That's been my worry all along. I just really hope they have a plan to end the episodic saga (and hopefully by IX), so that we don't eventually get to Star Wars: Episode XXXVI - Please Stop Beating The Horse, It's Already Dead, wherein they stop making the films only because people stop going to see them. They need to learn to let go and move on to other stories, even if it's within the same universe (I wouldn't be adverse to an Old Republic trilogy, or even trilogies). A trilogy of trilogies for the episodic saga is enough for me, three acts to a whole story. For that to be the case, though, they need to convince me that the OT was the Act Two, and that they're not just making another Act One with this new series.

No, they can't have because MSW has removed other content at Disneys requst such as the leaked battle on jakku with stormtroopers chasing Rey and Finn plus another leaked video of part of the Tie fighter escape and some leaked concept art. So my guess is that Disney has no grounds because it's a synopsis put together by fans and not official material that they can claim copyright on. Or it's wrong enough for them not to care.

I think you're underestimating that fact that Plagueis, to people who don't populate boards like this one, is as new as "New Snoke." That's even something you pointed to in refuting my Too Lengthy An Explanation argument.

Either way, the filmmakers got some 'splainin' to do in introducing Snoke. I just think that, were I the makers, I'd prefer the audience to say "So who's this new guy?" which they're already asking anyway, rather than "Wait, I'm supposed to know who this guy is?".

Lucas created a character, ergo it is Snoke? Because Snoke is tall and thin and might look like a Muun? I'm not saying there's no case there, I'm just saying it's not as air-tight as a lot of Plagueis fetishists insist.

I think you'd have be a world-class idiot to think that the Plagueis connection to the Skywalkers is stronger than, say, an actual Skywalkers' connection to their own family.

Admitting when you're wrong (if you're wrong; and you may not be) is not the same as not having a motive or agenda. Motive is the reasoning behind an action, in this case, finding as many pieces of circumstantial evidence as you can to support an outcome you'd prefer. Agenda is your intention, in this case to prove the Plagueis theory correct.

I'm not trying to prove anything right or wrong, I'm drawing a skeptical conclusion based on my interpretation.

No just no, they will not just drop a one liner in to explain who Snoke is, if he is Plagueis they will reveal it in VII and it will be fleshed out. This isn't good story telling otherwise. Like I said before, if Snoke is a Muun then we will know 100% in VII if he is Plagueis, if he is a Muun and its not revealed he is Plagueis then he will not be.

Episode VII Villains story and intentions revealed, Heroes keep their Mystery.

If we going to have 12 episodes to the Star Wars saga, episode 6 is halfway point of the story. Luke and Leia connect the first half with the second half. Anakin is main character in the first half, Rey maybe in the second half. Sidious main villain in the first half, Plagueis main villain in the second half. People cannot get past the "RotJ is the ending" mindset. It WAS the ending, now it is NOT the ending. It's not even a major retconn because Lucas himself planned to go beyond episode 6 even before he made episode 6.

I disagree, hardly anything was revealed about the Emperor until ROTJ, Darth Vaders story was slowly revealed over 6 movies.

I think people do know very much that ROTJ wasn't the end and have known for decades, with EU and now with new Disney content coming and if it turns out PLagueis is the big bad in VII then he may well have been the big bad from the start.

I didn't say that's what they will do - just all they need to do for people who have an issue with exposition.
However, I see it being fleshed out in VIII when we learned how he formed the KOR.
This will be the epic film that kicks of the trilogy - like ANH.
VIII will be TESB of the trilogy and we we learn more about the heroes, villains and the Force.

But you are following that formula which does not apply here. lets look at it.

99% of fans know in the EU PLagueis is a Muun, if he is a Muun in the film and they don't mention he is PLagueis whats the point? Its not going to be a cliffhanger or reveal of sorts is it? What about if it isn't mentioned? Sites all over the web saying "Who is Snoke?" well come on, JJ and co want to have that Empire Moment and I think that will be in VII.

