I would say, however, that they deserve to be Special Edition-ed.

The amazing thing about Attack of the Clones in particular is the fact that there are so many good, character-building scenes that were left on the cutting room floor. In favor of Anakin doing the rodeo on a space cow. If it were up to me, I'd:

    - Add the Lost Twenty scene. It's on the Blu-ray, and explains who the bloody villain is, which is, like, important, George.
    - Add the conversation between Padme and C-3PO in the shooting script (there are two versions, one where she adds his covering, and one where she doesn't; I prefer the one where she doesn't). It was the one instance where Padme actually explained why she even likes Anakin, and the banter with Threepio is very TESB.
    - Remove all of Boba's dialogue during the asteroid sequence. 'Nuff said.
    - Add that "Let go of me" scene. The version in the finished film is stiff; we only glimpse the original in the outtakes video, but it could've established more of a Han/Leia vibe than what we got.
    - Remove Threepio from the factory sequence and arena. (Maybe have him saunter in and get trapped to keep the "this is such a drag" moment, I guess).

    And more of a wishlist:
    - Bring back Padme's family. But put them in the Lake Country with Anakin and Padme. Remove most of her parents' dialogue. Her conversation with Sola is the meat.
    - Condense the Sand Scene and the Picnic Scene into one scene. Keep the teasing and politics, remove the kissing and the sand. That kiss literally cuts the film in half and completely kills the momentum.

I am torn but said YES!.

I wonder if Fans could re-make the Prequels with ILMĀ“s new virtual reality lab which was shown in a video some weeks ago.
A remake on the bases of 3 live-action movies would be just insane on so many levels.

Definitely. Turn the old Prequels into legends. Give the OT a PT that's worthy of its greatness.

And here's a thought: even if you're a PT fan, isn't it possible a new set of prequels could be better, and that you could eventually come to accept them as canon while still liking the old PT?

Heck, Disney could remake the OT and as long as the previews looked good I'd probably go see them.

The thing is, Disney isn't going to want to commit the resources to create remakes of existing movies in the franchise when they could instead put that money into making a new film entirely. To re-adapt the entire hexalogy of existing films would cost a lot of money - I'd estimate about $2 billion in total, when factoring in advertisement costs - to cover the same ground and pander to what is effectively a minority of fans. Rogue One and the other Star Wars Anthology movies are already getting flak for not taking place in the new era, so what advantage would remakes have over new material taking place in the same era? Audiences are generally cynical about remakes, too. Comparatively speaking, Lucasfilm could save and make more money by widely re-releasing the movies in 3-D like Uncle George planned - and I'm pretty sure that they'll do just that before Episode IX comes out.

I have said it once, and I will say it again... AOTC is the one that holds up best in conversation and structurally.

Of all the prequel films it could be the one most easily saved.

As forthe topic... I dont think so, to much effort... could you imagine if they fudged it up a second time?

Nope. PT are canon, same as OT.

Also I would never accept any remake of PT or OT. Same as most fans.

I think they should not remake the PT - that would be too intrusive retcon'ing - but I believe they should consider re-editing the 3 movies to make a better story. Also, I would suggest they perhaps shoot a coupel of new scenes and such to help tell a better story, possibly even inventing a couple of new support arces for this purpose; whatever they'd need to fix things. Still, IF they did something like this, they would have to also retain the original versions in future releases as it would be unfair to the fans of the PT to scrap what they have and love. In essence then, if they'd follow my way of thinking, they would end up with two PTs that shared most of the end results plot wise, but where the path thither varries; a new PT version could not change the major canonical plots and arcs, IMHO.

I have grown over the years to regard the prequels as more or less watchable but nothing more. I have no love for them at all and if they were banished to the world of non-canon tomorrow I wouldn't feel any loss at all. I would like to see a new and vastly improved PT but If it didn't happen I really couldn't care less. It's an interesting thought and maybe Disney will one day re-create the PT but not for a long long time yet.

I really don't think so because everything depends on a certain point of view. They say one mans garbage is another mans tresure and this can be said about the SW movies. Many old fans that grew up with the OT say they dislike the prequels and though I am one who loves them as much as I love the OT, I still respect their decision yet let's move forward and ask the prequel generation what do they think. Wouldn't many of them want to rewrite the OT? After seeing a lightsaber duel like Duel of Fates, how many prequel fans wouldn't love to throw Ben and Vaders battle from ANH into the garbage and make it new? And what about Fett? After seeing Jango in action, don't you think that Boba Fett seems horribly lame in Jedi? How many fans wouldn't want to make his role during the Sarlacc battle WAY better than it was and have him avoid his trashy demise? I for one would love to get rid of lots of horrible looking characters from the cantina and I would get rid of the Ugnaughts from Bespin without a though and fill Cloud City with more cool looking aliens instead of just humans. There are always going to be things that we like and others that we don't but we have to keep in mind that it's always going to be that way for generations to come and many new fans are going to look back at the old sagas and wish that Disney would make them new so I think, like it or not, let the movies stay how they are. Sure I don't mind an added alien, ship, scene or Droid but not if they are going to remake the whole movie from scratch.

    No.

What's done is done, for better or for worse. In terms of establishing the importance of the Skywalker family- which is central to the saga- the prequels did their job, and there is nothing left to gain by revisiting them.

It's time to move forward. Maybe Anthology films of some prequel characters would be interesting, but aside from that, that time is over.

I'd rather see an Old Republic film than a prequel remake.

While it would be interesting, it would be a waste. I don't like ep 1& 2 at all anymore. I tried, I really did.

    Great thread idea.

I would love to see the prequels remade. I don't even think Disney would need to fix up the original prequels to make them better. They should maybe even completely redo the whole idea behind the PT and not even necessarily make the movies about Vader's origin.
