I think that I enjoy The Phantom Menace the most. Mostly due to it having a decent plot and also seeing the state of the republic before things start going to hell.

After reevaluating the PT after all these years, I look at things differently now.

Even though ROTS has most the plot points that we waited for since 1983, and should have been a slam dunk, the movie is a complete mess of good and bad scenes.

I actually think TPM is the most consistent PT, so that is why I would say its my favorite. For all its flaws its the only PT movie with the sense of adventure that the OT had. And the movie doesn't take itself seriously unlike AOTC & ROTS where they try to be this serious character study and fails miserably.

TPM has that innocent quality in it and maybe a 20 year old Anakin played by an actor the fans liked along with no Jar Jar, and maybe things could have been different in 1999.

Attack of the Clones easily. TPM had a chance but it was hurt by thr Jar Jar factor, and he actually bothers me less than he used to. AotC has Obi-Wan and the hot shot Anakin getting served by Dooku and Yoda saving them. Anakin abd Obi- wan dynamic is strong. Padme has some good action before she is reduced to a prop in the next film. Mace windu decapitates Jango and sets Bobas life path. And as stated above least cringe worthy moments. ROTS has the best duel so far in all the movies Obi-Wan and Anakin lived up to the hype. But over time the clones is the prequel movie I rewatch the most.

TPM was the only of the three prequels that had that warm ambiance present in the old films, so I suppose it wins by default.

Revenge of the Sith was the one movie were I started to feel the hype and excitement of a Star Wars audience. I was too young to comprehend the crowd's love for SW when it came to the OT and TPM. I also couldn't remember about AotC (maybe due to the boring dialogue), but I do recall the crowd cheering when Yoda activated his lightsaber. RotS is were I felt like I was now part of a fandom. I even made the first clap when the movie ended, which resulted everyone clapping.

So yeah, I'm going with RotS.

If Rots did not suffer from bland acting, I think we could make an argument that it is better than ANH

My favorite Prequel Trilogy movie is "ATTACK OF THE CLONES". For me, it has an epic scope to it only matched by "THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK".

Bland acting is the hallmark of the STAR WARS saga. Someone called it the "Velveeta Cheese" acting style. I heard that J.J. Abrams wanted to avoid it, but I don't think he succeeded. I found a good deal of it in "THE FORCE AWAKENS". Only Harrison Ford and John Boyega managed to avoid it.

I used to loathe TPM but after revisiting all three, I might just have to admit it's my favorite. It has my two favorite scenes from the PT.

    - Podracing and the Duel of the Fates. I also really enjoyed Watto.

I found the dialog between Padme and Anakin in AOTC and ROTS so terrible. I'm sorry. The music was my favorite part of these films, and the fact that Yoda didn't look like a shiny plastic goblin anymore.

ROTS is a great emotional movie, and big pay offs. The challenge is figuring out if I'd see it this way if I didn't see I and II? I tend to view the movies as one big story.

ROTS is probably the best of the three, but I like TPM more because it felt exciting, at least in parts. By the time ROTS rolled around the energy had just been drained (from me, at least).

I watched Revenge of the Sith a few days ago after not seeing it for about 8 years. I thought it held up. I'm not a prequel hater by any stretch of the imagination though.

    The Phantom Menace.

It's truly underrated and is a great story. It's certainly different but, more alike then one thinks with any prior Star Wars film before it and currently. The story shows the innocence and clarity of a galaxy before the dark times, before the Empire through the eyes of the one who had a part to play in this, Anakin Skywalker later Darth Vader. It shows it through the eyes of one Jar Jar Binks. It shows through the setting of a romantic, classical design in a place called Naboo at the vocal point and even a different side to Tatooine. You begin to understand more of how the Force uses Midi-Chlorians to tell one the will of it and it's working together for mutual advantage. An ongoing theme throughout the film is people helping people and lifeforms needing each other. The Gungans and the Naboo. As well as we are introduced to The Chosen One concept and how this boy is said to be the one to bring Balance to the Force. Let's look at it this way, if the Prequels in general are about the fall, the Originals are about the redemption, then where is the next part of the story naturally going to go? The rebirth and legacy. It is established by Qui-Gon Jinn that the boy is possibly conceived by Midi-Chlorians as he has no father that we know of. Then in part three of these Prequels we are presented with the idea by Darth Sidious a la Senator Sheev Palpatine as of The Phantom Menace, then finally seen as the Emperor that a Dark Lord of the Sith named Darth Plagueis could influence the Midi-Chlorians to create life. If this is accurate and the truth of course, it adds to overall scope of the story told in the Prequels in general. Most of all, it adds depth to The Phantom Menace. We've seen the legacy of Darth Vader in the Sequel Trilogy already, why not take it one step further and show the re-birth of the one who created him? The underlying story told throughout The Phantom Menace and the Prequel Trilogy in general and even the Original Trilogy and Sequel Trilogy thus far is that life needs each other or we don't exist. We come together and eventually Balance of the Force will be restored to create a symbolic relationship. One of a family in a galaxy, far, far away ...

In summary, I enjoy The Phantom Menace the most because, I see the impacts of it's effects on the story as a whole. Though subtle at this time, in time I have hope eventually everything will come together and everyone will understand what I am saying and that George truly did have the right intentions at heart for this story.

I think TPM has such a bad rep because some people made fun of it, it started catching on that it was the "cool" thing to do and it got worse from there .

Always seemed like it would be that way. One thing that can't be denied by the Prequels and George is that they weren't afraid to take risk. It didn't always work but, The Phantom Menace showed it's potential and is a solid foundation for what proceeds.
