Did you think that Rey and Finn will be a couple in the future?

I honestly have no idea, though I voted yes. I haven't read the novel yet but I think that the chemistry between them was one of the best parts of the movie. That chemistry could make them a great couple or it could work just as well as great friends. I am really happy with the casting of Daisy and John as I think they play their characters well and work quite well together. It's also a trip to watch them do interviews together. They obviously enjoy each others company.

The thing is, Finn hasn't ever had any kind of relationship before that wasn't based on military camraderie. His feelings for Rey could be all over the map: romantic, fraternal, platonic- anything and everything. If he feels attracted to her, it might like the first crush you had on someone when you were 10 years old- sweet, but not really a good foundation on which to build an adult relationship. I'd need to see him grow more as a person before I'd want him to get together with Rey.

 

They had only known each other a few days. It was too soon for anybody to be kissing. And since Rey's character had that stoic warrior vibe going it surprised me when she kissed him on the forehead. I sensed they were alluding to a possible romance when Han was giving Finn romance advice about being truthful with women and even though I have some gripes when it comes to TFA I have to give credit where it is rightfully due Daisy Ridley and John Boyega did really great in there scenes together and you really felt the chemistry between Rey and Finn.

They love each other.

Finn loves her because she is very brave and can handle her own, that's the first thing he noticed about her. Rey may not know she's in love with Finn but she will realize it when/if they reunite.

I would be a little upset if a new female role would end up being Finn's romantic interest. It would be a waste because we obviously now know that Finn loves Rey. TFA did a very good job in expressing that through it's entirety.

 

Well I voted "yes", and my buddy formerly known as FN-2187 says yes, too, but Rey and her parting kiss on THE FOREHEAD say he's soooo waaay into the friend zone he's gonna have a harder time crawling out of it than Bobba Fett had getting out of the Sarlacc pit.

I honestly don't know. I can't see her hooking up with anyone else, but then again she doesn't need to hook up with anyone - whatever works best for the story.

Neither of them are experienced in this regard. I get the sense than neither for them have had true "friends" before, and certainly no romantic interests. Their living circumstances just haven't allowed it. If this happens, I think that the latter part of Episode VIII (because I expect that Luke and Rey will still be off on their own for at least part of the movie) is were it'd begin and then carry on into Episode IX.

Oh and as for the whole "she has to sacrifice it in order to be a Jedi,"idea I HATE that. I HATE the notion that "heroes cannot have happy personal lives and still be heroes." It's lame, cliché, and sends entirely the wrong message. I hate it in comic books and I'd hate it here.

 

He's in the "friend zone" because Rey, a girl completely unaccustomed to (and wary of) positive, intimate relationships with other people didn't kiss a guy she had only known for a couple days on the lips? When he was lying unconscious on a table? In my opinion, it would have been super weird if she had kissed him on the lips. She's not Leia. That's just not her character.

I do think that Rey and Finn formed a really strong bond in TFA that has potential to grow into something more with time. But personally, I'd be just as happy if they just remain great friends. Strong platonic friendships between men and women can and do exist. (And sometimes the man involved doesn't even complain about being relegated to the "friend zone!" Crazy, huh? ) But films don't tend to focus on those types of relationships very often.

 

Heck even holding hands was initially weird/awkward for her, and her being the one to initiate the hug onboard SKB is a big emotional breakthrough moment for her.

And yes, kissing him on the lips while he's lying there in a coma would have felt, awkward/
