    That's a great idea. Probably my biggest issue with the movie was that I thought it should have been about ten minutes longer, so a few deleted scenes or some extra dialogue would be rad.

    Indeed. I never thought I'd need a Star Wars director's cut. But my only major complaint with the film was pacing feel way too rushed. It could really stand from a Lord of the Rings style extended edition with an additional 10-15 minutes or so of those exposition scenes put back in to better pace the movie.

    I really want a TPM like documentary for TFA. I re-watch the TPM doco every few months, probably the best BTS feature i have seen on physical media.

    I'm hoping that one of the deleted scenes is Poe making his way back.

    Theatrical cut
    Extended Edition
    Making of Documentary
    Commentary with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega
    Commentary with JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan
    Commentary with other cast members
    Photo gallery
    Artwork gallery

    Most important thing I want is an extended edition option and theatrical cut option

    Agreed! If they filmed it and then cut it, there's no potential/existing scene I would want to see more than Kylo entering the parked Falcon and sitting in the pilot's chair. That on top of some more time on the Falcon, more time with Finn as a part of the FO, and maybe a minute longer lightsaber duel would have made the film almost perfect for me. Give us the extended cut!

    hey Rebo,

    man, its so tricky when your doing and origin story, there has to be some balance as it's either to slow or to fast.

    I would love some sort of featurette or something showing the rehearsals of the lightsaber battle. (possibly just Rey's and Kylo's fight).

    Just to see how they did it, and how much of it was changed before they shot it.

    Disney has been super lite on their extras for most of their own movies (Cinderella has No deleted scene and about 10 minutes of Behind-The-Scenes). However, I think lucasfilm will probably handle the Blu-ray and DVD release. So I bet it will have more than a regular Disney release, and We know there was a documentary crew with them for some of the shoot.

    I posted this almost a year ago on Jedi Council and didn't really get any replies,so I'm just gonna put this here.

    =========

    The other day I saw someone on reddit ask about good documentaries on Star Wars. I guess the one that got mentioned the most was "Empire of Dreams", which is of course a great production, but I feel we're missing a proper documentary on the entire saga - including the prequels that is. "The Beginning" is pretty good, but otherwise there's just a bunch of featurettes which are really more marketing tool than anything.
    Jamie Benning's "Star Wars Begins" and his other two are absolutely amazing, but they're kind of a different format.

    I'm a huge fan of behind-the-scenes footage and bonus material of all kinds. Ever since going through some of the stuff on the Alien Quadrilogy releases, I've been hoping for Star Wars to get a similar treatment.

    Alien Quadrilogy includes a documentary for each of the four movies, each of them approximately three hours long. That's 12 hours of actual films on the films, all with really high production value. These are more than just "extras". The most recent Blu-ray release even includes additional "deleted scenes" from those documentaries - interviews that didn't make it into the final cuts that run at least another half-hour or so for each film.

    There's another one for Prometheus clocking in at almost four hours which I haven't really watched, but it must be amazing for a fan. Just imagine what you could pull for the Star Wars franchise if you were as thorough.

    At some point I noticed that the director-producer of these features, Charles de Lauzirika, was also behind "Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner", which is probably the most amazing documentary on a movie that I've ever seen. Hadn't even been aware it was from the same guy.
    Even if those aren't necessarily your favorite movies, you should definitely take a look at the Blade Runner one and maybe some of the Alien stuff. They're all entertaining to watch in their own right.

    Accidentally he also did a documentary on one of my favorite TV shows, Twin Peaks. It looks like he's worked on some rather extensive documentaries on Exodus and some Transformers movies too, but the movies themselves aren't really my cup of tea to begin with, so I haven't checked them out.

    So after googling a little I found this interview, in which he got asked about doing Star Wars.

    If this isn't what every fan loves to hear, then I don't know. I feel whoever is in charge at Disney should get a hold of that guy. He obviously loves science-fiction and has a passion for movies in general. Getting feature-length documentaries on each of the Star Wars movies would be a dream come true. At least to me something like that would be just as much a reason for me to get a future release as providing the original versions.

    =========

    What's funny is that since I wrote that post, de Lauzirika actually has produced something for Lucasfilm. Apparently he did a short for the new "Launch Bay" attraction at Disneyland.

    I guess the chances are pretty good that Disney is working on something more extensive with him for a future release. Would be awesome.