We know Kylo removes his Helmet essentially revealing himself and if we go by leaked shooting schedule with the unmasking we really do find out who he is.

John Boyega has said we don't find out FInn or Reys backstories. So this film will be kinda strange watching strangers fight strangers with no reveal.

I am not saying Kylo or Hux will know who Snoke is, I am saying we will and we will probably find out he is using the first order & Kylo for his "Agenda".
This goes with what Serkis said about him having a plan, why would Serkis reveal he has a plan if it isn't even oing to be revealed for years?

I think like has been mentioned, Kylo is confused and has been seduced to the dark side and is being used by Snoke and this is where we (the audience) will sympathize with Kylo especially if he kills Han (given he is possibly his father).

@ITG, I promise you I was not trolling in the comment you rated. I was outlining my thought process and my argument as to why I haven't bought into the Plagueis hype. I'm not trying to stir stuff up, I'm trying to provide an alternative view that I think is underrepresented in this thread. If that puts your defenses up, well once again, sorry for the jimmie rustlin', y'all.

I'm sorry I chose to challenge to prevailing, ahem, wisdom here, but I do so out of a sincere desire to have an open discussion. I could actually troll, but I kind of wanted to enjoy my time here. I like you guys, that why I chose to disagree.

    If I thought y'all sucked, I wouldn't bother typing out 500-word mini-treatises with you. That ain't trolling. That's debate.

If a person claims to have a source, that person can either be lying or telling the truth. If they are telling the truth, the source can either be giving them truth, lies, or a mix of both. The mix of both is the best way to keep important truths a secret.

Is it true that a Reddit user sourced the replies coming from Pabs account?
That his latest responses were done by a bot?

If so, haha on us.... Plagueis Confirmed.

Not necessarily. Audience members wouldn't have to feel as if they needed to know who Plagueis was to understand Snoke's motivation or history; a few lines of exposition, which would be necessary anyway, if not moreso if Snoke were an entirely novel character, would suffice. For casual audience members, the thought process would be, "Neat! The Emperor's master. Huh, I never thought about that. He must be powerful." Then they would move on, not having felt left out of the loop. For more hardcore fans, it would be a slight, non-explicit nod to those who remember those few obscure lines from ROTS. Plagueis wasn't truly fleshed out in any canon film, so his canonical history and characterization would be just as much a mystery that needed to be explained to Plagueis theory proponents as it would be to casual moviegoers. No one would feel as if they had missed something because they hadn't paid attention during or even watched the prequels.

I certainly think that's true for some movie-goers, but I'm not sure it would be true for all, or even most. But we shall see.

I read some comments on a different site earlier today where one Reddit user (supposedly) sourced each one the replies from Pablo Hidalgo's account and the recent ones were all generated by a bot. I was using incognito and forgot to bookmark the page. That's why I asked if anyone else had seen it.

Just think about it this way: the fact that you could cut that one scene in question out of ROTS and that said movie really wouldn't skip that much of a beat just goes to show that the Emperor's master would be, for all intents and purposes, a new character, and would need to be explained essentially just as much to Plagueis supporters as it would be to the layman. Honestly, I think that, if Plagueis had never been mentioned in the prequels, a vast number of the theory's current deriders would be much more open to the idea of Sidious' Dark Side mentor being the big baddie in this new trilogy. It's his association with the prequels that causes people to get so vitriolic about the idea (not saying you are), despite that association being tenuous and inconsequential at best.

That one scene was probably the most important scene in the PT, it was Sidious's final step into turning Anakin to the Darkside (by conviniently having the answer to his problem).

That's a good point. For me, I don't think it's so much that DP was mentioned in the prequels, it's more the way he was mentioned. It all just feels like a leap, a potentially confusing and certainly unneeded one. That said, I do agree that the DP theory is viable, I just don't subscribe to it.

You seem to be forgetting the new generation of fans and those that don't follow the eu. These movies won't just be made to satisfy what the ultra hardcore fans want. And strangers fought strangers in ANH. This is a trilogy, not one standalone movie.
