There is a definite correlation between bad news and the amount of negative ratings given out around here. Disney has us eating each other.

We are fully responsible, Disney/ILM said nothing in the last weeks. We had high expectations, if we start to go against each other its or own responsibility.

Are people really upset at JJ and Mickey Mouse for not releasing a trailer they never said they were going to release? That is just crazy and that is something coming from Uncle Joker.

It's not about being mad so to speak. They had time to temper expectations. You are telling me no one at LFL/ Disney has a social media/forum intern with their ear to the ground? They knew what people were expecting. I guess it's good we had more than 24 hrs to digest it. It will be fun to see if they stick to their guns and stay quiet or if some type of damage control comes out between now and Friday.

They do not have to justify themselves for fans making assumptions about what they will present.

Hey I am over it... I'm still going to the movie no matter what. It's just funny how there are always apologists, like yourself, everytime someone makes a bone head move. I think we can be dissapointed. This is not high art where Picasso doesn't have to justify the meaning behind his painting, and if you want to keep your bread and butter interested in all your ancillary blast, you'd best stroke us. I also thought the info would have been flowing more freely by now. Sept to Dec is still going to feel like a lifetime of saturation if that is the concern so I don't get it, but it doesn't matter anyways- out of my hands.

The whole "Joker" shtick is probably better served somewhere like the "Suicide Squad Forums Dot Com"

This isnt about the casual fans having to wait a couple months for another trailer. Its about the people who are actually going to comic con that are getting royaly screwed. You buy a ticket and go because you expect to see exclusive content. Usually a trailer or footage. It's what comic con is known for. I am completely stunned they are giving the middle finger to that loyal fan base.

I would have loved a new trailer but it's not going to ruin my day, week or the next few months. I may actually get some work done now! I can wait a little while longer.

Not to be in denial, but is there a possibility EW got it wrong? Or "misinformation"? Or perhaps a trailer was in the works and it didn't make the deadline? Just looking for other reasons, I really don't think it's a deliberate slight

It is not a slight because they never promised a trailer.

The only people that look at MSW or reddit are the hardcore fans. They're going to see the movie no matter what. I don't care what they say. LFL isn't hurting themselves or anyone else here. They're just Mystery Boxing. I've seen enough from the first two trailers. Trailers now days give the whole movie away. I don't really need to see anymore to know that I'm gonna watch it. The casuals will see the trailer in the Fall and get exited. I, and all the other hardcores, have already been exited for two years. This isn't going to effect their Box Office turnout, in my opinion. I'm fine with no trailer.

...of course, I'd lose my mind if they said "psych! here's a trailer!"

While I agree that they never promised a trailer, AND we're not OWED anything, I suspect you're a troll, and I'll be watching you

I totally get the disappointment, I feel it too, but I think right now there is a lot of confusion between what we wanted and what qualifies as good marketing. Those of us that come to forums like this and gobble up every bit of news that leaks out, only represent a small percentage of Star Wars fans - nevermind the movie going public at large. And as much as we wanted the new trailer to come out this week, that's not necessarily what's best for ticket sales. We don't need to be stroked. We are all going to see the movie even if they never release another trailer.

Tickets for SDCC were sold out months before they even announced there would be a Force Awakens panel. I might agree with you if you were talking about Star Wars Celebration, but SDCC isn't a Star Wars event. And at any rate, a new trailer wouldn't be exclusive. If they showed a trailer at SDCC and didn't show it to the rest of us, imagine how angry that would make people.

Movie trailers are designed to sell the movie to the public, not to feed hungry die-hard fans. People here want to compare the marketing for Star Wars to Tomorrowland, but they are completely different animals. Starting in September with the release of the first wave of merchandise, there will be an unparalleled blitz of marketing for TFA. We've already seen images on basketball hoops and chairs, it's going to be everywhere. I fast forward through television commercials, yet somehow I've managed to get tired of the Jurassic World Subway ad - and it's going to seem like nothing compared to the tie-in spots for TFA. While we hardcore fans will enjoy every bit of it, it's reasonable for Disney to be concerned that the general public will get burnt out on it. I completely understand their decision to let it cool off a bit during this late summer period.

I also responded in the SDCC thread:

"....Omit TV/Internet commericals/Toys until Sept./Oct. AND give the die hard fans what they want too. WIN WIN. CC could still be awesome and no one knows it yet.
I agree with you guys on this, but just highlighting the concern from some after TFA scaled down for CC and then picked back up, and how that might have sent mixed signals. Whether this was CC concerned for ticket sales begging them to have a showing, or a historic poor relationship between Disney and CC remains to be seen.
People just want to be a part of something historic and special this go round and it felt like that might be the vibe of cons this year leading up to the release."

It's all good. I dont think anyone is irrationally upset - at least as of this morning.
