Biggest development of the Episode was Ahsoka actually cracked a smile. So I’m finally happy!

I really enjoyed this episode. I’m not sure what to make of the WBW and Anakin reveal. My initial reaction was “holy crap this is awesome!” But my next reaction was “they better be careful what they do here” because if they do something eye roll inducing with Anakin in a canonical story they’re messing with the man who made the franchise.

I also really like the visuals. The ruins in the first episode and Anakin’s de-aging are notable exceptions but most everything else looks great.

Yes. She really did. I loved it. Evan though she was in serious pain from Nightsister magic, she still straight flung her like, (looks up while heaving) Where the hell you think YOUR going?... I ain't forgot about you b****. GET yo a** on that wall! Being a Shin fan doesn't mean I don't adhere to logic. I never once believed Shin would/could beat Ahsoka. Whew! Baylan is like one of those stone map monoliths!

I do believe the map Morgan utilizes is connected to the Nightsisters. I'm not sure if the Nightsisters created it however. It could have been created by an ancient species older than the Nightsisters order.

I've got a maybe hot take on this. Marrok was not all that interesting. His official profile stated he was a former Inquisitor now working as a mercenary. Meh. He is FAR more interesting now, seeing what happened when he was "killed" WTF? We may never know any more, or he could have been foreshadowing the rumored "zombie Stormtroopers" If nothing else, he was a cool Easter egg.
This is one of the nuttiest speculations ever, but I quoted it because of a funny bit I saw on SWE that said if Maul does come back, someone is gonna need to buy his legs back from some Jawas.
We do know what the Bendu was/is. He's an ancient Force being, possibly one of the Celestials, who did not represent the Light or Dark, but the Balance in the middle. Or to simplify, just another "mutant".

This is an excellent point. I'm wondering if they are going to start selling that more or just depend on the exposition we have gotten and the build-up of getting to him.
And this too! I know it is rarely mentioned, but Thrawn is a TACTICAL GENIUS! LOL. He is very likely to get back, survey the Imperial Remnant, merely chuckle, and truck it on off to his people in the Unknown Regions.

Yes, this, and Paul Sun Hyung Lee getting to say, "Lock S-foils into attack position!" Knowing what a super-nerd X-wing guy he is, that had to get him.

Rosario has always had the moves...

The Uncanny Valley is exactly what I thought of. It's funny, because I see a lot of people say it wasn't bad at all, or they can't see it... I am not at all someone who would normally even notice, but it jarred me. Still doesn't bother me, but it stands out.
Practical makeup easily could have worked, or nothing at all. This is why, until I see otherwise, I am calling it intentional. There is a reason Anakin was made to look like he does here. The reason could be...
Exactly. And he was living at that time. It was either Filoni or Henry Gilroy that said about the WBW in Rebels, 'it's not time travel, and there is nothing inside of it except what you bring into it.' Or something like that. So Ahsoka is probably manifesting Anakin. Who else might she manifest?

    100% this

I'll take new and mysterious over recycled old stuff any day of the week, myself. The opening up of a new door with the smoke-presence filling Marrok's armor (Nightsister witchery?) is much more interesting, IMHO.

This episode gave me some Lord of the ring vibes, when Ahsoka and Sabine left the ship into the forest and later when Ahsoka killed the Nazgul Inquisitor.
When it comes to Anakin, yes I thought he looked quite wrong, I was wondering though if it is Anakins' force ghost.

I know, right? SO many questions....

Did Kenobi and Yoda have ghost sabers?

What about Ghost Luke in the Sequels?

Also, why would Vader's saber be on Anakin's hip?

Interesting thought, it really was aBreaking of the Fellowship moment, even kinda echoing the autumnal colors of Amon Hen.

I guess they could... I mean, they have ghost clothes. Unfortunately, we were robbed of seeing a fully nude Sir Alec Guinness giving Luke advice throughout the original trilogy.

I suppose a saber is similar in that it's a non-organic accessory carried or worn.

But what it represents seems interesting. Either it's something so important to the Jedi that it makes total sense their ghost would have one... or it represents the violence they've left behind.

Great question. If Ezra didn't save her the first time - would Vader have killed her? If she didn't get bailed out in episode 4, would Baylan have finished her off? We will never know. Ahsoka Tano is the posterchild for being saved from certain death - by mystical means.

