Where do you think Ricciardo will move to if he does decide to leave RB. Ferrari would be great apart from the fact that Vettel is there No1 driver & there time at RB wasn’t exactly great for Vettel. Mercedes could also be a option & they do tend to let there Drivers race (Sometimes to there own detriment).

At the moment, given current form, I reckon Ricciardo will end up replacing Bottas at Mercedes with Gasly being bumped up to the Red Bull from Toro Rosso.

Or Hamilton decides to walk away if he wins that 5th Championship & you have Ricciardo & Bottas at Mercedes.
I also wouldn’t rule out Sainz being recalled to RB if a seat becomes available.

You're right about Hamilton wanting the 5th... but I'm not convinced that's happening this year. Bottas' role at Mercedes was to fill the gap with a reliable driver and while he's turned in some good performances, he's also had some far less consistent turns. With the lack of 'killer instinct' in Bahrain and ceding the place to Ricciardo yesterday, it just seems like his report card for this year is far from proven yet.

Sometimes I have the feeling that you have to have a huge amount ego to win the championship, like Senna, Vettel & Co. Nice guys like Ricciardo or our former driver Berger are equal as drivers, but it seems they seek for huge egos when they reach out to get the championship.
If I could decide, I would put Ricciardo in the Nr.1 Ferrari and Sainz in the other one :D

They are two drivers I have a lot of time for... as unlikely as it is, that would be awesome.

Ferrari need to start treading carefully. I'm sure they realize that Kimi is a worldwide fan favorite (no idea how the miserable sod is.. but he is) and way more popular than Vettel.

They are very fortunate to have a fan following to such an extent that they have their own term.. the Tifosi.

i know that the teams have to be cutthroat to win in F1, but their anti-Kimi decisions are starting to look overly obvious.. and are actually bad racing decisions.

Definitely this... remember his "Leave me alone, I know what I'm doing!" slice of fried gold from 2014?

...or in in 2006 when he was asked at the Brazilian Grand Prix why he missed a lifetime achievement presentation from Pele to Michael Schumacher? Reply: "I was having a s*** " :D

Even his response to the reporter in the driver press conference in Bahrain 2 weeks ago when there was all the discussion about Liberty Media's long term plans for F1:

Reporter: "What things might you change within the sport if you had the power?"

Kimi: "I wouldn't change anything. I don't have the power so what's the point to waste the time and even think about it? I don't understand. What's the point for me? To give you a list, but then I have zero power? We don't make the rules. What's the point in even telling and making a story out of it?"

    Bwahahahahahaha... Legend! :p

Not really adding a bit of fuel to the car so the can ran on full power for longer isn’t that big a deal as it is only a couple of tracks where this is a major issue & then if there is a safety car or VSC then it becomes a non issue the fact that Drivers can only have 3 engines a year is a much bigger factor in drivers not running there engines at full power for longer so this fuel increases from next year won’t change a whole lot.
Though I can see teams not taking up the extra fuel (If this is a option) as a way of reducing the weight of the car & so making them faster in the opening laps of a race.

The major Engine news will be at the end of May when the proposed Engines for 2021 & beyond are revealed. Now these are going to be interesting & it’s probably going to get nasty.

indeed.. this is step 1 out of 200.

adding 5kg of fuel AND removing one of the energy recovery systems? seems stupid, but falls inline with bringing in new suppliers. give them more leeway on fuel consumption for the early days of introduding an Engine and remove a complicated part of the combustion system that has caused big manufacturers issues. I don't believe any of the stuff about the changes improving racing or pushing the engines harder... poodoo! they are managing engines already because of the 3 engine rule in effect.

I think they have almost zero hope in getting Merc and Ferrari to agree to taking off the MGU-H. Liberty would have to drop their budget cap plans to keep them sweet.

gonna be an interesting few weeks :D

Also it’s a big gamble for Liberty Media do they potential alienate 2 of the current Engin suppliers in the hopes of getting new members interested in coming into F1 because if they do go ahead with dropping the MGU-H & Mercedes & Ferrari decide to quit & then no new manufacturers come in they are effectively up S*** Creek Without a Paddel.

it's all politics.. they will never actually risk losing Merc and Ferrari, and vice-versa.. Merc and Ferrari will at no stage want to leave F1.

the manufacturers will both know that big changes are coming and they cannot be stopped.. but they will scream as loud as possible until they get 'something' back that makes them happy. Liberty will already understand that, and are experienced enough to play that game with them.

i'd love to be a fly on the wall during the meetings during the next month !
