SPECULATION Domhnall Gleeson in TFA

I'm of the mind if Gleeson isn't a descendent of Luke then I would rather him be a whole new character.


He could be the only person Luke has trained as a Jedi too which I would be really down with that. Luke could have found Gleeson during the 30 years he was gone and trained him. Maybe an "adoptive father" perhaps.


I might start a new thread about my ideas on the "adoptive" theme soon.

 

You have a 31 year old actor probably playing a character near the same age, being born around the time of ROTJ or just after.
I first thought him to be Luke's son, but who is or was his mother.
If he is a Kenobi, I did not think Obi-Wan would know where is family would have been because of what the old Jedi order believed about attachments.

 

I hope you are right. I would hate to know the Kenobi line died out with obi wan.

 

I'm not sure what to think of a descendent of Obi-Wan. But I think Gleeson should be unrelated to anyone in the saga so far.

 

I don't think every character in SW should have a relative appearing in the future movies. It shrinks the universe in that only Kenobis, Skywalkers and Solos can be heroes.

That said, I would prefer Kenobi NOT have any offspring or relatives emerge. I could see Gleeson as Luke's son, but I'm not sure he is. BUT IF he is then a Mara Jade character (perhaps not in name) seems likely. I think the ST must have some combination of Solo and Skywalker offspring though.

 

Yeah I picture him being Luke's son. Luke has trained him for a while but they are both captured at the beginning of the film.

I like the idea of him being a droid...a new protocol droid that Luke built.

 

actually from what ive seen Gleeson with a beard kinda reminds me of Kyle Katarn from the Jedi Knight Acadamy game. if so that would be awesome considering Katarn was Lukes right hand man in forming the Jedi Acadamy on Yavin. and would broaden character back ground rather than having everyone related. however if he is related I hope he is Luke and Mara Jade's son given the obvious red hair like that of Mara Jade.

 

I think Domnhall will be a Mando bounty hunter on the hunt for Luke.

 

I'm thinking he will either be the son of Luke (mother probably dead or the one that's really missing/captured) or someone unrelated. The idea of him being related to Obi-Wan could only happen if he is a nephew or something. The idea of Obi-Wan having children doesn't make sense to me since he believed in the no attachment rule of the Jedi. Yeah he had romantic intrests in TCW and novels but I doubt he had one-night stands with them.
Back to Gleeson, if he's not Skywalker Jr, then maybe a Kyle Kataran type character or maybe a younger version of Dash Rendar, he had red hair right?

 

I don't want Domnhall Gleeson to be anybody BUT Luke Skywalker's son! Of all the character's in the OT, I think Luke having a son to carry on the Skywalker dynasty is ultimately the only one that matters. Three trilogies, three generations of Skywalker men to tell the tale.

 

If Luke doesn't have a son, it's not likely he will. I think Gleeson will be his son and C-3PO will be with him, and R2 with Daisy. Luke trained his son first, then trained his niece (Daisy) second. I believe there we be at least 3 grandchildren of Anakin, Pip Andersen the 3rd.
