Did you think that Rey and Finn will be a couple in the future?

When they hugged on Star Killer base, I thought Rey was going in for a kiss. Kinda had a mini heart attack...

 

From the movie I sensed Finn had a crush on Rey but I didn't sense much coming from her in that way. To me she sees Finn more like a little brother. They hug and I think Rey kisses him on the forehead at the end rather than on the lips which to me is another obvious sign. Rey is saving him throughout the entire movie and as well as her obvious physical attractiveness I think he likes her strength and resourcefulness. If there is any romance for Rey I think somewhere down the line it's more likely to be between her and Poe. We haven't seen them together yet so we will have to wait and see. In future films she might be too busy becoming a Jedi and saving the galaxy to get involved with a man or woman. As for Finn I'm sure I heard months ago that they were looking to cast an actress for episode 8 which had to have good chemistry with Boyega. My theory and hope for that has always been at some point he comes face to face with a female stormtrooper from his past. In the first scene together she takes her helmet off to reveal who she is and they decide not to engage in combat even though it's what is expected of them. Through the movie they have a conflict of where their loyalties lie because deep down they are madly in love with each other. This is something I wanted to see in TFA. Some conflict in Finn about having to fight his old stormtrooper comrades. He doesn't appear to have any conflict at all which I found a bit strange. I suppose it's understandable if Stormtroopers are forbidden to make friends and have relationships within the first order. However I know Finn had some sort of connection with the stormtrooper that died during the Jakku village scene and the stormtrooper he had to fight at maz' castle.

 

I don't think they said he's a friend per we but that they trained together in the academy .

 

I don't understand it. I don't know if Finn and Rey become romantically involved. But the potential is certainly obvious.

 

Soo, for their "space opera" (aka fairy tale in space) they would chose the most unimaginative, bland, dull and pedestrian "romantic arc" ever that lacks any depth, struggle, conflict or passion?
That just shows some people don't really understand how the art of storytelling works...

My short answer: No.

it's actually canon according to the YA novel Journey to the Force Awakens that the stormtrooper who gets killed is the "runt" of the platoon whom Finn shielded all through training.

I'd love to see that in VIII/IX...maybe Rey actually humors a relationship with Finn for a bit before Por swoops in .

 

Or not. Give me a stable, healthy, relationship between two people who genuinely like and respect each other any day. Going all soap-opera bullcrap would be the "boring" route, we NEVER see that on film.

 

Hard to imagine but hey, integrated love is always good.

My favorite part of this is that the Internet found a black woman who was rumored to be cast, and instantly said "well, clearly that's Finn's gf." Gugu is 1. Ten years older than Boyega and 2. According to herself, not even involved with the project.

Why would rey end up with poe, if she left everyone to go train with luke....or did she just leave finn and decided to take poe, cause he's so cool.

Idk yo, a line of text from a book, (a line ive been familiar with for some time) really seems like underwhelming evidence. Especially after what appeared on screen.

Besides, wouldn't that just sideline ol finn to petty stuff in order to get poe and rey to hang out. I mean, if she's off fighting the kor, does poe join her for that? I thought he was running with the resistance.

 

Lol. I guess any kind of evidence for what we are doing - speculating - is either good or bad depending of our point of view. At the end of the day is just that, speculation.

As I've said before, if this was 1978 we would be speculating if Leia would end up with Luke or with Han. Same as in the HP saga most of us were wondering if Hermione would be the romantic interest of Harry or Ron lol.

 

In both those situations, didn't the characters have a good amount of interaction with eachother? If you blinked while watching tfa, you'd never even know that rey met poe.

Yes, but I am glad they are not following step-by-step the same formula - if they do follow the Rey-Poe thing ahead. Aside of it, I reckon as much as we speculate, in the end it all might be different either justified or not. I mean, I don't really mind if Rey ends up in a romantic relationship with Poe or Finn or with nobody at all. The only thing I noticed was a interaction that was left aside from the movie but included in the novelization.

 

Finn and Rey a couple? Now and often. Some friends just go for it and ask no questions later. You think Frodo and Sam only walked to Mordor?
