Can't figure out how to get it to work but, here's what it said.

    Episode VII
    The Force Awakens

It has been 30 years since the BATTLE OF ENDOR.

Remnants of the GALACTIC EMPIRE are still around and are threatening the galaxy at every turn. General Han Solo and Senator Leia Oragana Solo are struggling to find a solution. Meanwhile, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker has been in exile for some time.

Little does anyone know a new threat is quietly assembling to destroy the NEW REPUBLIC and NEW JEDI ORDER ...

I tried it too Link doesn't work right

For thirty years the galaxy has been without war. The Rebel Alliance has become the Republic as the Empire has slowly faded away.

Alliance spies have discovered the Empire has a new Ally and is planning an offensive. The few Jedi that Luke Skywalker trained before disappearing can feel a disturbance in the Force.

Han Solo and Chewbacca on a mission for Princess Leia are trying to find the Jedi Master who disappeared ten years ago before this new threat can act....

Way, WAY too much is being made out of the fact that they aren't officially referring to TFA by its episode number.

It will have an episode number in the opening crawl, I would almost guarantee. What it won't have is an ad campaign where it's referred to as "Episode 7" first and "The Force Awakens" second, as happened with the PT films.

But it will still be a numbered episode in the ongoing SW saga.

The reason the prequels had the episode number was because there were people out there who thought it came chronologically after ROTJ. They could not fathom that they were prequels and they happened before the first Star Wars movie. I remember having to explain this to quite a bit of people who did not follow the Saga as I had.

I don't see how they can be construed to mean the same thing. The force awakens makes me think of a resurgence of the force, after a period in time "the dark times" when there were almost no force users.

The ancient fear, makes me think of a very old scary thing.

Lot of posts in this thread, as it should be with how big the news is. Took me a little bit to get caught up.

Regarding what this means for the first teaser trailer, a few of the things that have been said in various threads so far:
    • It will be released with a Disney film, so either Big Hero 6 (today) or that one that is being released on Christmas day (can't remember the name)
    • It might be too soon for Big Hero 6, not enough time for John Williams to finish composing and recording for it.
    • It could be sooner than we thought, possibly even with the Hunger Games: Mocking Jay movie. There was a hint on Twitter I think that mentioned it would be a movie coming out around a US holiday that like TFA features a strong female lead character. The release of the title of the film gives a little more weight to the comments about it coming sooner rather than later.
In my opinion, I actually see the trailer release with Mocking Jay as a good possibility. Even though it isn't a Disney film, they could have a deal with Disney to include the trailer with their film. In the US, on ABC (Disney owned), I have seen quite a few commercials for Mocking Jay already. While it doesn't necessarily mean anything, running those commercials could be part of that deal between the two companies. Also, Disney may be confident enough in their films that they don't think they need to unveil a Star Wars trailer to draw a crowd.

Ok, enough about the trailer. The title itself. Kudos to JJ and his mystery box. They gave us something without really giving away much. It has really had me thinking of how it relates to the plot of the movie, and not coming up with much of anything. It creates (at least with me) a lot of anticipation for the film release just so I can finally find out the meaning behind the title. Ok, I admit, there already was a lot of anticipation, it just increased though.

Hey just wanted to call out whoever rated me dumb for that post haha

It seems that someone went after anyone who insulted the title "Attack of the Clones" care to quote this and explain your reasoning? I'm not mad, just curious, because I personally thought it was a horrid title

Its bad to call the movie "Attack Of The Clones" when the only attack is at the end of the movie.. As I said earlier, "The Clone Wars" or "Dawn Of The Clones" or something like that would make more sense

You're thinking of "Into the Woods" an adaption of a highly respected musical that I am fairly excited for as an unabashed fan of Fables, until a Fables TV series or movie is released I will take any sort of dark commentary on fairy tales.

We can expect a full retro-fun style teaser. I foresee a carbon copy of the first teaser from ESB. With the shades and Vader's helmet.

The two key pieces of dialogue that popped into my mind when the sequels were first announced were these:

"The Jedi are extinct, their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion."
    and
"Pass on what you have learned."

For me, this title brings those lines to mind again.
It's easy to "overthink" the implications of what The Force Awakens might mean, and maybe take it too literally.
I mean, we - as an audience - have been very much concerned with Luke's journey as "last of the Jedi", but the reality is we are moving from a time when the Jedi are forgotten and the general population of the galaxy are skeptical about the Force... to a time when, well, whatever happens in this movie happens.
Whether Luke is finally delivering on Yoda's parting words, or whether there are characters out there discovering the Force and their abilities for themselves - it seems clear to me this is going to be indicative of the Force "awakening" in the galaxy far, far away.

Where did you read that? Have a source/link you could share? Thanks

I like that it sets up a universe where the next Luke or Vader could be coming into his or her own somewhere out there... And with Rian Johnson directing 8... The SW world will be in a similar place as the one he created in Looper... Lots of people with various degrees of force powers/magic but very few who have actually been trained to harness it correctly.

If I were the last Jedi/Sith, I'd be searching for those 'chosen ones' to recruit and train.

It really does become The Amazing Race for jedi. Find them, make your pitch, and if they turn you down (if you were a Sith on his/her recruitment drive) you kill them on the spot, lest the light side train them.

My question is: what do you do if you're Luke... You're looking for recruits who are force sensitive... You find a few who are agreeable... But then you stumble across one who has much more untapped potential... You make your pitch/harmony/boyscout stuff/Tatooine timeshare/force ghost retirement plan/etc. and the person says, um...er No thanks, pops. What do you do then? Can you afford to run the risk of letting this person live.... And potentially become a super powerful sith? Can you justify killing them? As difficult as that sounds, now imagine the person is family... Your daughter/son/nephew... Can you kill them to prevent them from becoming a threat to the universe? Would you be justified... Even if you had a vision of the future... How accurate is that vision? Could someone have incepted that vision in your crazy head??

It's going to be a fun ride.