Yeah, that would've made the Jedi seem more Wang Chung than Bendu, so I'm glad ol G. Walton Lucas passed on nekkid ghosts.

I get that. It certainly teaches Ezra. But the WBW is a ...place?... where one can alter the past and maybe the future. So maybe "time travel" isn't the right phrase. It's a potential course-changing tool that, while I trust Dave, could be abused the same way time travel can/has been used as a crutch in other IPs.

I will add that I thought they visually captured the Rebels WBW much better than I ever thought they could in live action. Not sure why, as they've recreated everything else to a tee.

My figuring is maybe Anakin accessed the WBW in the past (although he's wearing Vader's lightsaber, not his prior one but he's missing the scar so when exactly is tough to nail down), and pulled her in the same as Ezra in Rebels. But who the hell knows.
    --- Double Post Merged, Sep 7, 2023 ---
There was no blue sparkly hue around him, so I'm working under the assumption that it's really a flesh & blood Anakin. That said, he just kind of appeared ... he wasn't there and then suddenly he was. Maybe she's having a vision like Kylo did of Han.

Holy moly - that would be something. If true, no one will ever tell me again that someone else is the Chosen One. But then, I would also be more pissed that he failed to show up in the Sequel Trilogy. Here I go again, Whitesnaking. - I feel you on the lack of blue ghost glow - but the oddly perfect appearance combined with Vader's saber have me betting that what we're seeing isn't Anakin at all and we're about to see more from Mortis. Plus, the Snips thing.... can't stop tripping about that.

Next week is going to be crazy.

    EDIT:

lol - seems that I am not alone, just found this.

Sabine's mandalorian moments made me want Din Djarin but Din is now one of my favorite star wars characters and I've never been huge on her and so I'm biased. I do like her enough though to be kept interested in her stories

The Tolkien references are pretty cool, and I think a lot of that is due to the whole Ahsoka/Gandalf thing... I've also seen a lot of comments comparing the start of the episode to ESB when they park the Falcon on that "meteor" for repairs.

Ok. Okay. I think I got this figured out. Remember in Rebels, in the WBW, when Palpatine tries to seduce Ezra into saving his parents? He looks and sounds like pre-Windu Chancellor Palpatine. After Ezra rebukes him, he transforms into the hideous and cackling Emperor. Vader is doing the same thing to Ahsoka. He is showing himself exactly as she last saw him as Anakin, when she walked away from the order.

This guy pulled an interview with Filoni about the WBW. Interesting insight from Dave. Go to the 1:03:00 mark:

If Anakin has replaced the Father on Mortis - does that mean he found Padme?

Maybe Sabine felt the force telling her she needed to go to the other galaxy, even if it meant going with the enemy. That Ezra can be found and the enemy exiled there forever. She and Ahsoka agreed that if they couldn't get the map back and find Ezra, then they must prevent the enemy from doing it. But by being their captive Sabine IS going to find Ezra. So the conditions needed for Sabine to be compelled to destroy any chance of Ezra and Thrawn being found hadn't been met yet. Technically.

Or maybe it's the dark side. I'm not convinced though. And I'm not one of these fans that is continually trying to anticipate main characters consciously turning to the dark side or using it. As if it was the peak of Star Wars drama.

Choosing a chance, both for yourself and for your lost friend, to live even though it gives the enemy a greater chance at victory, when the option is sacrificing yourself to foil their plans right there and then, is NOT turning to the dark side, in my book. Is it so different from Indy surrendering and allowing the Nazi's to open the Ark, rather than blowing it up?

If anything, it was Ahsoka that perhaps fell a little to the dark side when she retaliated for, she thought, Sabine's death. Maybe that's how she ended up in the WBW in the presence of Anakin/Vader.

    Also.

The way that the hyper-ring took out the escort fighters as it jumped to the other galaxy was rather specific while being somewhat anticlimactic. I suspect that this is a set up for how the enemy will be destroyed in the end. Just much more spectacularly and devastating to many more ships. The good guys will have commandeered or compromised the hyper-ring by then obvs.

I thought that's EXACTLY what they did.
Agreed. That was a fun episode. I just needed to relax my critical brain over the show's map plotline and 'Go with the Flow' :)
    THANK GOD! :)
