Isn't it odd that with 5 months and some change left till the release of TFA we never got a full blown trailer yet. What the hell are they waiting for? The full trailer should be playing in theaters as we speak.

Maybe i'm just being impatient, but dammit just give us the trailer.

 

i don't know about you life-long fans, but i've loved Star Wars for about 3 weeks now and i honestly don't mind that we're not getting a trailer

yes, it sucks that EW said there will be no trailer, but until SDCC (or Disney/LFL speak up) there's no way of knowing how accurate their report is. at any rate, it sounds like we'll get some behind the scenes info which is often more telling than a trailer anyway.

as for disrespect to the fans, i don't quite understand: Disney and LFL never announced that a trailer would be shown, just that there would be cast members present, etc. as i've stated above, behind the scenes stuff can often be more telling than a full on trailer, so really even the hard core fans will be served; in fact, it's probably the case that only the hard core fans will care about behind the scenes stuff!

my bet, we get a trailer in August with D23, if not at SDCC. only time will tell! just a few more months and none of us will have to get annoyed with a lack of trailers!!

 

They need to keep pouring gasoline on the fire, not really showing stuff is a bad move.

 

This makes a lot of sense. Releasing new trailers in consecutive months would be overdoing it. And releasing a new trailer at D23 will help draw attention to the event, and therefore everything else Disney is looking to promote. If I was in charge at Disney, and I had to pick between the two, I would certainly favor my company's own event. And that's not even taking into account that Disney isn't exactly thrilled with SDCC at the moment.

 

I'm thinking they can use Comicon to help their other properties that maybe don't get as much attention. Star Wars doesn't need Comicon's help to make a big splash. When they release the trailer online in a couple months, it will have more hits than anything else from Comicon is gonna get.

 

Disney doesn't know what they're doing, they're spending a boatload on an event in San Diego that's going to generate ZERO buzz. I smell a rat. I smell a disorganized, unfocused campaign, that doesn't know what it is doing.

It's like they just sucked all the air out of the room and told us all not to get too excited, which if Iger's comments just a few weeks ago are any judge, was an order straight from the top. A frightened, risk-averse, conservative company that still markets their products like its 1993.

The disrespect comes from how they are handling this. We all knew star wars would have a presence at Comic Con this year with TFA due out in the fall. At 5 months from the movie it was perfectly reasonable for fans going to comic con to expect a trailer or footage would be shown. Instead we get an insider leak 4 days before comic con there will be no trailer. Seriously? Why doesn't Lucas Film just come out and say it? Why string us along only to let us down days before the event? It's not good PR anyway you look it.

 

Maybe because it isn't true? A leak from an anonymous inside source a few days before the event? Smacks of misdirection. One of those "let's do the whole panel and just before we call it a day BOOM! New trailer or footage." It's either that or were are going to get juicy info on characters we have yet to see, like Gleeson, Serkis, MVS, or more on Maz kanata, kylo Ren etc. If EW is right and no new footage is shown we are probably going to get just a little more information that confirms or dispels popular rumors, and maybe something brand new to keep us on our toes. Either way I suspect all of us will be back on the forums speculating about it.

I didn't say anything about a trailer, just show more stuff maybe some supporting characters and a couple small clips from the movie and more set stuff.

 

I think we should get a petition together to make them issue us a sincere apology. It is just bantha poodoo that they never promised a trailer and the fact they are not bringing one was a total shock to me. They should of sent out personal handwritten letters to all us to lessen the blow of this catastrophic news. How dare they not promise something then not deliver on what they never said they would do!
