Darth Plagueis In The Sequel Trilogy.

I too think a lot of the leaks have been planned but I think the 25ft think was misinterpreted and blown out of proportion by fans. I believe Serkis said he was on a 25 foot podium which I think he literally meant his character was on a podium while some took it as Snoke was 25 feet tall!

I've been watching their show for years and can tell you they wouldn't do anything bogus for clicks. Campea is a straight shooter and not in the business of breaking scoops. He often craps on the state of movie journalism for running with a story that originated on reddit or a fan forums. (aileen Zahn and Ben skywalker as hux for examples).

On the flip side, it was just a week or two prior where they said they knew who Star lord's dad will be in Gaurdians of the galaxy 2, based on 3 separate, reliable sources, and James Gun (the director) came out the next day to shoot it down.

 

I agree with the first part of your post as well, but wanted to highlight this part. I do not think that Campea and Co. are engaging in sensational journalism. Not for a moment. But on the other hand, we need to be very careful about our "facts" when we don't have first-hand knowledge of anything. There is something very strange about this Disney request and magazine reveal that is, quite frankly, beyond me. I kind of prefer that Plagueis be in the movie (though they'd have some 'splaining to do), but am open to anything and will certainly not let my desires cloud my perception.

We really don't know what's happening here. It can be fun to speculate, and I definitely see where the speculative evidence is going. But "sources" are only reliable after they've been proven to be correct. We're not at that point yet.

 

I'm going black soon, and had to fire my final shot in this thread.....well....until after the 18th. I'm sure I'll be back jumping the fence for at least two more years.

I think I just figured out the perfect way of revealing that he's Darth Plagueis:

Have Kylo and Snoke in a scene together. Snoke asks him, "Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Sidious 'The Fool'?" He begins to tell Kylo the same story that Palpatine told Anakin, except from Plagueis's perspective. He explains to Kylo how Plagueis allowed Palpatine to kill him because he secretly knew how to resurrect himself and then goes on to enumerate all the mistakes Palpatine made which led to his murder at the hands of Darth Vader. Just like what Palpatine did in ROTS, Snoke will be vague in the way that he identifies all the different people in the story, but by the time he finishes telling it, it will be strongly implied to the audience that the mysterious master of Sidious discussed in the tale is none other than Snoke himself.

It would also be a great way to show how much contempt Plagueis has for Palpatine for having betrayed him. I think such a scene could potentially be very powerful.

Just a quick question here: What happens next Monday? Certainly somebody who has watched the film will post a comment here. Will you stay clear of this thread or is that going to be the one kind of spoiler everybody hear wants to learn about ASAP?

 

I'm going dark on Sunday.
But regardless of the outcome, Plagueis or not, this has been a hoot.
I've got to be honest. One minute I am 99% Snoke is Plagueis. Then Pablo pipes up and I'm back in the 50% mark!
For me, Plagueis makes the most sense story wise. Snoke, from what we know, certainly sounds like Plagueis and I really think it is the story Lucas' would've written - and I don't see a great reason for Disney to ditch that element.

Great points all round from people though. It's been a great debate. It's like the build up to ROTS all over again. Star Wars is back....




....and so is Darth Plagueis. I think.

 

Depends on how I feel when I wake up that day.... do I wanna know, or do I wanna see with my own two. I'm thinking of the latter right now. We'll see next week.

 

I don't know if I can stay away... All I want to read is a confirmation or debunk (Haha, right...). But it'd probably best to stay away from this thread after Sunday... I'll be back on Thursday to read up on the 50 more pages discussing on how we still aren't sure whether it's Plagueis or not.

Plagueis couldn't have a more fitting name, this whole thing is plaguing me like crazy.

 

I'm staying for the show. You can all leave me behind, I need confirmation. I need to make sure it's happens.....

I'm personnally not going to go dark. I always believed that spoilers weren't that "bad", the most important for me is the path the movie takes to conclude on an ending. Plus, if I know DP = Snoke before going to the theater, I won't be obsessed about seeing Snoke to the point where I'm ignoring all the rest, and having a bad movie experience in general.
