This is about your favorite scene amongst all movies. You must pick a scene. A scene is defined "the action in a single location and continuous time".

For me, this scene embodies Star Wars, when Luke is in the cave with the Wampa:

Luke cleared his fear, his anxiety. Even as a novice user, he concentrates, reaching out asking the Force to help him. The Force is still strange to him, both unfamiliar with each other, yet cooperating.

To me this scene embodies the essence of the Force and Star Wars.

The Sarlaac pit scene from the moment Luke gets his Lightsaber to the destruction of Jabba's barge.

Without a second of hesitation: The binary sunset, which in my opinion is also one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history.

[IMG] Not gonna post a clip as it's a long sequence, but for me it's Luke vs. Vader on Bespin.

Thats actually probably my second favorite myself. It showcases how strong Luke has become.

Classic in the sense it plays the 'Jedi Theme' so to speak and he looks off into the distance, the future, unaware of what was coming. Very serene.

Nobody can deny this duel is top ranked. Vader was toying with Luke the whole time. Even on the Death Star, Vader did not fight at full capacity as his inner self had conflict.

The first glimpse into training to become a Jedi under the tutelage of Yoda. Allowing all mental capacity blocks to be released, all doubt. Awesome choice indeed.

Usually I would say "The Binary Sunset" scene but it was already mentioned. So I take my second favorite scene:

Luke going ham on Vader is easily my favorite. It's such an interesting moment- you want him to win, but at the same time you're horrified at what he'll become.

It's so rare to actually be concerned about heroes taking it out on the villains in other movies.

It's a really powerful and emotional scene. Luke almost turns to the dark side but then he is able to let go of his anger just in time. The soundtrack is also awesome. I get chills every time.

Agreed. Out of all of the iconic Star Wars music, this haunting track really gets criminally overlooked.

Absolutely. "A Jedi's Fury" is probably the most underrated Star Wars theme but it's one of my most favorite. I kinda hope we hear it again in the ST, maybe for Ben's redemption...

Don't know if it's my favorite, but it's so well done.

The costumes (Palpatine's stole!), the set design (that mural!), the acting (some of the best of the PT!) -- it's all really well done. Plus we get spoonfed the reason for Anakin's turn to the Dark Side.

Other good scenes from Revenge of the Sith are the opera scene and Padme's ruminations.

This scene right here for me. Just love how Luke has enough strength to stand down the Emperor and refuses to join the dark side.
    Kid's got some balls :p

Sequence/scene. It has a theme. For example we couldn't call all the shots done on Hoth a single scene.

The Wampa and Luke in the cave was a scene. The battle of Hoth was a scene. The escape of the Millennium Falcon and Darth Vader in pursuit was a scene. You see where I was going with this. It is kind of left open to your interpretation a little admittedly, but basically pick out your favorite moment.

I loved this scene especially too. Around 2:40 into the scene we get into the twistedness of Darth Sidious and his adeptness at sensing anger, hate hostility, and power. Using his own life as bait to draw Anakin even closer to the dark side.

"Are you going to kill me?" To which Anakin replies "I would most certainly like to", and Palpatine capitalizing on the opportunity and sensing how close he was to falling to the dark side he finally says "I know you would. I can feel your ANGER..." you know the rest.

It shows the ferocious intensity of power Sidious had using the dark side, using his own life, his own lie about who he was, as bait to draw Anakin that much closer to his fall to the dark side. Great choice.

That's not my "favorite scene" as asked by the thread title, but I needed to add something to that:
The soundtrack is revelative how much Luke taps in the dark side: the theme is the Emperor theme, especially when Luke just cuts off Vader's hand.
But the main fact is that this scene gets even more powerful when compared to the Anakin/Dooku one, where Anakin kills Dooku.
In both scenes Palpatine/Sidious is overlooking an ongoing fight. In both scenes, that fight involves the current Apprentice and a challenger. In both scenes, Palpatine/Sidious spurs the challenger to kill the Apprentice, hence, he will become the new one.
That's what Palpatine wanted from Anakin: kill Tyrannus and take his place as the new Sith Apprentice.
That's what he wants from Luke: kill Vader and take his place as the new Sith Apprentice.
Both scenes mirror perfectly, they only differ in their ending : Anakins falls into to the Dark Side and obey to Sidious order, Luke resists.
It is interesting to think on why the first failed and why his son succeded.

But that was not an anwser to the thread title.
So my favorite scene is, by now, the Vader's scene ending R1. Reasons are multiple:
    - long wanted scene. Hard fans of the Dark Lord were waiting for this scene to appear on screen since... 1977. We have waited for 40 years. 40 years! And it finally came to us. Wow!
    - genuine SW scene. Okay, Star Wars is about a galaxy and several differents worlds, okay there are aliens, okay there are space ships and light sabers... but Star Wars, basically Star Wars is Vader. Any doubt? Say "Star Wars " to any people around you, and ask them to give a unique word in response: I bet a major part will respond "Vader". Or "I am your father" ;) Actually, which scene could better embody the whole SW hype than a ferocious Vader one ?
    - smart setup. Nothing really introduces that scene. Just a perfect 3-times act: 1. Lights off and black screen 2. Sound reveal (introducing Vader's breathing). 3. Vision reveal (the saber illuminates the scene). How breathtaking was that ! From that point you are nothing but sure something is about to happen.
    - aaaaaaand.... action! Wow! That scene, that black guy as he comes full crazy on his opponents, that red blade that twirls into the air, those cut arms bleeding, those force chokes, that fear in opponent's eyes, we ALL have seen this so numerous times before! We have seen this in comics - but it was frozen drawings. We have dreamt about this - but it was just dreams. We have seen this in games, on the PS2, on the Wii - but it was just poor CGI artefact... It is both a scene we have all already seen, but it is also actually the very first time we see it, in 16/9 and 9.1 dolby surround. Just say : Wooooow!

Best. Star. Wars. Scene. Ever. :)
Not only due to its graphic qualities, but also, because we wanted it for such a loooooong time... you know, "now, I can rest in peace" :) :) :)

Their are a lot of great scenes in all 7 Saga movies and the one Anthology and for me it would be impossible to chose one among the best are some of the previously mentioned ones like the Binary Suns, "I am a jedi like my father before me," the Wampa Cave, and the Vader V. Luke from Empire, but to that I would add Han and Leia's "I love you" "I know" and Obi Wan's "Strike me down" scene. But one that I would pick more than those would be Obi Wan and Anakin's Mustafar confrontation, all of it but specifically Obi Wan's "You were the Chosen one!" speech. That moment makes me like Revenge of the Sith as much if not more than Return of the Jedi, but it also shows how amazing Ewan McGregor was as Obi Wan and even Hayden isn't that bad with Anakin's rage screaming.

    For me it's this moment

This is a perfect ending for the Star Wars films by emboding, horror, suspense, triumph and tradegy in one single moment that's only uder 3 minutes long. The Horror of Palpatine's dark powers, the fear for luke's life. Vader's turmoil between a life he hates and a death to save his son. Vader saying "no..." and then...wait a minute...oh f-
