Haha. It's tricky to see who's playing who in Winterfell and I guess I like the intrigue more than anything else in the show!

After episode 5 I thought for a moment Benioff and Weiss maybe weren't doing justice to Arya's character with her obvious spying etc but I'm guessing she's playing Little Finger. Seems to me she's giving him a false sense of security and control and now pushing Sanza on purpose. It may be a form of training for her sister, seeing Sanza's penchant for acting out of fear and wanting to school her out of it? We'll see.

Game of Thrones' biggest enemy right now is that it out grew HBOs budget and it just cant afford to tell the story it deserves to tell.

If Game Of Thrones fans had any intelligence, they would research the end of The War Of The Roses (which GOT is copied from) to see the final outcome....

Sometimes it isn't about the outcome but the journey.

But hey, if people who like to blast on fans of things they may not like had any intelligence they wouldn't blast on fans of things they may not like.

But if you already know the outcome, then the journey is merely a waste of time.

Disagree. But again, if you don't like something, don't consume it and don't try to insinuate that people who do like it are not smart.

Just because you have some sad existence that causes you to think that you must inform people of a fan group that they aren't smart doesn't make you smart or better. It just makes you a jackass.

I looked up the outcome. Wow, it's so similar to the books!

Very, very interesting that Drogon's existence has been kept a secret by the Queen so long, and that the White Walkers were pushed all the way back to Scotland. Also, hopefully PM May will finally get a program together to help get the Children of the Forest into loving homes.

    :p

In all seriousness... wow, what a great episode! I had kinda had the ending spoiled for me last fall, but I wasn't totally sure it was accurate. Boy was it!
    To avoid spoilers...

If you are a GOT fan, go see Logan Lucky for one scene with GoT references. It's incredible

No one would ever see a historical drama because you already know the outcome...said no one ever.

There's some fair criticism on that front for sure. Maybe that last amazing battle scene in Westeros might have sapped some funds that might otherwise have been used to make Arya's faces not look like cheap rubber masks or have Jon's direwolf actually appear on screen!

Also the cost of the actors has gone up.
Dragon CGI, Army of the Dead CGI, Armada CGI....all costing us our damn dire wolves!

Huh...what would be intelligent about researching the final outcome if you say it means the journey becomes a waste of time?

This feels like an appropriate time for a Forest Gump quote.

You do know that The War Of The Roses was real don't you? It's not a book. This stuff actually happened in England between 1455-1487.

I mentioned this in another thread but if anyone's interested in historical battles, BazBattles do great little animation summaries of some famous ones.

In their latest vid they tried their hand at fiction and did a neat background on Robert's Rebellion for GOT fans.

"But if you already know the outcome, then the journey is merely a waste of time."

Correct, in part... For example, when you see a post by a certain user, you know reading it is just going to be a damned waste of time. So you don't even bother reading their posts, and save yourself the eternal agony and put them on ignore. (I had to un-ignore for a moment to see why @RoyleRancor was arguing with himself :D )

I'd just like to chime in here and say that sometimes knowing the outcome can greatly benefit the investment in the journey. Hypothetically, you've got your main character. You know his side loses for sure - that's a historical fact, you can't go around it, you can't avoid it. Now if you can make your audience care for that character; if you can get them invested in his journey, even if they know it is going to fail - it will introduce a very natural kind of tension and dread to the plot - because people will want him to come out on top despite the odds stacked against him.

I actually wanted to see this before you said that. And before I realized Adam Driver was in it. Hopefully this weekend... "It's incredible" as in the scene, or the movie?

As for the business at hand. Sansa is absolutely making me cringe with every move she makes. @Alamact has been joking with me about "Darth Sansa".... and yeah, it's definitely fitting.

    As Obi-Wan once said...
"She's more Cersei now than Sansa. Twisted and evil."

Very well said. I have a feeling Tolkien would have a bit to say on this topic, as well.

Yeah, I assume many, if not most ,GOT members know that.
And there are some parallels between the series and the war. But there's actually many other historical parallels in GOT outside of WotR. And, as I've said before- the show has deviated from common logic in general (I mean, dragons? Ice zombies? Resurrections? Sam getting with a babe like Gilly?). Not only that, but the writers are hardly bound to finish the series in a parallel to any actual historical event, just because the series has had some already.

Both. The scene and the movie but the scene is a special nod to GoT fans and it's hysterical
