Your Minor Gripes

I must have seen a different film to you guys...

 

I lot of people have this complaint but there are 2 easy explanations. 1 she learned it from Ren when she was in his mind. It was clear to me that she entered his mind when he tried to enter hers. She learned about his fear and could have learned more. 2 she had some training before she was left on Jakku and knew about it. She is clearly very strong in the force. Ren got the holy S look in his eyes when she took the moment to gather the force. Maybe at that moment she remembers a lot more too.

 

Ahh ok I get you now... all I can say is that Star Killer base apparently doesn't have to move because it looks like it can hit targets anywhere.

& yeah, it's a good point... it looked like Han was sitting there watching it... a quick reference like Han saying "I had friends there" would have been enough.

Fantastic point, & there was the part where Rey said "you are afraid that you aren't as strong as Darth Vader"... so maybe she could look into his mind as he looked into hers.

 

When you go in with rigid prejudgments on 2 of the main characters and the films director that tends to happen.

 

Good point, I'm sure JJ intended to add reactions, but he cut something like a half hour from this film, probably to keep the fast pace going.

 

Not pre-judgement, just being real and going off what was shown.

 

I'm kinda bummed we didn't get that now. It might have come across as a bit forced or hokey (depending on the delivery), but hey! It's Star Wars, that's part of the charm.

 

You had written off Daisy months before the movie came out and had made it pretty clear you didn't like her from the start and made some pretty bigoted remarks regarding her being a white girl from a certain part of London. You had also pointed out many times prior your distaste for JJ and any of his movies-shows he had a part in making. Further you had a Jedi-Or Die ultimatum with Finn.

Time to be honest (I liked how you pulled this trick on another thread) with yourself, they were prejudgments that have clouded your take on the movie months before you even saw it.

 

How bout the fact the entire movie took place in one day? Day and a half tops?

 

This is a minor gripe, but I thought the destruction of Maz's castle looked too much like a set with props. The blocks laying around and stone rubble. Looked too much like a movie set to me, but probably because we saw so many behind the scenes pics.

 

Too many jokes.

 

very little galaxy, you can see planets blow up from everywhere. seriously?

 

Tell me about it planets not in our solar system arent even visible with a telescope...heck eventually u notice the star flickering but only after the light gets to you years later.

 

Yep, not a fan of that.

 

Reading the novel and Rey was in rens mind. Also, Ren found something in her mind that was blocked. It's pretty clear someone did something to her mind and it scared Ren. He couldn't get in.

 

I was i like that with finn but i loved his character regardless. cant wait to see him in episode 8.

 

I'll pop back in to say that, after seeing the film a second time, Phasma didn't bother me as much. Knowing how little she actual gets to do I was able to appreciate more when she was on screen, and I wasn't constantly wondering 'When's Phasma gonna do some badass thing?" For what she ended up being, I like her.

 

I felt it left a little too much unexplained in between Episode 6 and 7. Rey being able to use the Force and a lightsaber out of nowhere. R2D2 just deciding to wake up right when they needed him to in order to find Luke. Starkiller base (AKA Death Star 3). That's it. The first 2 (maybe 3) points I feel will be explained in episode 8 or 9. Disney is clearly playing the long game and purposely leaving questions unanswered. We haven't seen the big picture yet. Other than those things I loved the film.
