Does Luke have a new lightsaber?

That is in fact a Force FX Anakin saber, and it still has a yellow sticker on it.

 

Hopefully he's constructed a Cross Lightsaber in the name of Jesus to combat Kylo's demonic blade

 

They probably just used the sabers they had at hand. I'm pretty sure the lightsaber Mickey has is the Kit Fisto model.

 

I sure hope not, Luke's ROTJ saber is my favorite design of the whole saga.

 

I can't imagine them changing Luke's green saber, but after 30 years it would make sense for him to have crafted a new one.

 

The only reason I can think of that he would have crafted a new lightsaber is if he lost the old one. Its not likely that it broke as lightsabers seem pretty sturdy which is backed up by the fact that anakins lightsaber works in the ST like 50+ years after it was made. And a lightsaber isn't some casual tool that you replace every few years for a new one, its a personal symbol of and connection/focusing point for a Jedi's usage of the force. So unless he lost it, not likely as Luke probably has a great deal of respect for his weapon after crafting it himself plus he already lost a lightsaber in ESB, I don't think he will have a new one. No I think most likely we will see the return of Lukes green lightsaber from ROTJ.

 

This is true, but over the course of time a persons preference changes. Perhaps, he even studied other saber designs from past Jedi and found hilt that he liked better. Personally I hope he still has his green saber. I can just understand the train of thought if it were different. Plus, from Disney's perspective it allows for another merchandise possibility.

 

In Heir to the Jedi they describe a lightsaber that Luke recovers from a Jedi sarcophagus. I found it interesting that the design they describe doesn't really relate at all to what he ends up building. Not that he had to copy it, but creatively, you would think someone who doesn't know how something is built would incorporate details from all of the examples he finds to copy or learn from.
While I like his green saber too, it would be cool to see something new.

 

I don't he think is the religious type.

 

They went to the trouble of making sure the Skywalker saber is very accurate to the ESB version (except for one minor difference that I noticed, which is from the ANH version), so I doubt they would change Luke's saber for merchandise reasons. That saber connects him to Obi-Wan as the designs are very similar (Unless new canon says something different that I missed, I think he likely used spare parts that Ben had in his hut). There is also an interesting possibility (unless I again missed something in new canon) that the crystal he uses is Qui-Gon's. The reasons to keep it outweigh the ones to change it.

 

Luke's RotJ lightsaber is just as iconic as Anakin's and Obi-Wan's. They are still going to the effort to sell licensed toys and replica's of said saber. And a worn version of the RotJ saber is showing up on the Battlefront marketing (for what its worth). So I doubt they will change Luke's saber aside from maybe making it look more worn and beat-up. Kind of like Obi-Wan's in ANH compared to RotS.

 

Remember in the early rumors, this saber was the one floating through space still clutched in Luke's grip. After an opening scene of a battle aboard a star cruiser.

 

I think his green saber is kinda iconic now so unless they throw in a little snipit as to what happened to the green one over the 30 year expanse he would still have it.

 

He dismantled it and scattered several pieces around The Galaxy .

 

Just silly. In the book of Revelation Jesus' flaming sword is coming out of His mouth.

 

That's what Snoke will be .

 

30 years later Luke could of mastered different styles requiring additional weapons or no use of weapons at all. But that doesn't mean ole green isn't still hanging on his belt

 

He probably still has it. Maybe will use it in EP VIII
