Here's the thing. Many people who don't know, don't know or notice. There's been some discussion about this... That's why I bring up the uncanny valley thing. I wonder if there's a mental thing for certain people who know too much so their minds are playing tricks on them.

    Episode 4 - Fallen Jedi
(No running commentary this time – I was eating ;) )

Good episode with a lot of solid drama. I’m loving this show :)

A couple of points that stood out for me:

So, the grin on Evan Whitten/Jacen’s face when he gets to pull those jump-to-hyperspace levers… yeah, that brought tears to my eyes. Evan is having a great time on set, I think, and I can’t help but get emotional. He’s what I wanted to be as a child, and I’m feeling the feels.

Take a look at Baylan fighting! Stevenson (or stunt double?) is doing a really good job; his footwork is great and he’s steady as a friggin’ rock! You couldn’t push him over if you tried! I wonder if Stevenson (or double) has some martial arts training? @Rogues1138, take a look at this guys!

And finally, a prediction: Obviously, the Ghost is going to jump to the neighboring galaxy with the aid of the purgills; that’s exactly why they were introduces/teased last episode. The heroes are going to hitch a ride with the purgills, just like Thrawn & Ezra did in the Rebels finale.

I can’t speak for anyone else. In my experience, I was totally invested in the emotional reality of the moment. But when we get that reveal, I was completely taken out of it. I was no longer engrossed by the emotive heft of the fantasy - a genuine connection between human characters. I was completely distracted by a noticeable production choice. A literal false face. It was jarring to me and that became the focus rather than what was happening in the scene.

Anakin's face is too smooth and is noticeable de-againg face but overall, not completely bad like some are making it out to be and I also fine Leia/Tarkin underrated.

Apparently one of the X-wing pilots was one of the actors under The Mandalorian suit so that's cool

I thought Anakin looked fine. The bigger issue for me is why he is hanging out with Ahsoka and making amends with her - shouldn’t his first priority be Luke? (And Leia?)

It is implied that Luke and Leia probably had a profound reconciliation with Anakin’s ghost - but they never really showed that. It seems like that would have been the most important story.

Also getting a bit tired of storylines about people fighting over maps to find an important person. This already happened with Luke and Palpatine. Where do all these maps even come from? :D

I loved Stevenson since the HBO series Rome, he played Titus Pullo in the series, he was a favorite of mine. As far as the fight choreography, what bothers me is the flourishing or twirling of the swords, it looks cool, but thats actually a reverse attack/strike, but its used in Star Wars because it looks cool. I really wonder if Dawson took up martial arts on her own before this series, because her stances and intensity of movement strikes me as someone who has trained in the arts. Stevenson has always been a bad @$$ since the Punisher to Titus Pullo, so not surprised at all, I just was waiting for him to be unleashed. Also, Sabine moved slowly or crept toward Shin in their first duel which displayed a lack of confidence, and Ahsoka does the same when she is approaching Baylon so I automatically knew who would win the duel.

John Wayne's grandson. Nice of them to give him a part since he's been such a big part of Mando.

I believe the answer to this question will be revealed in the next episode. My guess is Anakin doesn't know about Luke/Leia. At some point before Revenge of the Jedi, Anakin entered into the World Between Worlds. So he doesn't know about his fall. Ahsoka will be faced with not telling her old master of what's going to happen. To let go of trying to control the force, like she did with Sabine...

Which leads me to a theory I have about what's going to happen with Ezra. One of the big questions I've had with Ezra is how could he be with Thrawn for all these years and not be sympathetic to Thrawn's Chiss cause. Well, maybe it's because he's never been with Thrawn? Ahsoka was pulled out of her duel with Vader by Ezra in the World Between Worlds and here's an opportunity for Ahsoka to return the favor. She pulls Ezra out before he whale jumps with Thrawn. Ezra and Ahsoka now are on a mission to find Sabine and Thrawn. We know about Ezra's connection to the Whales and they jump to the same destination.

