    I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but what are the possibilities that Sheev Palpatine had a son? I think Gleeson might be playing an Imperial Commander, but secretly studies the force before attempting to lead a coup to restore his fathers legacy. Possibly a bit wild but just a thought

    Just thought I'd share this rumour I heard earlier tonight. I'm in no way connected to the movies so can't verify, but my source is, however. Up front, I'll freely admit said person might be yanking my chain, but I was told Domnhall Gleeson's character has 'a connection to Palpatine'.

    Make of that what you will.

    I've been thinking about something for awhile in regards to Gleeson's character. I even did a search in this thread to see if anybody has had the same line of thought that I had, but I didn't see anything. So I apologize if this has been speculated upon before.

    But there were rumors flying around for awhile that his character was related to someone from the OT. I think everybody from Obi-Wan to Luke has been offered up as a possibility. Now I have no idea if this rumor was debunked, but even MSW posted an article back in February that his sources said Gleeson was related to someone...so I honestly feel like this is a case of where there's smoke, there's fire.

    So with that, I'd like to propose another option.

    Yes, partially this is because they're both a ging. ;) But Gleeson being Mon Mothma's son actually makes a weird sort of sense. A son of a politician winding up in a high military position? Possibly on the side of the enemy? Plus, it sounds like TFA is going to deal with some generational conflict considering other characters and their rumored family connections. This could be a subtle addition to that theme.

    Thoughts?

    Meh. The only family and descendants that really matter are the Skywalkers. Maybe secondary characters will be revealed to be descendants of OT characters, but I doubt they'll be very important.
