Watching the Jimmy Kimmel show earlier, I couldn't help but feel bad for Mark Hamill missing out on all of this great publicity/marketing. It also didn't feel right seeing Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher there without Mark Hamill....

    Anyone else feel this way?

Or am I just a "nostalgia blind OT fanboy who can't accept anything new"...?

As appreciative as you might be, the majority of us will say no in regards to our anticipation of Hamill, which we will be disappointed by regardless.

I guess maybe he really is in the movie for two seconds if they're this hesitant about even bringing him on for interviews/promotion now...

    Or, his role
Is so important that they're worried about showing it and hurting fans if that's even possible.

Yeah I posted something similar in an earlier thread... as much as I hope the reveal of Luke will be worth the mystery, Mark Hamill is such a likable guy that it's a shame we don't get to see him doing promo for the movie and going on all the talk shows.

I do miss his presence. I'm suspicious though. They might be trying to surprise us. Or maybe they really are saving Lukes big reveal for VIII.

What if we get ZERO Luke in TFA. What if during the editing they decided it would be an even bigger shocker for fans to walk out of the theater saying "NO LUKE?!$"

    THIS.

That's really how I feel about it. He's so cool, down to earth and likeable....in general it would be great to see him, but I also feel like his personality really balances Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher's well...

I think I would cry. Surely he will be in the film longer than some people think.

Maybe they're saving his appearance/s for the final week before release.

    Yes.
    Yes!!

I'm not expecting this, but at the rate footage is dropping I wouldn't be surprised if some Luke frames appeared in promo during the final lead-up.

    Anyways, Hamill can handle...

Yep, that's it. HOWEVER, I'm the guy that saw the OT in theaters 77-83 and have been following it ever since, so I get what you're saying...without a doubt. I'm of the notion that he's sitting back, chuckling about it, and just waiting for the movie to debut because I think that there's potentially going to be a "Luke explosion" after the movie.

You see, everyone wants to know where Luke is at, and after this movie, Mark is going to be on every damned talk show on television talking about it and answering ALL of those questions, and it's gonna be a lot of work for him. Just wait...his turn at the mic is coming!! :)

I will always respect Mark, he is a beacon of honesty in this world of plastic.. and of course I feel bad for him. He is one of only few people involved who 100% understand what Star Wars is.

"If I say no to this then everyone will hate me."

"These people that build it up in their minds like it's going to be the second coming of, I don't know what — they're bound to be disappointed."

"I said to George, "Have you really thought this through? Because maybe it’s not such a great idea."

"I have something coming out where there’s an amount of money that if it leaks, because of me, I don’t get that payment..."

Gotta respect the guy's balls to say this stuff.

    Are we maybe over-speculating?

Thus far Marks absence suggests he will have little screentime. Putting him there with the others could create a false sense of anticipation for the average viewers and they trie to avoid this at all costs. Nothing worse if anybody were to go to watch the film and then expect Mark's arrival scene after scene.

Alternately, Mark is now a bad guy. Featuring him as the nice relaxed guy he is in real life could again create a wrong sense of anticipation for the average viewer: (mimicking Ewan McGregor from RotS) "We all thought you were going to be Mr. Nice Guy!?"

I'm somewhat confident we'll see various interviews with Mark after the film's release (and less with Fisher and Ford). At the end we'll have balance.

P.S. And isn't Mark still on location shooting VIII? He may not have time, yet.

Mark has been Forced into real life isolation.

Star Wars isn't so much fiction as it is a fantastical period piece biopic of Hamill's life.

WE GET IT! YOU LIKE HAMILL!!! YOU WANT TO SEE THE BIG 3 TOGETHER AGAIN!!!

I want to see it too. But seriously, it is exhausting reading all of your Hamill posts on this forum. He is truly a great guy. But you need to think about opening your horizons a little bit. There is plenty to talk about. But somehow your posts always come back to this.

Also so you know, I truly respect your passion for Luke Skywalker and your admiration for Mark Hamill.

I'm sure Hamill wants to talk to the press and he will get his Chance. It is really just about being patient until after the movie. After the movie, he will be set loose!

Don't worry, guys. He's the big mystery. He's the big surprise. He's the big reveal. He's the main engine to the whole plot. He knows it. We're supposed to know it.
It's sooooo amazing for our film experience. Wow. Can you imagine finally seeing him and Snoke for the first time on the big screen after months and months of speculation ? We're lucky, guys. Mark is waiting patiently knowing we'll all go crazy dec 17th. Thanks JJ !!!
