out the red beam for green it would look the same

The dialogue was really bad on this one. Overall a very generic filler episode imo, but the B-wing origin aspect saved it. I want to like it more, but it was still kind of a turd.

I agree that Hera's backstory deserves to be explored, but isn't blowing through all the good material quickly how TV shows die an early death? I'm banking on patience.

Well, the Empire is going to keep mucking things up all over the place for 10-30 more years, so I'm okay with this. With the Rebellion in its infancy, a supply drop against a blockade is an unquestionable success? What else could they be doing—that wouldn't prematurely end the series or preclude the events of the OT?

Anyway, I guess I'm just generally advising patience. And rambling, too.

I'll take that advice to ramble ;).

What is the point of Hera's visor? It slipped over the front of her eyes only. It couldn't have been for breathing, and the windshield would've kept particles from blowing in her face.

I really enjoyed and liked this episode, but it wasn't my favorite. That being said, I'll probably enjoy it even more by the time the season's over or when I watch it with friends. Hera needs more episodes, but like @Corran Horn said, I'd like them to be less about pilot!Hera (which feels almost hypocritical to me since I love the idea of a Mandalorian!Sabine focused episode and the Jedi ones are always enjoyable. Maybe it's just preference ;)). Anyways, @alex good review and I can't wait for next week!

    P.S.
This is really random, but I hope we get a Zeb episode focusing on his species and feelings soon. He's usually my least favorite character of the bunch (I like them all, but Zeb's usually getting the short end of the stick) but I feel like with character development he'd be a really fascinating character.

I bet she has them for sentimental reasons rather than functionality. Can't you imagine her learning on a open cockpit speeder. Might have been a interesting story wouldn't it be great if they had a episode where they could tell that story. ;)
