True. It's not that I think it would be a vitally important revelation to the story. Just if he gets introduced as Moff Mothma...I'm dropping the mic! Lol. :)

    Haha! Yesss!!

I think that Gleeson has to be a bigger character than some are saying... but he could just be the Tarkin type character. The chief military officer, in ANH Tarkin seemed to be on equal footing or actually more in charge than Vader. He had the formal military training, and Darth Vader was the one running around and wreaking havoc. IF we're using Nazi anaologies, he could be the Rommel of the First Order.

But I'm still hoping he's a Skywalker "hero" of some kind.

Here's a closer image from the 3500x1466 image I posted above. Gleeson is 6'1" according to Google. Serkis is 5'8" according to Google and playing a motion-captured character of unknown stature.

That could be Captain Phasma next to him.

    I saw this speculation earlier.

What if Luke is Obi Wan's son? What if Padme during her struggles with Anakin, sought solace from Obi Wan? At first, people might think that it undermines Vader's redemption Arc but it would make him more tragic.

I don't see how this would undermine Vader's redemption, it would undermine 90% of the movies though.

It's a Disney movie now. Not a chance. Would make the OT almost pointless, but could serve up some evil Luke.

Disney isn't going to introduce cuckoldry/cuckqueaning into the saga (unless it involves Han, Lando, or some EU character mainstream audiences will gloss over), especially in a way that would render the previous six movies completely pointless. If it played out that way (never in a million years), there would be a ton of problems. "I am your father" loses all impact, as would Obi-Wan's bantha poodoo explanation he gives to Luke. Obi-Wan comes across as being a dick to both Padmé and Anakin. Duchess Satine gets the shaft (in a manner of speaking - my goodness, I'm yanking out the unintentional phallic metaphors). Padmé acts significantly out of character. And worst of all, Anakin loses almost everything that made him crucial as a character to begin with, not to mention that he'd be made into a total p---y instead of a tragic villain.

By the way, that "speculation" was from Spoiler-Babe. She proposed (read: bullshitted for attention) that Max Von Sydow's character was Padmé and Obi-Wan's son, who is somehow decades years older than Luke and Leia are in spite of the fact that he would have been conceived at the same time.

Excuse my feeble Photoshop skills (I was in a rush) but why don't more sites just do something like this, rather than getting someone who - let's face it - isn't the best artist in the world to knock up a naff sketch...

its more certainly phasma in the foreground, can't really tell the height of the person at the front though.

Great! My favorite part is that Gleeson's character has "crazy eyes" in the picture!

Hah. Yeah - I was just messing about and realised I had to set off for work, but I wanted to finish it and post it... had about five minutes to try and move his pupils so he was looking at the screen... didn't quite work out!

Let me have a hand at putting a caption on that picture.

"General Tarkin quietly stifles out a quiet groan of pain after the heavily-armored Captain Phasma accidentally steps on his foot."

    (Pretty good mockup, though.)

The "sketch" is pretty much a tracing of a screen shot. I wouldn't be surprised of the real image looks almost exactly like it from a composition perspective.

...there are so many things wrong with that...

    1. When? It still takes 9 months to build a baby in SW doesn't it?
    2. Where? Kamino? That would get around the 9 months, but not very romantic
    3. It would certainly undermine the character of those individuals and change the scheme of SW for me.

    Just my opinion

    I'm sure it does.
I think what I was trying to say was that I knocked up a quick photomontage in about 10 minutes. And *if I had access to the original screen shot* and a bit more time on my hands I'd be able to do a fairly decent recreation of it with my own fair hand that might give you an idea of the composition and the feel of the mood of the scene beyond the basic MS Paint pallette and line drawing used here and at least actually look like the actors in question.
I'm pretty sure everyone knows at least one other person - who they trust - who is a decent artist, or, at the very least, is a dab hand with Photoshop, yet they never seem to use them in these situations.
I'm not knocking the artist who drew this (sorry if you're out there reading this) but I'm sure everyone here knows someone who could have done a much better job...