I really really liked the WBW concept in Rebels. Because it was never really at all about ‘time travel’. It was a story construct centered on Ezra accepting Kanan’s death. It was about him understanding that it was his choice to sacrifice his life to protect the people he loved. To undo that, to negate that sacrifice, just to better manage his grief, would have been the greatest betrayal imaginable.

It’s that acceptance that ultimately puts Ezra in the frame of mind to later do the same. To willingly sacrifice himself to stop Thrawn and protect his home.

With that being Vader's saber; my money is on Padme.... if THAT guy is in fact father Skywalker.

Yeah, the face was that bad.... his appearance is off putting.... then I noticed the hilt and the lack of Endor Robes. Also, Tano hated being called Snips.

    Whole thing seems weird.

    I love it anyways.

    ***

    Which leads me to....
Speculation Time: That is not Anakin Skywalker.

They did not de-age him for KENOBI - this version of Anakin is meant to look like the Skyguy, but something else is going on.

Also: Can we bet on this @Wuher?

Yeah... like, sure it's noticeable. But it's not the worst thing in the world.

Could they have gotten by with just some Hayden and some makeup? Sure.

But I think we all need to realize this de-aging thing is here to stay. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn't, and in this case you have all the hallmarks of one that should have worked (Hayden being available for a model, darker lighting not drawing attention to the flaws, just a brief shot), but for whatever reason it didn't resonate with everyone. Oh well.

Anyway... this isn't the real World Between Worlds, right? Hoping it's just a hallucination as she's unconscious, and a vehicle for giving us flashbacks to the Clone Wars... and even more likely, this bad business on Mandalore with the Wren clan that was alluded to this episode.

    Anywho... it's giving me

Moon Knight. And as good as that single episode of Moon Knight was, I didn't love what it eventually did for the show. So, hopefully it's more symbolic than literal.

Anyway... wild, reckless speculation time. If it IS the literal World Between Worlds, Ahsoka has the opportunity to have set something in motion via it, much like Ezra did by saving her. In fact, why even introduce "time travel" (I know, fellow nerds, it's not really time travel) to this story if it's not even used?

So, what would she do? Knowing how the WBW actually works (given, sigh, not time travel), she seemingly cannot undo something. But rather, she can shift a past event.

Since this is such a Rebels-centric show... could she save Kanan, displacing him to another time? I know Freddie's been pretty vocal about not reprising that role lately, but perhaps the Prinze doth protest too much.

Or maybe she uses it to save Sabine's family?

More likely, though, if it's even real and it's used, it's just used for some advancement of the plot. Maybe Ahsoka uses it to turn Thrawn against the Empire before Baylan's arrival, or does Thing™ with McGuffin™. Or maybe she punts Baby Yoda off the cliffs of Ach To, idk, there's endless possibilities.

I still don't know what to think about the WBW. I've been slowly processing it since Rebels and I guess neutral. I wasn't hoping it would show up in live action but I'll just wait and see how it plays out for now

Anakin looks so.... clean, almost a perfect replication from a very specific Prequel scene.

Calling his appearance off putting, is negative - but in this case, I think that's the point.

    "Anakin's back & he looks UH-mazing!! Hey wait a minute... something(s) ain't right."

I'm all in on some Mortis-based trickery, so I can't wait for next week.

    WANT.

Holy Crap - THAT - would be the greatest Star Wars gif of all time.

    EDIT:
hey @Lord Phanatic - we about to have the Shin Hati = supergirl gif - lol
Tano yanked her by the scruff of the neck; ragdolled her into the wall. Like whoah.

If that's really Anakin? The Vader Theme was a strange thing to add, like this is a trick. Plus, shouldn't the real Anakin have that force ghost effect around him? He doesn’t have that.

Yeah, I don’t think that’s really Anakin. And I’m not really up on the whole WBW thing, but unless there’s a portal open, doesn’t someone have to be in there watching to save you? Is that how it works? ie, you don’t just fall in to it.

At this time point, Anakin is dead, as is Vader. So can they/him actually be in there? If not, then who is it that pulled her in?
    Im confused.

Well, Yoda was able to access WBW in Rebels when he talked with Ezra, but Ahsoka was struck in battle. Maybe she's I dunno unconscious?
