I think JJ is doing an excellent job so far. The fact that he is a fan of episodes 4,5,6 and goes to the extent of putting the dice back into the cockpit of the Falcon....wow....that's attention to detail. And going back to using physical sets instead of cgi, the guy just wants to reach back and grab the magic that started it all. When A New Hope came out in the 70's we were all amazed by it, we stood up and cheered at the end, people applauded, there had never been anything like it. JJ is trying to bring that back, and I for one can't wait to cheer at the end of episode 7. It's going to be magic. It's going to be great.

Yes, and he has said his favorite SW movie is "A New Hope" not Empire like the most of us all, I'm sure. I think he is going for that fun, adventurous, on the lighter comical side for this movie. That's not to say it won't be dark but I think the darker stuff will be in 8 and 9.

So far, I got nothing bad to say about JJ's work at EPVII so far (apart probably him being so secretive but I can understand it and go along with it) I love the reports of how massive and detailed the sets he's building and how very little green screen he's using it, he's bringing back man-in-suit for the stormtroopers ( but let's be frank, CGI will still be present in these new movies) Love the old-school approach but also using new stuff like the IMAX cameras that will make some of the scenes look even more epic!

I love the fact he declined at first. He didn't just jump in. Yet... after all that with Kathleen really pushing for him... he changed his mind. I especially loved him talking about his chat with his wife. The whole I promised you guys personal time and she was like... You are passing on Star Wars? You? He said she could see he was excited at the idea. Boom. We have a director. So round of applause for Katie in understanding him better than he did himself!

I've enjoy a lot of JJ's work. I wont say it's all been perfect but I never thought any of the stuff he directly had a hand in was ever terrible. I'm not a big Trek fan so I can't say anything about him remaining pure to the franchise but I certainly loved the reboot. He's got a flare for directing a large cast of multiple personalities into adventurous scenario. Why does that sound familiar?

If his teasers are anything to go by in regards to Episode 7... he's done nothing but build up my confidence. I'm not asking for much JJ. A decent story, likable characters and... STAR WARS.

He is the right man, in the right place, in the perfect moment. Ok, there is a lot of expectation and there is always somone who remains disappointed, but JJ has proven with Star trek that he can handle a huge franchise and all the pression involved. IMO we will see a great movie and, if we leave our mind open and free from all the personal reasoning that we have done and will do before the premiere in december 2015, it will be another awesome Star Wars ride.

Super excited to see the new film.
There is no doubt in my mind that JJ will make a fantastic movie for those young and old to appreciate.

Hopefully this new trilogy is the one that takes Star Wars back to magic :)

If I had to bet my life on whether or not EP7 will be good, I would bet that it will be AWESOME!

That is how much I believe in JJ and his team.

I didn't actually bet my life. So, no pressure, JJ.

    Ha, Ha!

JJ Abram's resume speaks for itself and I, for one, could not be happier that he is helming Episode VII. Though, I would feel better if he were directing one or both of the latter parts of the ST, I'll settle for the one. In JJ's, the opening act of the ST is in very good hands.

I think he'd be offered right of first refusal for Episode IX, especially when Episode VII banks 3 billion! :p

I wonder what the percentage 'take' would be for a director of a movie that does that well? I guess it would depend on the contract, but let's suppose it's 0.5%. That's a lot of money!

Yes it is. I would ask for a cut of the merch as well. LOL

Episode VII will make a TON of money whether its good or not. I wholeheartedly expect it to be great! In which case Disney would be fools not to attempt to get Abrams to finish this cycle, which is strongly in his vision.

"The Redemption of Luke Skywalker" ...I believe the most likely plot line for Luke will revolve around his redemption. Luke will be seduced to the dark side sometime after episode VI for the following reasons: 1. He didn't complete his training. (As per Yoda) The tragedy was not that he went to rescue his friends, but that he hadn't completed his important training, making him susceptible to the dark side. 2. Luke is now alone, and thus susceptible to the Dark Side. Han has Lea, but Luke will quickly start to grieve the loss of his father, and the "lies" of Obi Wan -who was trying to protect him, but nevertheless... lied. (From a certain point of view). 3. The Emperor zapped Luke multiple times, and Luke is a set up for post traumatic stress. The terrible "dreams", just like Anakin's, will begin shortly after the Ewok's party! Anakin lost his mother... Luke lost his father. Fear and anger are the paths to the Dark Side! The thought that Luke is off on some distant planet, becoming a Jedi Master under another wise Jedi is just too simple and "nice". That's why it won't happen! Just envision him on Mustafa or another dark world. Yes- he's finishing his training, but not as a Jedi... rather... AS A SITH LORD!! Who will redeem him? I would suspect that the twin children of Han and Lea would be perfect... especially as their parents die in Episode VII, at the hands of Luke's Sith Master, "Old-N-Worn-Can't Bend-No-More". So there you have it- my prediction, or my vision? (My midi-chlorion count is very high, don't you know!) Dr. Kris (Storyteller Studios) September 9th, 2014.

The fact that JJ wanted the release date bumped back to December instead of rushing it for May makes me happy. He wants to put the time and effort into crafting something magical, not churning it out like a corporate snoozer.
Practical sets are a major plus, and he spent a lot of time looking for actors like Boyega and Ridley. The actors seem to have good chemistry with their director in this case. I have faith.

Can't tell if serious... Might be feeding troll...
But if you are serious, nice try man. Points for originality. I think you might be grasping at straws though.
    1. Luke did finish his training. He confronted Vader ("only then, a Jedi will you be") but he resisted the Emperor. He didn't give in to the dark side, and he redeemed his father. And at the end of the movie he understood why Obi-Wan and Yoda hid the truth from him. Nobody understands the dangers of the dark side the way Luke does at this point.
    2. Yoda and Obi-Wan both lived as hermits for 20-some-odd years and there was no indication that their solitude made them more susceptible to turning to the dark side. And they went through their own traumas with all the other Jedi being wiped out. If anything it would protect him from its influence.
    3. Luke didn't really have a deep connection to his father. Rather, his father's death was the one meaningful bonding experience they ever had.
    4. There's nobody in the cast that fits the bill of twin Solo children so that just aint gonna happen.

Yeah but Luke was the last of the Jedi. And with no other force users (assumed) perhaps the force NEEDS balance and expresses that through Luke. Light AND dark sides. Oops.....forgot about Leia.

I love the idea of Luke at least struggling with the Dark side. Maybe giving in to the dark side to save Leia, a friend, or a child?

Yeah, I agree. I think we might see Luke struggle, and maybe he'll be more grey than light or dark. But I don't see him being a full-fledged Sith.

Maybe their is some merit to the idea that Leia turns. She has the potential to be as strong as Luke, she hasn't been tempted, and the force needs balance. Maybe?
