Of course I can't; It's a Star Wars message board for god's sake, I'm like the twelfth Skywalker and don't even keep track of what I say.

But the mass suicide would be awesome.

Bringing logic and well reasoned arguments to Internet. Well done, sir, though it might be useless.

Also, folks, calm down or move along.

Actually I remember that I enjoyed Hook a lot, being surprised how bad it was rated when I looked it up on rotten tomatoes a few months ago.
So I still have ... hope.

I actually enjoy Hook. But when it came out it was very divisive and considered one of the Spielberg's worst efforts. I listed it because of critical reaction.

I would rather watch Colin's vision than another Star Wars movie directed by Gareth Edwards. Yep, I'm not a big fan of R1.

If Ep. 9 isn't very good...its not the end of the world. Star Wars is still cool. It's also possible that Ep. 8 will suck...and then we'll all be begging for Colin.
But as far as him getting canned for making a not so great movie...I think most of you are right. He won't get fired. I think Disney/LF is looking for directors who will play ball, not necessarily visionary, game-changing directors. Star Wars is one of those things that has to be very consistent. So there is an army of LF people behind these movies making sure everything looks right and is "canon" and has the Star Wars tone. So they need directors that will get in line, much like how George got directors he thought he could control.

The thing about Gareth is that he creates amazing visuals but in story department he relies very heavily on the script and the screenwriters. From Rogue One I can deduce that Gareth's understanding of the director's role is to visualize the script. However, what Lucasfilm seems to beinterested in, especially in the Saga films, are directors that can tell a story. I know that the difference is subtle, but I would feel safer with a director that has a more hands-on approach with the storyline.

Which is why SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED is what is getting Trevorrow so many jobs...he's a good story teller.

I remember fans not being thrilled when Edwards got Rogue One because of the reception to Godzilla. How quickly fans fall into a recency bias.

Which is why I believe people should give Colin a chance. Also - remember Irvin Kershner? The guy who directed The Empire Strikes Back? Do you know any of the films he directed before Episode V? Exactly. People really need to chill about this.

You're familiar with people in the world right now, right? "Chill" isn't in their lexicon.

FTFY. Also, I believe that in a matter of at most one month people will forget about this and people will move along.

Or The BFG. (Which isn't awful, but it is a pretty big step down from his usual efforts as a director.)
Ah yes, the director of the esteemed Robocop 2 and Never Say Never Again.
